I don't like to write negative reviews, but overall, I was somewhat disappointed with Tiffany given how expensive her service was, transparency and how my hair held up at the wedding. Tiffany really nails the soft-glam look for makeup. It's very flattering but you still look like you. She's a pro for this What bothered me the most is she didn't mention she had a minimum until after she did my trial. It's not on her website and not in the informational email. In order to meet the minimum, we decided to add my mom and MIL into the schedule but this ended up changing our whole timeline for the morning at the last minute and, I had to wake up way earlier than I planned since she said it would take too long to set up at the Airbnb they were at, but OK. I did a trial with her a week before my wedding and the teasing really damaged my hair, I could barely brush it. My hair looked great during the first look, but it really didn't hold, and even by the ceremony it was falling out. Similarly, my MIL also had curls done and I noticed it didn't hold up either. Lastly, she overslept my trial (which she was very apologetic for). She offered a small discount, but I didn't really feel like it compensated for me taking the day off, spending a whole day driving to San Jose, waiting an hour, driving back, and then rescheduling. I did a trial with tiffany and ended up not moving forward. Tiffany did not communicate enough with me to understand what makeup style I wanted, asked me very few questions, and ended up misunderstanding my desired looking, giving me something that was heavy and very caked on, actually adding lots of lines to my face that weren't originally there. Although she said it would turn out good in pictures, i did not feel beautiful looking at myself in the mirror. Tiffany did try to make some changes to make me look more natural, but in my opinion they did not work, probably because I was already too caked. I showed my makeup to my fiance and he said I looked like that scene in Mulan and he was very dissatisfied. I don't want to post a pic, but my result was very similar to several other negative reviews I am now reading on this yelp page. Afterwards i found a different makeup artist who was extremely communicative, asked me 30-40 questions about my preferences, and then delivered a perfect look that left my skin smooth with far less lines or cakiness, but still very glam. In photos I also looked great. So I know it's possible! I am posting this review because the trial costs $450 whether or not you move forward afterwards, and i wish i had known some of these factors before paying for the trial. This 2nd artist was even more expensive than Tiffany, but i thought she was worth it. I think if the artist had offered a video consultation prior to the trial, i might have realized we were not a good fit and saved time and money. I got an 1-on-1 makeup class with Tiffany. I asked her to teach me the most foundational skills in makeup, especially applying foundation and eye makeup (the two skills i was not very good at). The class was fun and i feel like time passed by so fast. Tiffany was very detailed and thorough, she explained everything to me as we proceed through each step. I was a bit embarrassed to show her my makeup collection but she assured me that's okay. She would look through the products I have and tell me what works for my skin and my facial features. I booked Tiffany for my COVID beach wedding for hair and makeup. I asked for natural looking makeup and Tiffany nailed it. My family and friends were really impressed and I received so many compliments. I was a bit nervous because I didn't take trial (I didn't wanted to spend extra money) but Tiffany did meet me for quick consultation few days before the event, which helped me a lot to cool down my nerves. She also reassured me and we shared many makeup and hair pictures for inspirations. On the day of event, we started very early at 3:30am. It was really supportive of Tiffany to accommodate that, especially given it was Thanksgiving night. She also finished the job on time. I had asked Tiffany to do updo hairs (due to beach) and something which can be half opened for indoor events later in the day. I first worked with her for my engagement shoot and she managed to turn my waist length slightly frizzy hair into beautiful clean curls (it was a lot of work but she is a magician with her tools). I got married a few days ago, and Tiffany did an amazing job doing my hair and makeup for my wedding day. However, there were two other women with her to help do hair and makeup for my mother and my bridal party, and one of those women in particular really ruined the morning of my wedding for me. I think her name was "Cindy", or "Cynthia", but while she was curling my hair, that individual proceeded to tell me that she thought I had "no power in my family", was insinuating that I seemed weak, and that my sister who had gotten her hair done before me seemed to have "all the power". This individual also proceeded to say to my face "I need the bride to do this..." and "the bride should...", when I was standing right in front of her/the only one in a white robe, clearly the one who was the bride, but this individual was talking to me as if she didn't want to acknowledge me as the bride. This really upset me, and didn't make me feel how I wanted to feel the day of my wedding. I was already feeling really nervous and self-conscious the morning of my wedding, so this was an awful way to start my wedding day. This review is for Tiffany's personal makeup lesson. I have been a few makeup classes before, but I learned the most at Tiffany's class. First of all, she analyzed my skin type and told me what the preparation was for the make up application. Secondly, she looked at my makeup tools carefully and recommend what products I should consider investing. The best part was that after she demonstrated how to put my makeup in my right face, she wanted me to do it in my left face so she can critique me while I was doing it. In the second lesson, she wanted me to show her what I learned from the first lesson at the beginning before she moved forward to other parts of the makeup application, making sure I fully understood and digested the makeup knowledge in the right way. Didn't have the best experience with Tiffany. We did not align on communication and she did not spend enough time understanding my vision or asking clear questions. I had shown her an image of what I would want based on my previous hair and make up I've done when I was in a bridal party and she made it completely different, from a heavier make up and lip. I did not feel very comfortable when I voiced my concerns and she was also not able to match the lip color which was concerning. She repeatedly insisted that she had done the make up as the image I showed her, I think her technique is probably good but making your client feel understood and comfortable is critical, especially as you think about your wedding day and how important the make up is. Her style is much more heavy than light so that should be something to be considered. I have opted to not move forward and had requested her services 10 months in advance. We did not sign a contract but she did not return my deposit which she claimed was due to her inability to find new clients but most hair and make up artists are not booked in such far advance and I found that her unwillingness to understand my concerns and abrasive response another indication of poor communication skills. I feel like if she had tried to find an amicable solution I might have been inclined to work with her. I would tread cautiously and make sure to do more diligence and calls with her before moving forward! read more
