Plaza Oaxaca - Street tacos - 2 each pollo, carne asada and carne enchilada

First time ordering from PO last night. This was a delivery order through doordash so I had no…read moreinteractions with the staff. Review will be entirely food based. Order showed up REALLY quick which made me wonder if the food was fresh prepped or if it was made ahead of time and heated up. Everything seemed fresh enough so I honestly have no idea. We ordered some chicken burritos, an Al Pastor burrito, a bacon cheeseburger deluxe and some guac with chips. The food - The guac was honestly the best I've had out. Very impressed by it and would give it a 5 all day long and into the night. Very tasty indeed. Chunks of everything and not just a smooth paste. The bacon cheeseburger was really good as well. Fresh tasting beef, nice bun. Overall it was a good burger. Easily better than most dedicated pizza joint burger platters. The fries were big and fluffy. Not as crunchy as I'd like but still really tasty. Here's where it takes a turn. The burritos were not great. They weren't terrible but I would never order them again. All burritos were really bland and the rice inside was overcooked so they were kind of a mushy mess. The chicken was a bit dry and flavorless. The Al Pastor just tasted like pineapple because there were actual chunks of pineapple inside the burrito. I LOVE a good Al Pastor but this was not a good one. Overall really disappointed in the burritos. I would probably put them slightly below taco bell in terms of burrito quality. Price to portion size seemed a bit off too. The couple Mexican places we frequent seem to offer nearly double the size of the burritos for around the same price if not a little cheaper. Based on this experience I probably will only order from PO if other places are closed as was the case tonight. Overall just OK but can't seem to compete with some of the others in and around Bristol.

The Grocer at Parkville Market

You won't know the market is there, because it is curiously NOT listed on the Parkville Market's…read morewebsite. But if you walk to the far left side of the market in search of the restrooms, you'll see a sign and a downward staircase that will bring you here. It carries food items from Spain, Italy, and the Mediterranean area. Lots of canned fish, pasta, oils, vinegars, crackers, sauces, olives , meats and cheese and the like. It reminded me a lot of the little grocery store inside the old Costa Del Sol restaurant. There were some freebie cheese and cracker samples, and a sweet and friendly young lady there to greet us. We were the only one in the store, and I sure hope the market adds The Grocer to their website and list of vendors to encourage more customers to visit. Surprising to us, was that the pricing was very reasonable!! We picked up a jar of fig jam for $6.49 and a big 25 ounce jar of Fra Diavlo sauce for $4.99. I am certain that every future trip we make to the Parkville Market will end with a walk down that staircase into the Grocer. Hope to see you there !

The Grocer, now upstairs at Parkville Market, is a very small specialty food market. The Grocer is too small to provide a one stop shopping experience. Rather, you're more likely to go there when you're already at the Market and you need a few high end items for guests or niche home cooking. Example, if you're cooking a Spanish-themed meal and you want better sherry vinegar and Spanish olive oil than you can buy at your near home grocery, you can get that at the Parkville Market Grocer. That can be very convenient.
