We always used DeSoto before Uber/Lyft became popular and they were great, even fabulous. However, our recent experience changed my mind. On 8/24 I called in the morning to request a ride for that evening in Livermore. Needed a pickup at 5:40 p.m. for a 6:00 private event we were attending. At 5:50 I called to see where the driver was and was told "not to worry, he was on the way". At 6:05 I called again and asked the person answering the phone to call the driver to find out where he was and asked that person to call me back and advise me of the ETA. I never received a call back and our driver never showed up. We ended up driving our own vehicle to the event and we're obviously late. Horrible service. Will not use again and have let others know as well. read more

terrible. I made a reservation for a ride to the Oakland airport for a 5:25 am flight two days before the trip and they lost my reservation. I finally called them at 4:00 in the morning and the guy could find my reservation anywhere. I luckily got a Uber and barely made my flight. I will never use this company agai. read more

I have the emails with reservation numbers and they cannot find them......and pretty rude over the phone too, kept telling me to call back during business hours, supposed to be a 24 hour business. I would give no stars if possible. Second time (and never again) picked up in a car that had some mechanical problem. The same car and the same problem from when we were picked up over a month prior. The driver said it was a shock issue but I felt very unsafe in the vehicle. The driver seemed to share my concern. The owners of the cab company don't seem to care enough to fix their cars. It is not the drivers' fault who ends up hearing it from customers. Unacceptable! read more

It wasn't just that Ali, one of the owners made good on his promise to personally ensure I would have a great service, it was not just the fact he reached out to me personally via Yelp, it was not just the fact that he was pleasant to talk to, Ali is a genuine person and not just an owner, but a real stand-up guy. The ride was super comfortable. Big black SUV Escalade, yessssssssssss, my favorite SUV on the planet and how did he know that? I must tell you, if you are tired of being "nickle and dimed" by cab companies and it you are concerned about your safety when you call for a Lyft or an Uber, you MUST give DeSoto a call. Family owned and operated business with a heart and a passion for the business and for their customers. I love owners who can't stop talking about what they're doing to further the business for a better customer experience. This is what my ride was like with Ali. Used DeSoto cab for airport ride to and from Oakland airport. Our drivers both ways showed up on time. Arrived in nice clean Escalade to get us--4 in our party. Driver Sean was very professional and classy. Driver that came to pick us up at airport texted us to let us know he was there before we even landed. Kept in touch throughout our baggage pick up and showed up prompt and with a nice clean mini van for 4 of us. Reasonable prices. Very professional. Definitely recommend. read more

Great job overall, we requested a minivan with an advanced reservation. The driver, Mike, showed up right on time and was very patient while my brother, with medical issues go into the van. Couldn't have asked for a better ride, he slowed down for every bump in the road to keep him comfortable. Great rate, but we would have paid twice as much for the level of service that we received. read more

Great customer service. There was an issue with their online reservation system, however they quickly sent another cab and the driver was great. I was contacted by a manager later who apologized for the problem. I will definitely use Desoto again in the future. read more

I've tried very hard with DeSoto (925 777 7777, blue cabs) but I really don't like fearing death on my way to the airport. I've had numerous drivers and none I would recommend. The last came complete with girlfriend, broken bumper, large drink he spent more time holding than the wheel and kept all the windows open across the bridge so by the time I arrived I was deafened and wind swept. They rarely check traffic and half the time (especially on the way back from the airport) I've had to direct. Good points: they're almost the cheapest around and they generally turn up on time. read more

I have used DeSoto Cab quite a few times and each time they have always picked me up before my quoted time which has been wonderful. The drivers are always polite and make good conversation. My friends and I went out on my birthday and the cab driver ended up paying for our cab, I thought that was just the nicest gesture and was totally unexpected. I had a very bad experience with DeSoto in the Dublin/San Ramon area. Called for a taxi at 5:30 at a well-known area restaurant and was told it would be 30 minutes. I agreed. After 30 minutes, still no taxi so I called again. Was told the driver was on his way. I waited another 15 minutes, and still no taxi. I found another way home. At 6:30, one hour after I originally called, the driver had finally arrived to pick me up. Look people, i am all for being flexible, but time is very important. If I had known at the outset that I would have to wait an hour for a 2-mile trip, I would have explored other options. It appears that local trips are not lucrative enough and therefore do not deserve great service. Pity. I will NEVER call DeSoto again, nor will I recommend it. read more

They will tell you one thing about their dishonest rate and take you the long way to your destination to charge you more. They charge by minutes and are very dishonest people and drivers that can hardly speak English. Save yourself the agony and waste of time and money and use the more fixed rated cabs than these con artists. read more

Hello it gives me great sadness that after working with this company for almost 2 years of utilizing their services & tipping them well, we had to separate from thier practices. Sunday May 27th we called for a pick as we were downtown. The music was loud in the restaurant so we first missed his call but less than 2 minutes later we were outside. Once we got in the car we were berated & yelled at. He snarled that he should have just left. We were so stunned we just sat in the cab for the ride home. Once we reached out destination we ran out of the cab fast as we were so upset & still stunned. What's worse is that in the rush I left my Gold Aviator Ray Ban sunglasses. When I called them back it took days just to get a solid answer. Never once was there any apologies nor even an attempt to replace my Mother's Day gift. I never would have thought that this company would allow thier employees to verbally abuse thier patrons but not even have the decency to replace what the rude cab driver kept. We never use Uber as we trusted our local company. It saddens me deeply. I will never again call (925) 777-7777 for service again. read more

With shoulder injuries, I have had to use cabs to get around. I very soon settled on DeSoto regularly...within the Tri-Valley area, as well as trips to Calistoga and one to San Francisco Thanksgiving morning. All drivers have been uniformly polite, on time, all cabs very clean, and my wait time from call to pick up-15 minutes. The dispatcher too was knowledgeable and pulled up my record immediately.
