It was serviceable, but the honey oak builder-standard did not go well with the grey floors. Oh well, we made it work. After 7 years in the house, the finish was wearing, and some of the drawers wouldn't stay closed; we could finally say it was time to make the kitchen ours. I got quotes from several contractors and ended up going with Dan from Better than New Kitchens for several reasons: 1. He spent TIME with me to understand what I wanted; he also wasn't afraid to make recommendations to change what I initially thought in the interest of budget and what would actually work for my needs. 2. The quote was detailed. It included all the special features that we discussed, including separate pricing for some options I wasn't sure would fit the budget but wanted to consider. In quotes from other vendors, I couldn't tell if they had actually had listened to me and they did not include all of the features and options discussed. I work in requirements myself (software) and having all of it spelled out was very important to me so for sure I knew what I was paying for. 3. Dan's passion. This guy loves his work, and you can tell. All of that came to fruition in the build. Super efficient, professional team, and my kitchen is beautiful. No surprises! We didn't just refinish the existing kitchen; we also extended the kitchen against the back of our dining area wall. This gave me an amazing appliance garage, a mixer stand that pops up from a cabinet, and way, way more storage space. Highly recommend Dan and his team.

When possible I like to support small independent local businesses and made the call for an estimate . Dan the owner spent a lot of time at our in home visit to review the scope , made great suggestions on 2 new pots and pan drawers and assured us we would not know they were refaced but would look like new cabinets . We chose a beautiful Maple wood with new drawers on amazing soft close silent hardware . The work crew was professional , skilled craftsmen that figured out every little corner and angle to perfection . I am amazed at the quality of work . The transformation is stunning . My adult daughter just saw the new kitchen today for the first time and was so impressed she thought it was all new boxes from the ground up ! After hiring a contractor for that (remediation) and having a third party independent testing company test, to be sure the mold was gone, I was ready to rebuild. I interviewed 3 contractors, (one recommended by the remediation company and 2 others I found on my own). To be honest this whole process is not fun, in short, it's homeowners hell. Quentin and Urban Elements stood out above the other 2 contractors for the following reasons: Quick and professional response. He answered all my questions, when I asked about something he had missed (my wall was down to the wall studs and covered in plastic so it was hard to see), he took another look and had an answer within 24 hours. One of the contractors I did NOT hire didn't even know his ROC#, and took days just to let me know his company's license number. In addition the communication was great and Quentin was always available by text and responded quickly. When I did sign with Urban Elements the contract was clear: timeline, payment schedule and completion. They adhered to everything in writing. (Contrast that to a contractor who wanted me to agree to abide by the laws of Texas, when I live in Arizona.) Additionally Quentin assured me that every subcontractor who worked on my house would be licensed. There were several subcontractors and everyone who came, was a true pro, they showed up on time, were respectful and did a great job. I honestly hope I never have to rebuild a room again but Quentin made a truly stressful experience 100% better and I feel fortunate to have found him. We paid this company $16,500 for our countertops, and the workmanship and lack of accountability…read morehave been completely unacceptable. We spent TWO MONTHS planning this project, provided all specifications upfront, including plans for our countertop appliance garage, and were taken to a stone supplier's showroom to select our slabs. Of the four slabs selected for our project, one had a visible fish-shaped imperfection, which was used without any discount offered to us. Despite measuring our kitchen TWICE, they incorrectly fabricated and installed our countertops, leaving crooked countertops, uneven overhangs, misaligned stone, improper cuts, and a large visible seam in our backsplash that we were specifically promised would be one continuous piece. Their proposed solution to THEIR measurement errors was to cut down our BRAND-NEW kitchen cabinets, which we refused. Their crew also scratched our new cabinetry and left our front yard littered with trash, energy drink cans, wrappers, and installation materials. Jonathan personally guaranteed that if any slabs were incorrectly cut, they would replace them at NO additional cost to us. However, when we asked him to honor that guarantee, he instead suggested we pay half the cost of another slab or purchase one ourselves. We have been more than reasonable, allowing them to return for adjustments, discussing multiple possible resolutions, and giving Jonathan numerous opportunities to make this right. Unfortunately, the installation remains visibly defective, and he has since avoided our repeated attempts to resolve the situation. This is NOT a matter of being picky or difficult homeowners. These are legitimate measurement, fabrication, and installation errors. Even opening our kitchen drawers exposes how crooked and uneven the countertops are. We will be uploading photographs showing the poor workmanship, misalignment, and damage to our cabinetry so others can see the results for themselves. After spending $16,500, we should not be financially responsible for correcting THEIR mistakes. We have simply asked them to honor their guarantee by properly replacing or correcting the defective work at no additional cost or providing an appropriate refund. Instead, we have been left with improperly installed countertops, scratched cabinets, broken promises, and no resolution. I absolutely DO NOT recommend this company. Homeowners deserve contractors who honor their commitments, take responsibility for their mistakes, and stand behind their work. BEWARE BEFORE HIRING THIS COMPANY!
