On our first visit we ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich and Wild Turkey. The service was so good, all of the guys behind the deli made sure everyone was promptly assisted. When I lifted the bag of our 2 sandwiches, it was as heavy as a brick!! The sandwiches were so big we split one for lunch and one for dinner. The winner was the pulled pork, but we loved the turkey too. We returned a couple of days later for another pulled pork sandwich and I also ordered a giant dill pickle I saw on the counter. This place also has a huge selection of raw meats and prepared foods and a bunch of random local goodies and sauces to try. Again, I wish I took a picture of my sandwich, but I forgot about the existence of my phone while I was enjoying it :)

It's always great to see a new businesses open up, especially when a location has been vacant for a little bit. We decided to stop in, and were pleasantly surprised at how friendly everyone is, and the variety of items they have in stock. The one thing we were looking for was sold out, but made up in other things we ended up purchasing. They have a very nice selection of halal items in their frozen section, and we noticed that they also had a set up in their frozen section back for halal meats. They have a lot of things I need in my baking, and this place will definitely be my go-to for ingredients! We will be back for sure!

We were greeted immediately by a very friendly young man who directed us to the back for take out food. They had basically two items ready chicken and rice with veggies or beef and rice with veggies. They are expanding into the connecting space for an indoor dining area. The people, the aroma and the flavor are the positives. The bad news is the both the chicken and beef were so over cooked as to be dried out and nearly inedible. I have hope for this place and wish them the best. We'll try them again in the future. It's worth checking out.

This place has the authentic, old-school atmosphere you hope to find in a longtime Italian market,…read moreand the people working there could not have been more welcoming. You can immediately understand why it has been a staple of the Torrington community for decades. I'm looking forward to returning to try the frozen pastas, specialty items, and famous hot buffet, which I did not sample during this visit. Unfortunately, the deli sandwich itself fell short of what I had hoped for. The portion was generous, but the selection was somewhat limited. I ordered mine on what was described as a "hard roll," but there was nothing hard or crusty about it. It seemed to be ordinary soft bread shaped into roll form--fluffy, nearly tasteless, and without the character or soul of a proper Italian roll. It detracted considerably from an otherwise generously made sandwich. The retail-brand white and wheat bread displayed for customers who wanted sliced bread should probably have been a clue that authentic Italian loaves were not part of the deli selection. Since it is tomato season, I was also disappointed that the tomato and all produce on my sandwich's. They tasted as though they had been nearly frozen - bought cheaply as commodities. Like the bread, unimportant to the sandwich experience ? Two stars overall: two for the genuinely tremendous people and one for the history, authenticity, and wonderful old-school character of the store. There is a great deal to appreciate here, and I will gladly return--but next time, I'll explore the prepared foods and specialty items rather than the deli sandwiches.
