Bonjour, Mon Ami! ( Hello, my friend...) It is good to visit and enjoy your delicious pastries!…read moreEven though I arrived late in the day, the pastry cases were full of enticing baked goods. There was every kind of croissant you can imagine. I bought my favorite almond croissant. There were fruit and cream filled pastries. I bought a fruit and cream filled pastry too. There were a lot of chocolate delicacies. I am going to buy some on my next trip. The ambiance is lovely. There are tables and chairs to sit and enjoy your sweets. There are cases filled with pastries. Service was great. I was waited on right away and they packed my box in a bag with a handle, to make it easier to carry. Au revoir, for now! But, I will be back for more delicious sweets.

When you walk in, the counters are filled with pastries and breads that look fresh and delicious…read more I had one and it was very fresh, buttery and very good. There's seating inside, but the seating area is pretty small and some people were at tables looking like they weren't going anywhere anytime soon. It was a nice morning, so we were able to grab an outside picnic table. The service was decent. One disappointment was when the counter person asked me if I wanted room for cream in my coffee, I said yes and asked if they had nondairy products. She said they had almond and soy. I asked for soy and she returned with my drink. When I went to pay, I saw they charged 79 cents for almond, soy and oatmilk. Ok. Here's the thing. I assume it's on the board and I should have looked, but she also could have mentioned it. Also, charging for these items when they put a little in your coffee leaves me feeling like I'm being abused for not being a dairy person. I get it - it's a pastry shop and the items are buttery and rich from cream. But please - 79 cents for a little soy milk? (I know this isn't uncommon for coffee shops, but it doesn't make it right.). And the coffee ($4.25) was decent - not great. I expected better (richer, more flavorful) coffee from a nice pastry shop like this. Anyway, it's a nice neighborhood place and there's a lot of treats there.

Overall: Japong Bakery is a hit for bread, would come back to try some more…read more Food: The bread here was fantastic, each one has their own charm and there is a wide enough selection that everyone has at least one that they will like. I especially liked the sandwich bread, it reminded me of the breakfast sandwiches I would get in Taiwan. Service: Normal service for an Asian style bakery, you get the bread yourself and pay at the register. Ambiance: A chill ambiance inside with a few tables. Enough to have a small group, but not exactly roomy enough for larger groups.

Last Sunday, I wanted to happily buy a cake for Mother's Day but after I already paid as price tag was shown. The owner suddenly came over and said there was an extra charge because it was a "Mother's Day Special" . Apparently "Special" means rising the price by surprising their customers. Honestly, if there's a holiday surcharge, I would truly understand! But it should be clearly stated before payment -- not after. Very disappointing experience. I only bought it because my mom loves mango cake, but I definitely won't be coming back again I am pretty certain that you're not allowed to raise the price on an item already paid for. It's not the money. It's the principle. This is unethical.

3.5 stars for me. Items are decent but not amazing…read more We ordered the fruit sponge cake for a party and stopped by in the morning to pick out some additional pastries. We came around 9am and they had a decent selection of buns. We got a mix of baked pork buns, pineapple buns, custard buns, and the lotus wrapped sticky rice. Items were individually wrapped. Egg tarts weren't ready yet. I was pleasantly surprised to find the white sugar rice cake. At approximately $3-$6 per item (give or take), it came to ~$50. The pork bun was dry and skimpy on filling. Since we came right at opening, I'm not sure if it was yesterday's pastries since some shelves were still empty. The white sugar rice cake was good, but not the best I've had. I don't come across this dessert as often as I like, so finding it at Asian Bakery Cafe was a treat. They also have moon cakes, roll cakes, and a small freezer for take-home dim sum. The Asian sponge fruit cake, which was our primary reason for stopping by, was adequate. Again, it wasn't the worst I've had, but it also wasn't the best I've had. The sponge cake was light and not too sweet (an Asian dessert standard), but it wasn't life-changing or anything to write home about. The cake had nice presentation from the packaging of the box (tied with a ribbon bow) to the icing and fruit on top. Fruit toppings included cantaloupe, honeydew, strawberries, kiwi, and peach. Fruit distribution in the filling was uneven and sparse. The cake met our needs but I wouldn't necessarily choose this bakery over another. I do want to highlight their service. When we picked up the cake, the worker kindly carried the cake for us and put it in our car. Five stars for service!

Tired a few things on a whim from Savvy Treats. It's definitely a carry-out shop as the ambiance,…read morewith no indoor or outdoor seating. They do also sell a variety of drinks, teas, and even greeting cards. Here is how everything was: The Chocolate mousse shooters with whipped cream (2 oz) was definitely decadent, but grainy tasting as well. It was tough to get over the texture of something so rich that was meant to be smooth and wasn't. I liked the Salted Caramel Cheesecake Shooters (2 oz) a bit more because of the different flavors (the cheesecake layer being my favorite). The Chocolate Covered Strawberries were nice, but the strawberries were tart (which is definitely tough to gauge). Lastly, the buttercream on the Mini Cupcake was overly sweet and the cupcake was not as moist as I would have anticipated. There is limited parking (outdoor) outside the shop, but it is free.

Monday 2/24/25 & Tuesday 3/11/25…read more Once again, another spot that has been on my list for a while, and it seems that I came at a very unique time as a new owner had recently taken over. The new owner was a good dude. He provided great service, was very friendly & personable, and has lots of goals & innovations that he wants to accomplish for the business. I had a couple of items I wanted to try, but some of them weren't available. On my first trip, I got the carrot cupcake $3.95 and the Oreo cupcake $3.95. On my second trip, I came back to get my birthday gift they gave me which was $10 store credit, and got both of the cupcakes and a cinnamon crunch scone. Also, the near $4 price tag for the size of these cupcakes isn't something I'm too fond of, but oh well. - The carrot cake cupcake was good: the icing and cake complemented each other very well. - The Oreo cupcake was alright, but I wasn't impressed with it. - The cinnamon crunch scone was an easy miss for me, didn't do anything for my taste buds. Overall, it's a decent spot with a relatively limited amount of pastries but I fully expect in the coming months for the business to take a huge shift and really blossom.
