I visited the Seattle Hill location at 3:25 pm on Aug 9, 2025. The front desk clerk did not greet me. I had to say hello to her. I went back to the spray tan room and the machine wouldn't start. Since I had already stripped naked, I decided to call the store to ask the clerk to turn the machine on. I called the store, selected option 5# and got routed to the store - or so I thought. The call abruptly ended. So I shouted out the door and asked if she could turn the machine on. She made no attempt to come down the hall to address my issue. She yelled at me so I yelled back. The machine finally turned on. I did my spray tan and on the way out let her know that the phone tree wasn't working and I apologized for yelling. I believe in treating service people with great kindness and respect. Desert Sun, given the state of the economy, your services are a luxury, not a necessity. Do better. I saw deals online was having dinner in the area thought I would swing by and spray tan because I saw a deal online I walked asked the girl what deal do u have she was like none we have no deals I was like I saw them online she said idk so I had to look them up myself and show her and she wa alike oh ya ok ,then because I did not have ID on Me she refused to let me spray tan like WTH why do I have to provide id to tan im not a minor clearly she can see that so it's a ridiculous policy I have never been there and absolutely would never try again the girl was rude and clearly didn't even know there specials . Update: when I just left I asked her to write down how many I had left and she wrote I only had two left so I walked back in and said you just told me four she was like no you have two. I made her recheck and "I guess you do have 3". Seriously ?!?! Every time I come in I ask how many tans I have left since I always buy packages. Yesterday I asked how many were left, to which I was told 5 gold and 1 spray. I used one gold only and yet magically today the spray has disappeared as well as the gold. I asked what was supposedly left and she told me 4 so I used another. Make sure to verify what you've paid for when you come in and hope they don't vanish like mine did. No offer to fix it, just its not here, you can buy another. Pass. There are so many better options. Also be sure to check if the beds are clean because they often are not. read more

After arriving to get a spray tan for the first time at Friday around 5, the young girl didn't tell me what to do, and what room number to go in. When I was confused and asked her to restart the machine, she rolled her eyes right in front of me. This kind of disrespect should never be acceptable, her customer skills were terrible and made me feel awful walking out. read more

I don't know why it says that this location is "CLOSED" because they aren't. First time tanning @ a salon. I tan very easily so I wasn't planning on tanning for more than a couple months. So to find out that signing up for the GOLD membership included a start-up fee, first & last month's payment, goggles, lotion & extender. Total ended up being $121. Then every month after that is $57/month. That is soooo pricey! I feel sorry for people who don't tan as easily as I do because that is a whole lot of maintenance. So with the $57/month pricetag I am freezing my membership tomorrow. Everytime I've tanned there the line for the SUPER (which I don't use cause it looks like it can fry my skin -_-) is soooo long. People trying to get tan fast. I only go in for 10-12 mins. in the MEDIUM. Love how they have fans for your face, body & feet. FABULOUS! Having the music control while tanning is a lifesaver. The service here is alright. When there's a line they take their time with customers even if the line is out the door. I guess that would be either good or bad depending on how you look at it. I go out of my way. I live in Lake Stevens and go the the Seattle Hill location. I don't have a salon near me and Everett mall is closer. But , the girls at Seattle Hill are very friendly and it's never busy. No, pressure to buy and when I was ready to buy a new lotion, the girl let me try hers to see how I liked it before buying. Needless to say, I bought it but it wasn't in stock. So, she ordered it and I got a call when came in. I took her advice and I have seen better results. Love Desert Sun read more

I'm actually really tired of this place and the girls who work here. Anytime I come in for my conventional bed they try to convince me to upgrade. I really do not want an upgrade. I've heard it all and really....I'm fine. Then this other girl I told her a price range of tanning lotion I wanted to buy since I didn't have any. She convinced me to buy a TAN EXTENDER rather an actual tanning lotion. They don't work the same and I kinda felt stupid for coming in with the bottle in my hand. I've cancelled my membership with Desert Sun before and it's like pulling teeth. But it must be done because the business is no good here or I would say at any and all locations. This is the worst location ever. They never replace their bulbs, all the beds are nasty. The girl Eman that works here talks about the customers behind their backs. If you ever encounter this Eman girl, she will talk bad about you. Everytime I've been to this location she's always talking bad about someone. Super annoyed. I call to make an appointment for a wrap and was told just come in anytime it's fully opened. I get there and was told her mistake. Gave it to someone who called after me and to come in tomorrow. I have to work. What's the point of calling and told to come in anytime when after I make arrangements for someone to watch my kids to get nothing but well what do you want me to do when it's her fault! been going here for years, because it's near my house, it's almost col enough to see your own breath and the girls say the owner wont let them turn up the heat, i suggest the owner get naked then lay on a frozen bed and see how they feel about that :( the conventional beds are kinda gross, you can see dirt and hair under the glass and the floors are always dirty and have dust bunnies. The stopped leaving towels in the rooms to "save energy and water" but i think it's to save a buck, come on just leave them in the room! i usually upgrade my beds to medium and high pressure and those beds are pretty nice. they have the worst music and the speakers in the rooms are hit and miss. most of the girls are nice, not very helpfulbut nice. as for the Manager, she was great til she was promoted now she's snotty and rude and loves to call it her salon. she's gotten way to big for her britches, last thing i want is attitude from someone i just gave 300 bucks to. writing this makes me wonder why i even go here, it's amazing what location will do for a business. boooo read more

