But I'm not complaining! The Croissant & Pain du Chocolate were my favorites. Surprisingly, the exterior was not as crispy as I anticipated but they were flaky, soft, and buttery. The chocolate was also a nice sweet bite within the Pain du Chocolate. The Chocolate Babka Slice & Cinnamon Roll were more on the dense side but also enjoyable, especially when paired with a coffee. I had quite an affinity for the tarte aux pommes, a choice that helped fill a slight homesickness for my native New York and proved to be a delight as stunning at is it sweet-tooth-satisfying. This was one of the first places I would bring my companions visiting from out of town, whether for an evening dessert or for their unbeatable lunch deal. While I still crave the triangle aux amandes and the pain aux raisins, by the time my stay had come to a close I was undeniably partial to the flan. It was a creation so perfectly creamy and luxuriously luscious that I simply could not resist it when the afternoon craving for something sweet came along! The prominently-displayed madeleines caught my eye, mainly the raspberry filled (2,70 €) with a bit of jam peeking through, as well as the pistachio flavor (2,20 €) with its unmistakeable green hue. The shell-shaped cakes were sweet & spongy, as to be expected, but not markedly special. A passable pick-me-up while we strolled hilly Montmartre, but after one try, I'm not in a rush to return.

I couldn't resist getting a bag of the almond cookies for the road, and I later discovered that these tasted just like marzipan candy. While located in a touristy shopping area, Biscuiterie de Montmartre felt charming and stood out for their selection of high-quality cookies and sweets that are perfect for gifting.

To be fair, they did also sell artisan chocolate and cookies, but the éclairs were obviously the bread and butter of the shop. The éclairs at L'Éclair de Génie were stunning, and it was hard to just choose one or a few to try. One that particularly stood out to me was an éclair that looked like it was spray painted in a shiny bronze color. (By the way this particular éclair was amazing.) I ended up getting a box of mini éclairs for 35€. 3,50€ per mini was a bit pricey considering that I've seen full-sized éclairs for the same price or even cheaper at other places. The éclairs were overall great. I tried every one but the lemon flavor, and they did not disappoint. The bronze one was exceptional as I had hoped for. I also particularly liked the ones with vanilla bean filling. Although I reserve the best éclair I ever had from a different patisserie that I won't name here (but feel free to ask me about it), these éclairs were top notch.

I got a few pastries and it was still early enough that they were still warm! The Croissant was probably the best I had on this trip. It helped that the Croissant was fresh and warm, but it was also crispy on the outside and buttery & flaky on the inside. The Pain au Chocolat was also great but it could have used more chocolate for my liking. The Chausson aux Pommes was sweet, slightly acidic from the apples, and definitely heavier of the pastries. I've also never had fresh madeleines before and knew this would be the place to try them. The Madeleine Glacée were buttery and lightly sweet; these actually go so well with a cup of coffee or just a bite if you need a quick snack. All in all, great try!

Celebrated for his Kouign Amann, less tightly formed than others but certainly not lacking for Butter or Sugar, Canele lack the expected crisp exterior while Blé Sucré's "Brest" lacks the signature shape and would better be called a Hazelnut Religeuse instead.
