Love this place , great vet, down to earth and reasonable. My 3rd vet I tried since moving here apparently third time is a charm.

Simply the best, Knowledgeable. Kindness of staff. Easy to make an appointment. Very reasonable rates. Thank You for treating both my dog and myself with kindness and shared knowledge. read more

Dr. Love seems to half ass his job. He killed my baby all because he wouldn't keep her after a rattle snake bite or been honest with me.... Let me explain August 2024 my dog was bit by a rattle snake he was the second vet I went too he gave her meds and anti venin for the rattle snake bite and the necrosis she was having. He did not keep her he told me to come back in 3 days on the second day I wrote his vet tech that was helping me while I was at his office at 830 pm; I found her on Facebook because I was worried about my dog she was breathing heavy i was sending her videos and minutes later she's dead. A month later my cat gets bit by a rattlesnake that was in the house... I take him to an ER vet off Ridgecrest and I also explained what had happened to my dog and the vet there told me he should've kept my dog for observation because animals can go into heart failure like my cat experienced while he was at the ER vet. I lost my best friend because Dr Love couldn't be honest and say he could not keep her go to an ER. I would not trust him with anyone's fur baby. read more

This is from a friend. My heart is broken but the decision was made to put Tilly down. Lee had to go see her for himself and she would need to have me push on her bladder to pee and might not ever be able to walk again. Everything was a maybe. All I can say is we had an energetic puppy, then took her to Desert Mountain Veterinarian in piñon hills for a spay, we didn't get the same dog back. Lethargic, wouldn't eat, taking very tiny steps if she walked at all. When I called them she said the medication doesn't make the dog shake (which means pain) and that they my dog must have gotten into my meds. And then a week after her spay she couldn't walk. Love you Tilly! read more

I recommend that you go to Desert Mountain Vet . Clinic. You will not be disappointed. They have an affordable shot clinic on Friday's . The Dr . And Staff are very caring and compassionate for all their fur patients . In my opinion. This review is a long time in the making. I could never write this for the longest time due to the grief of losing my gelding. But i had to clean my tack for auction and found his sympathy card. This vet is amazing. They were so great and kind with Leo even when he took his last breaths. And they were judgement free about me euthanizing before he could have another terrible colic episode (in which he became very prone to.) I want to thank all the staff and Dr. Loveless. You all made such a hard loss easier. Heres a photo of the dearly missed baby boy read more

After searching for in-home euthanasia for my dog and my sisters beloved Coco. I was referred by Victor Valley pet group to call Desert Mountain Veterinary. This was the right decision. The whole office was so kind and thoughtful in arranging a calm and peaceful goodbye. I can't thank you all enough for the excellent care we received today. This office provided a reasonable price to administer this procedure. Ending your best friend's life shouldn't cost you a mortgage payment! As several I called wanted to charge. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Highly Recommend! Desert Mountain Veterinary truly cares about your pets as much as you do. I discovered Dr. Loveless several years ago and even though I have moved, he is the only doctor I trust with my animals. I drive over 90 minutes to see him and he is worth it! I have complete confidence in his abilities and know that my animals are getting the treatment they need. He is knowledgeable, trustworthy, honest, and ethical. I have two senior dogs who have started to develop more health issues as they age. When you find a lump, or one of them develops a cough that keeps them and you up all night it's frightening and you feel helpless. They're not just my pets, they're a part of my family. I know they get top notch care at Desert Mountain Veterinary and that allows me to rest easy. Thank you Dr. Loveless!! read more

Great experience, loved the women at the Front desk our pets are every thing to us . Happy to find a great Vet!