I love this Desert Sun- I go almost daily and I always find it clean, the staff ready to help with anything(including protecting my nails from mystic spray!) and let me know what specials fit my tanning patterns. The manager, Tiarraree, always greets me with a smile and suggests whether I should do a super, medium or what (with my membership you can choose your bed) as to what will give me the best color. The heater is on in the mystic and the beds are warm with fans built in. Not sure where the other 2 reviewers are going but this is by far the friendliest, best run salon in King and Snohomish counties. They have gone out of their way for me and I appreciate it. I don't know what everyone is complaining about! Everyone here has been very helpful and nice to me. I have very pale skin and I got a membership as a gift. I also tan in the super bed and I got a little pink once, but I just went down a minute and I'm fine now. Im loving the results and I got a 20% discount on my tanning lotion when I first came in! I don't know if that's customary, but it was nice. Every time I've been there its not busy, and my tanning bed has always been clean with a little towel and sign. I did go in one time and the towel looked used and there was no sign, but the girl was a bit standoffish as well. She seemed not very interested in her job, but some people have bad days as far as I see it! I love the hours since I work late. I love this place and so far it's been clean, the employees are nice and helpful, and the tanning beds are worth the money. read more

I normally tan at the mill creek salon because The main girl that works there is much more professional and the salon is a lot cleaner. But lately I have been getting nocolor because the bulbs in super do nothing!! They probably haven't been changed in a year! So I decided to try the salon on seattle hill road again (it's about two minutes from my house) in the past I stopped tanning there because the dark haired girl who works at night is super bitchie and always talking on the phone to her boyfriend or arguing with him in the middle of the salon. So a couple weekends ago I was in a friends wedding and wanted to get more color and they were supposed to have newer bulbs. So I go in and it's the same girl working, I go in and she was on the phone. Most people would get of the phone but she just told whoever she was talking to just a second. She held the phone in one and hand and checked me in. I was doing a super and a spray tan and she handed me the Robe and said the spray tan machine would be ready when I got out of the bed. I went into the bed that was dirty. When I got out someone was in the spray room so I had to sit in the Lobby in my robe. The girl came out of the mystic and the girl workong was talking to her friend that had came in to tan for about 5 minutes before she finally got then spray ready for me. I have had many bad experiences at this salon all with the same girl. I cancelled my 60$ a month membership and am going to try the other salon in the mill creek. I'm not going to spend my money to tan in a dirty salon with rude employees. Good luck staying in business with that staff!! read more

Wow, very shocked to see 11/6/11 review. My experience has always been a very good one. The manager (dark haired girl) is actaully my favorite person there. I will sit and talk with her even if my bed is ready if there isn't anyone else waiting. She has been so helpful to me on many occasions over the years. It's because of her that one of my daughters switched tanning salons just so they could tan at her salon. And no, they didn't know eachother prior to tanning. She has the right balance of friendly, professional, helpful and yet she is in charge of that salon. I have been pleased with most all of the other employees there too over the years. I do wish the speakers worked better though. The towels are right out in the open for the taking if you want one so that is no problem for me. I very much like this salon and will continue tanning there. read more

If I could give this place minus 10 stars - I would. I came in looking for a light spray tan as I was leaving town for a wedding. I was taken back to the room, where I was told that I needed to put lotion in my cuticles before I went in the booth. Right before the attendant left, I asked her why it said I should put it all over my hands on the diagram on the wall. She said "You can put it all over if you want". Ok... I was told that once the unit was heated up, the automated voice would tell me I could begin the process. I sat there for 5 minutes and it just kept repeating the same message saying it was warming up. I finally went and got the attendant, who came back and said she didn't know why it was doing that. She sat there and listened to the recording for a minute and said for me to try it again and see if it worked. It finally did boot up. When I got in the booth, the voice instructed me where to put my feet - as there are 4 raised footprints you're supposed to put your feet on. Well guess what? The ONLY one that was numbered was 1. All the rest were so faded out they were almost invisible. I didn't know where to put my feet, and so wound up with an uneven tan - I found as the color progressed in the next 24 hours. The other charming thing that happened was that when I got out of the booth, the soles of my feet were completely orange. The attendant had told me beforehand that I should take a baby wipe and clean up any excess if that happened but guess what? It WOULDN'T COME OFF. I was on vacation - in a wedding party - with an uneven tan and orange feet. Thanks a lot, Desert Tan. One last thing. The two attendants were so busy chit-chatting discussing their personal lives and checking their I-phones that they didn't even notice I was leaving til the door was almost shut behind me. read more
