Look at the photos for the condition of a rug they sold. At the Shoreline store, I purchased a rug that was tightly rolled and sealed with tape, so there was no way to inspect it at the store. When I got it home and opened it, it was in unacceptable condition: heavily stained, paint marks, and a strong cigarette odor. This is not an item that should have been on the sales floor. I brought it back within a week with the tag attached and receipt in hand. The manager Leonora did not start by looking at the condition. Instead, she went straight to finding reasons to deny the return. First saying there was no tag (there was), then saying they don't accept returns on "furniture." At no point did she engage with the actual issue. When I tried to show her why I was returning it, another employee inserted herself and escalated the interaction. I did raise my voice out of frustration (my voice carries) but I made no threats and was trying to explain a legitimate issue. Rather than hearing the concern or working toward a solution, the situation escalated quickly. The manager told me to leave or the police would be called for CRIMINALLY TRESSPASSING, and that is exactly what happened. Police were called over a return. I tried to de-escalate and offered reasonable solutions (exchange or completing my purchase), but the manager declined and stayed focused on denying the return and calling the police to have us removed for CRIMINAL TRESSPASSING! Even the responding officer looked at the rug and attempted to find an amicable resolution. My daughter, who was not involved in the interaction, was also threatened with trespass, which was upsetting and unnecessary. This should have been straightforward customer service: 1. The item was not in acceptable condition and the condition was against their own donation policy. 2. It was packaged in a way that prevented inspection 3. A reasonable review could have resolved it Instead, it escalated into a situation involving publicly funded law enforcement over a defective item. As a nonprofit serving the community, I would expect a greater emphasis on resolving issues directly rather than relying on public resources to shut down a legitimate concern. For a place called Bella's Voice, it was surprising how quickly the conversation was shut down. The executive director has chosen to ignore my formal complaint. A lot of the items are priced as if they were brand new, which defeats the purpose of shopping at a thrift store. Since this is a senior thrift store, I feel like items should be priced to actually sell. Moving more inventory would encourage people to come back, and it seems like that would do more to support the seniors than having items sit on the shelves because they're overpriced. On top of that, the worker at the front had an attitude, which made the experience feel unwelcoming and left me not wanting to come back. I really hope the pricing and customer service improve because I'd like to support the cause.

My know here is the same I have at most thrift shops they are 95% housewares and woman's clothing. As a man, I donate items that no longer fit or are just not my style and I assume I am not alone, that said, it's hard for me to find a selection of menswear at most thrift stores. This isn't my neighborhood, so it's less than likely I'll be back, but that said despite a friendly staff, this place is just not catering to men.

Additional parking was located up above/to the side of the store. The entrance/exit was straightforward to navigate and the open sign was clearly displayed along with store hours in the window. Entering the store, I was greeted by a worker and found myself facing a large area with lots of clothing. Walking in to the store on the search for thank you cards, I noticed a doorway to the left which had some home goods. I turned in and noted Christmas/holiday items on sale. After looking around, I found a stationary section with a number of different card options. I also found a bag of just envelopes. As I sometimes make cards for people, this was a sweet find as I could now mail the cards I made. I selected the envelopes and one of the thank you card options. The cashier area was located inside the entrance/exit. A bell was available to ding if the worker was not at the counter. My total came to less than four dollars and my cash payment was accepted. Leaving the parking lot, I found the fit could be a bit tight. However, one car departed as I was about to pull out, opening up additional space so my departure was not so tight.

Imagine my surprise when I received a nice check at the end of the month. I was so impressed with her company - very responsive, professional, and great at tracking items that I gave her for consignment.
