This place is phenomenal - I highly recommend if you're in Cortez or visiting Mesa Verde! John was our server and he could not have done better!!! The service all around was stellar from entrance to exit, and the food was awesome. I'm dairy-free, so eating with dietary restrictions at restaurants in small towns can be such a struggle, but John knew exactly what I could and couldn't have and he took great care of me. My husband and I love to eat here when we are in Cortez. We always stay at the Holiday Inn Express, which is directly across the parking lot from Destination Grill. If you stay at this hotel, you can get a discount at this restaurant! Just show them proof of your hotel stay. The food and drinks are delicious and the service is excellent! When a place charges almost $15 for a burger, I expect it to be good, this wasn't. Most of my family ordered burgers, we all got dry, flavorless pre-cooked re-warmed paties served on a hard, tough sandwich roles. We were hungry but still couldn't bring ourselves to finish these. The waiter was kind and took the burgers off of our bill, he deserves credit for being a good guy. Just don't get a burger here, and by the way that's about a third if their menu. read more

Don't bother! Everything is beyond spicy and way over cooked. We had to wait so long for our food. Quesadillas were so spicy, spicy ketchup for fries, and served very well done hamburger when asked for medium rare without any condiments and had to wait five minutes to get any. Took 15 minutes to be greeted after saying hello to the waitresses on the way in (seat yourself) Capt. Morgan and coke was served with flat soda. Was hungry after a long day on the road, she had the NY Strip, I went for the quail. Food was ok, quail were cold and chewy. Side salad came dumped on the same plate, so no point trying to dress it. Steak was ok, but not hot. Bill came faster than anything else, while I was halfway through with the entree. I've worked tables and I know what it's like when people come in late, but the place was still packed when we arrived and we left before closing. I went here with a party of 7 on a road trip last week. They were understaffed, but the folks who were working were extremely polite and professional. All of us ordered different items, and we were all quite honestly shocked at how good our meals were. We all agreed that the food far surpassed our expectations. Never in my 20+ years in the hospitality industry have I ever encountered such a rude restaurant manager. We arrived with 5 people and were placed at a table for 4. One person was dangling on the end, sticking out into the aisle way. We nicely asked our server to be moved to another table or push a small table up to ours to accommodate everyone. She was very sweet and said she would have to check with her manager. The manager told her "No." We were then told we could stay there as is or go outside. We chose to go outside, hoping to find a larger table for us out there. However, nothing was open, so my sister went inside and asked the manager directly if we could be accommodated inside. She was extremely rude to my sister. Clearly, she was annoyed that we asked. At that point, we decided not to spend our money where we were treated with such disrespect. On the way out, my friend (who is a local) spoke with the manager to explain to her that we were leaving because of her rudeness. While he was calmly explaining his feelings to her, she stared rolling her eyes and making faces at him. When he pointed out how disrespectful she was being, she screamed at him to "Get Out!" Meanwhile the server looked embarrassed by her manager's behavior and unfortunately, she's the one that paid the price by losing a table. We were actually OK leaving because when we walked up from the parking lot towards the restaurant, food from a BBQ on the deck above was thrown all over the sidewalk, as was garbage. We had our doubts about the quality of the food walking in, but the disrespectful behavior of the manager confirmed this was not the place we wanted to spend our money. In town for an overnighter during a long road trip. We stayed next door at The Holiday Inn who gave us a discount card for the Destination Grill, a family-friendly restaurant. After a long day on the road a beer and a burger sounded just right. We weren't let down in either case. A nice cold ale, a tangy bowl of Sabrosa chili and an Anasazi burger was just right. We stopped at Destination Grill after a day of touring Mesa Verde. We were tired and wanted something filling. We started off by ordering soft drinks...they didn't come until dinner arrived...after we reminded them of our drink orders. We both ordered burgers. The burgers appeared to be the patties that you can get at WalMart - thin and compact. The burgers came well done (there were no other options). The ciabatta bread that accompanied the burger was tough to eat. My boyfriend gave up eating the burger about halfway through due to the hardness of the ciabatta bread. The fries were not done...my fries were cold and clearly not cooked thoroughly. The bill for the meal was over $40...we both commented that our previous dinner at McDonalds was better (and far cheaper) than this place. read more

Delicious gourmet burgers! It was kinda pricey and I am not sure if an event was going on or what but it was LOUD. I enjoy a delicious bar and grill, but it really was quite loud. But despite the megahertz it was delicious, I'd definitely go back, and encourage friends to go as well. Just be prepared for the noise. read more

They deserve a 1 star, but the 1st night was ok. We were in town for two nights and staying across the street, so we ate there both nights. The 1st night was pretty good, though the salad could have been quite a bit colder. But the 2nd night was horrible. We tried to order the Rueben, without cheese ( my husband is lactose intolerant) We couldn't order that because the meat, cheese and sauerkraut are all pre-mixed (yuk, doesn't sound fresh to me), so we instead ordered the fish tacos. When they arrived at the table, you could smell them. A tiny taste of the fish verified that the fish was old and bad. We told the waitress, she took it away, but apparently never told the manager, or the manager didn't care. We expected someone to say something to us about it, I wouldn't go back at all. read more

Sorry. Wanted to like this place, but not so good. There were 4 of us and tried a variety of things. Friends had the bbq ribs, wish they hadn't. The bbq sauce was way too spicy and not that great. I had the ribeye. Should of not. Ordered it medium WELL and it came rare. I mean blue cold in the center rare! Asked them to please try again, and seriously 2 minutes later brought it back, probably got it to rare this time. Geez!! Husband had the cheese burger which maybe ok. Great burgers! We had the Anasazi Burgers and a couple of beers...perfect after a long day of driving. This restaurant was right next to our hotel, which was a great plus. Our waitress was nice, very friendly. The burgers were huge, with smoked cheddar and a bit of bacon, with a smoky, mouth watering barbecue sauce. Absolutely great. All the other items on the menu looked pretty good, and the other diners seemed to enjoy their dinners as well. Recommend it if you're traveling on to Mesa Verde, or staying in Cortez. read more

I read the reviews before going, and there were a couple of very bad ones. So I was a bit concerned, but noticed there were also some very good reviews. So I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Service was really fast.