If I could give lower I would Although the vet is very good. The staff has had a tremendous turnover The newer staff is rude and has no regard or respect for peoples time. They obviously have no idea on how to schedule appointments as the wait time for an appointment exceeds 1 hour The receptionist cannot give a straight answer on how the billing works for a castration with vouchers 3 different stories for the same thing You must have a pre-op exam. Ok I can go with that. But by a trainee tech? Not even the doctor but u are charging randomly 25-50? read more

Desert Mountain is the best! When my dog hopped the fence and cut himself in a sensitive area, I called all over the High Desert trying to get any office to see him on short notice. I called Desert Mountain first, as we had been there before and they are always courteous, prompt and empathetic. When I first called, they informed me that they unfortunately didn't have any openings for a few days. I asked if we could be notified of any cancellations, and they said they would call us if something came up. I called so many other offices, some didn't answer at all, others had me on hold just to hang up and I was starting to panic. As I was about to leave to drop in on some other vet office- I received a call from Desert Mountain saying that they were going to fit my boy in, that it may take awhile, but they wanted to get him in that day to make sure he was okay. I drove him to them, and even though he was scared and growling in the waiting room, they were kind, patient and understanding to us. We were seen within the hour, and they treated my dog with efficiency, kindness and understanding. I really, really appreciate what they do here, and how they were able to squeeze us in and do what they could to help my boy. He had an exam with the vet techs, and they were so sweet to him, which I appreciate, knowing how scared he is of strangers. I was only charged $50 for his exam, and Dr. Loveless let me know that he was going to be okay, and for me to keep an eye on his healing and to call them if we needed anything in the future. Thank you so much again, Desert Mountain, this is the only vet my family and I will be trusting for any of our veterinary needs. Thank you for caring enough to call us back, and to fit us in to your busy day, that's a rare thing to find these days from a business! Again, Enzoe and I really appreciate it. read more

I took my dog here 2 years ago to be put to sleep. They gave her the paralytic and left us in there for 10 minutes. I had to blink my poor dogs eyes for her, and tongue out on the floor, she couldn't move for the whole 10 mins. It was absolutely terrible. Never left a bad review. Now, today, my mom took my brother's 2 year old pitbull to get her fixed. She was healthy and as spunky as can be. They told her to take her home and she would come out of the anesthesia. She died 45 mins after getting her home!!! My brothers baby is dead. Do Not Take Your Pets Here. They are negligent. Not just once but twice. I would never recommend them. read more

Hello Tri-Community Residents, I want to share yesterday's experience at Desert Mountain Veterinary at 655 CA-138, Pinon Hills, Ca 92372. We have been taking our family members there for years with no problems, and received excellent service with a great attitude. However, yesterday I had a very bad experience that I feel I need to make everyone aware of. I took Jazzy in for the required physical examination a few months before the scheduled appointment. Today was the fastest I could get her in because they were booked up. After the examination I was given an estimate with options. I was told I could pick the options that best fit our financial situation. I chose to pay for IV fluids for her during the procedure, I chose to pay for CPR if necessary, and I chose to pay for post-op pain meds. I declined to pay for blood testing because she is young and strong. Our appointment was at 8:15 yesterday for a spaying ovariectomy or ovariohysterectomy. I had trouble getting her in the truck because she doesn't like rides like my dog Missile does. I noticed how strong she was trying to get her in my truck. I dropped her off on time and left because they said it would take all day. I received a phone call at 9:42 am just after I dropped her off. They stated Jazzy had defecated in her kennel and that she had worms. They wanted me to fill a prescription for dewormer and I declined. I advised the receptionist on the phone that Jazzy had already been treated with pyrantel pamoate/praziquantel "7-1 dewormer 12 days ago, and she is getting her second dose on day 15 as per the directions". She then stated "so you're declining to fill the prescription" and I said "yes" Because she's already been treated and I already have the medication. They said normally they don't do the surgery if the dog has worms, however, they did not articulate that to me on that phone call, that they definitely decided not to do the surgery, nor did they say you can come pick her up now. The phone call lasted 1 minute. I assumed they were going to do the surgery based on the information I gave them. I continued to work through out my day. At the end of the day, I received another phone call from the Desert Mountain Veterinary at 3:07 PM, they stated that they did not want to do the surgery today after all stating "Jazzy was not reacting well to the pre anesthesia." They wanted to do blood work to make sure she was not anemic and send Jazzy home with deworming medication, to do the surgery at a later date. They asked what my thoughts were on that. Me thinking about our previous conversation on the phone earlier that day at 9:42am, outlined above. I replied, "at this point, I'm just going to come pick up my dog and find another vet I think you're just wasting my time." They replied "ok" without hesitation. Once I got there to pick up Jazzy, The receptionist asked "are you here to pick up Jazzy?" I replied "Yes." I then went to sit down on the bench by the window facing the receptionist. There were two of us customers in the waiting room. The receptionist asked us "so who's going first" and we looked at her kind of confused. The other customer that was sitting right next to me said "I was here first, but I'm early so he can go first". The receptionist said to me "I can bill you out now" I replied, "for what you guys really didn't do anything but waste my time." She said "Well Jazzy was on IV fluids all day." I said, "You know what, can you go get the Doctor, I want to talk to him about this situation." I was told that the doctor was not there and they would have him call me. I always have paid them in full right when services were rendered but this time they didn't do the spay procedure I asked for. They finally brought my dog out, and the receptionist handed me a standard client termination letter printed from online with the companies letter head on it. This is when the receptionist raised her voice and said "your not listening to me, we have your dogs safety in mind. I told her "I'm hearing everything you're telling me" , " I can't believe you're raising your voice to me, that this is how you treat a customer that spends thousands here." All I wanted to do is get my dog spayed. I did not want to pay for dewormer medication as Jazzy is already being treated with medication. If they had told me to come and get Jazzy in the morning, and told me that they weren't gonna do the procedure today and that we would have to reschedule until Jazzy had finished her deworming treatment, none of this would have happened. Instead they kept my dog there the whole day, on unnecessary IV fluids that I only paid for to be administered during the procedure. I told them I was going to make a post about what happened to me here today. Three employees yelled at me and said "get out now" right after I told them that. My dog came out fully alert and when she got out of the truck after the short drive home, she immediately ran o read more

