I rarely post reviews but AJ, the owner of AZ Cab, is such a special person that I have to sing his praises. I have relied on AJ for many months to drive me back and forth to various hospitals and surgery centers due to my health problems. These are for surgeries and procedures where I can't drive myself. Some of these trips are a good distance away. AJ is ALWAYS on time and waits patiently if appointments or procedures go long. He is also compassionate and understanding and has a way of making me feel better during difficult times. AJ has become a friend and always finds a way to take care of my travel needs, even if plans have to change. Car services aren't inexpensive in the Bay Area, but AJ's charges are in line with or less than others. And, as I mentioned, AJ is 100% reliable. I've used many different car services over many years and I've never been as satisfied as I am with AZ CAB. If you want conversation, AJ is great at that. If you just want to sit quietly, no problem. And I never have to listen to many calls or other intrusions from the front seat. Travel with AZ Cab is very pleasant. Two more items I'll mention: (1) AJ never gets lost and gets me where I need to be swiftly and comfortably, (2) his vehicle is great - always sparkling clean, roomy seats that recline, plenty of leg room and excellent ventilation that I can control in the back seat. I never post reviews but AJ saved the day! My son is out in Pleasanton, California for the summer. He had reserved an Uber car for a Sunday 7:45AM pick up to the airport. Found AJ here on Yelp after frustration with another car service. After many trips over the past year or so I can tell you he consistently lives up to his 5-star rating! Great communication, great reliability, and a really nice guy to boot. We first used AZ solely for airport runs. Recently changes in my wife's health kept her from driving to various appointments several times per week. Using other services can be difficult when trying to link trips. He frequently goes above and beyond, driving to/from doctors appointments, waiting during the appointment, stopping on the way home to pick something up, etc. All at very reasonable rates. I called AZ Cab based on the high reviews on YELP and was very impressed on my whole experience. When I called the night ahead of my flight, AJ answered the phone and we set up an appointment for pickup the following morning. When I text to confirm, he remembered the time I mentioned on the phone and called me back to confirm which time was correct. AJ was pleasant and professional over the phone as well as in person. AJ was waiting outside our home bright and early for a 5:15 am pick up/ride to the airport. We enjoyed a friendly and intelligent conversation on the way to the airport. His taxi is very clean and comfortable for a family of four with 4 suitcases. It was totally comfortable and he paid attention to me instead of being on the phone with someone else. For some reason, so many cab drivers are always on the phone talking to someone else making the entire ride uncomfortable. AJ was friendly and even avoided answering a few calls that came in on his phone while we were driving. After dropping me off at the airport, I realized I forgot something at my house! Doh! So I called him back immediately and he circled around to pick me up. It cost me another $95 round trip, but he only charged me less than half and we had a great conversation about his family and plans to buy a house. I made it back to the airport in time and off to my plane I went. Hands down, AZ Cab proved to be 5-stars for professionalism, punctuality, and excellent customer service. We'll call AZ Cab again. I was researching rides to SFO from Dublin and at first was avoiding car services because I thought they'd be too expensive. But regular taxi companies had iffy reviews and weren't all that cheap. When I searched Yelp and asked NextDoor for recommendations, A-Z came up. I contacted AJ and he responded right away. He came on time (4:30 am!) and is a safe driver, friendly, and interesting to talk with. While on the way to SFO, we arranged for him to pick me up on my return, and he was right on time again. I use to take BART to the airport (if it was running at the time I had to go), but I think I'm spoiled now. read more

Huh? That's right. I've lived in several residences in Danville, San Ramon and Pleasanton over the last three years and don't drive a car. I'm a bicycler. Yep. I'm a geek from San Francisco and I haven't culturally acclimated to the life of normal people here in the affluent communities of the East Bay where everyone wastes money on owning a car. But ah ... there are times when I need a ride in a car. Like when my bicycle gets a flat or when I have business far away from the Iron Horse Trail. And that's when I call AJ at AZ Cab. I've used AZ Cab - oh ... maybe ten times. It's my preferred cab company. What's cool about AJ is that he's both a dispatcher and a taxi driver. So requesting a cab is like having a friend to come get you. And if he can't get to you right away he'll dispatch another taxi to you. We've had many great conversations. Nothing profound. Just normal stuff. He's a happy guy. His first language isn't English - but he speaks and understands English as well as a native. His Lincoln Town car is BIG. It holds my bike. AJ has two GPS devices - his GPS and his phone - so he never gets lost. AJ uses a business model that's different than the model used by most East Bay cab drivers.... Most cab drivers park their car at a BART station and then wait for business to come to them. Some of these guys like to run up the meter. They have to because they don't get many customers and they need to make money. AJ is NOTHING like that. He gets most of his business from repeat-regular customers. He's not into the wait-at-BART thing. He goes after business - he doesn't wait for it to come to him. And he does little things for free too - like waiting for you to get money from an ATM - or helping you with your bike - or driving back to where he left you off because you left your hat in his car. Not only the best cab company in the area, but its the nicest owner you'll find. Typically the guy you call is named AJ and AJ is a good guy. He's respectful, not a cheat, and he is down to earth. He's also very funny. I would not consider this 24/7 and that kind of sucks. More like 7am-11pm. But I know that if you call ahead and make arrangements, he's accommodating and not going to rip you off. Small company which puts it at direct odds against the bigger Yellow and DeSoto teams, but those guys don't have a clue. Save your time, your money, and your sanity.