Great service, great Vet and not overly priced, very reasonable and nice people! We drive far cause they are that great.

The receptionist are nimrods . They have no clue how to schedule appointments and if the doctor has an emergency they NEVER call to advise clients about a possible wait time that may be coming up for them. I'm very surprised that with such a great doctor and assistants that the owners allow this to happen . read more

As someone who has been to all three vets in Phelan for years, this is our favorite. Dr Loveless is very thorough and gentle with the animals, and offers great insight into your fur babies. They have taken care of us when we had to put our baby down, and are helping us take care of our other babies and new puppy. Thanks guys! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. But unfortunately, that isn't an option. I took my Dane puppy in Wednesday for an ear crop after hearing amazing reviews and being HIGHLY recommended to me. Once I heard from them for pickup, I was excited to bring my puppy home and see how this ear crop was after expecting it to be exceptional. When we went to pick my puppy up, the technicians brought her out and one of the ears was bleeding. After asking for paper towels and being told to apply pressure, we insisted that the bleeding was excessive. A technician took my puppy back inside and came back with an ice pack and was told the bleeding would stop, just apply pressure to the ear with towels and and the ice pack. The bleeding wouldn't stop and they offered to keep the dog overnight, with profuse bleeding from the ear, and nobody there to care for her. I chose to take my puppy home and monitor and apply pressure since that would supposedly fix the problem. After an hour drive, the bleeding did not stop. The amount of blood was INSANE. We bled through the rag the hospital provided, paper towels, tampons, and anything we could use to absorb such large amounts of blood. At this point, my puppy was LATERAL THE ENTIRE TIME and we were COVERED in blood. We chose to take her to emergency since we had zero help from the hospital responsible for this. The next day, we took the puppy back and was greeted by an extremely unprofessional, rude lady at the front desk. After explaining my problem, I was told it was my fault for not leaving the dog overnight. IF I CHOSE TO DO SO, I CAN GUARANTEE THEY WOULDVE COME IN TO A DEAD DOG. They finally took my puppy back, brought her back after a while and said the problem was solved. The bleeding was under control and there should be no problem. What they neglected to do was explain what they did. I am an experienced Vet Tech at another facility and have experience with ear crops amongs other surgeries. Every single person was very rude and not helpful at this facility. I'm very disappointed in the care they give to animals and the way they treat owners. I am still dealing with this problem and have chose to go to another vet that has the competence to treat people and animals the way they should be treated. The sutures are falling out, I have open incisions, and a puppy that very obviously doesn't feel good. I have bred Danes for years and have have done a good amount of ear crops at a vet I trusted. After their passing, I had to find someone that I could trust. This is NOT the place to go. Not only did they completely botch my dogs ears, they LIED about the price, LIED about explaining the price to me (which they never did) and blamed all the problems on me. If any patient left the practice I work at in such TERRIBLE shape, not only would we be extremely embarrassed, but people would be FIRED. To the Dr's and their staff: please take lessons on how to treat people the way they deserve to be and maybe not blame the customers. I will never EVER recommend your practice to anyone and will tell everyone to steer clear of this sham. read more

First, I left a message outside of business hours. After a few weekdays had passed, I realized they chose to ignore my voicemail. I called back during business hours to then make an appt. Small thing, but it does speak to customer service and courteousness/responsiveness. Then, I brought my cat to the place. They met me outside, brought her in. She collapses on her hind legs, but doesn't seem to have pain (More a circulation issue, as she stretches legs out and keeps walking. She's just 6 years old, so less than likely it's arthritis). 10 minutes later, they came out and said they were having trouble getting her out of the carrier as she was hissing, threatening to scratch/bite. I asked if I could go in to assist (and maybe she would feel more comfortable with me in the room). They said no. They said they'd prescribe medication for the pain (but it definitely doesn't seem like it's pain as I've checked on that myself). No x-rays, no exam, no physical from the office. But I get a bill for the medication AND a full office visit: 'Exam-Physical', which wasn't performed because the cat didn't come out of the carrier for the time she was in there. Calling the office, they said... you'll get charged for an office visit for just showing up, basically. I'm now at the same spot with my cat that I had started at, but with $$ in the hole now...And no solutions for the situation my cat is in. On a whim, I gave the medication. Made no difference to the collapsing. Would not recommend. read more

Dr. Loveless was very gentle & kind to my jittery little girl Roxy. He wasn't overly aggressive in his treatment of her. Took my dog 11 days ago for a routine spay , 5 days after she was leaking (took her Tuesday the vet tech stated it was a small seroma and they drained 6cc) by thursday she was leaking bad... I drove from apple valley 1 hr away to Pinon hills... they wrapped her $47 .... I get home and the wrap wasn't even covering the hole she was leaking from... drove back they re wrapped it (see pictures) it was so tight preventing her from urinating ... so I drove back a 3rd time for them to tell me just to leave the bandages off!!!! 6 hours -3 trips! And $47 to leave how we originally came in! Not once did they apologize... tried stating "oh the bandages might be slipping... they never slipped they were never wrapped correctly!!!!!I have sent multiple photos (where it shows blood and puss and they respond with that's "bruising" ....it's not bruising at all!!!! Finally I gave up and took her to apple valley animal hospital and Dr Jessen saw her, stated her spay scar is wayyyy too large (3x larger than it should have been) and is either caused from an inexperienced vet or he had a struggle operating on her ... she's a 37lb Australian shepherd (at this point I'm wondering if he lets the vet techs do the spaying) ... this poor dog has been in a crate for 11 days and we have to keep her in there for 4-7 more days! Our new vet prescribed a different antibiotic and a sedative to hopefully heal this girl back!!! Be very careful... something you think is a routine surgical exam that a vet should be able to perform but clearly wasn't! What a NIGHTMARE read more

The care that my cat received at Desert Mountain Veterinary was abysmal, at best. I was not told how much it would cost to examine my cat until after the examination was finished. The price was close to $300. The vet never gave me any information about what was wrong with my cat, the supposed treatment they suggested was a dietary supplement, which did nothing. As my cat's health continued to worsen I decided that my cat needed to be euthanized, unfortunately the vet tech at this clinic was not competent with this procedure, my cat was screaming in agony during the botched attempt to euthanize her. It was obvious that the incompetent vet tech had missed my cat's vein and injected a tranquilizer into the muscle of my cat's back leg. My cat was never "sedated " as the idiot vet tech had claimed she would be. The people who work at this clinic, in my opinion, are cheats, liars and frauds. read more
