Our rescue reached out to Mark to evaluate a reactive dog in our foster to adopt program. Mark met ONCE with the adopter/foster. The two remaining sessions were cancelled as the foster/ adopter needed to return the dog. Mark still charged the non profit rescue $450 for services/ sessions not rendered. Someone who advertises as being familiar with rescue work, he should know that non profit animal rescues are in constant need of donations to care for incoming abandoned animals. Our rescue have no problem paying for work that has been performed and we are always good for it, but shame on this business for charging for work that was never done. We will not be using him again nor recommending to anyone. read more

We used to mark to help train our American bully. The breed is a bit on the wild side I needed some behavioral assistance. Mark was always punctual and on time and clearly communicated the training program. We did roughly 4 to 5 training sessions and more successfully able to get Lola to sit stay go down and leave it. Mark is a patient, thorough trainer. We purchased a dog that was 13 months old that a breeder never homed. She was not named, would not eat out of a bowl, was not housebroken and barked all night long. She was also very skittish, dodging our efforts to pet her, needed coaching to go out, then ducked and bolted when she came in. Turns out she had a lot of signs of trauma. This was not an easy case. Mark is dependable, patient and does not punish in any way. Our dog responded super well to his training techniques, which he taught her and us. After each session, he emailed us a summary of what he taught us. Five sessions later, she is sleeping at night (our #1 goal), responds to her name, goes into her crate during our meals, goes to her bed, sits, lays down, stays, and hasn't had an accident in the house for 2 weeks. We took our 12-week old puppy, Panda, to Mark for the 5-week beginner puppy class. We followed Mark's guidance, and did the homework that was assigned, and by the end of the course, we had a well behaved puppy. If I could give Mark 6 stars I would. Mark has such great energy, super encouraging, heaps of patience and can 'speak dog'! You can tell from the minute he met my dog Daisy for the first time she loved him! Daisy, a 6 month old pup, came to us as a rescue, is my first dog, and is also deaf. I was desperate to find someone that could help me train a her. Finding someone that understands, specializes and has worked with deaf dogs was not easy. After the first training session at home it was remarkable; night and day, the difference in Daisy's behavior, and it just compounded to better and better results week after week. You do have to work with your dog in between training sessions to reinforce the behavior. Which is normal and expected. All the tips and tricks and teaching me how to think about how dogs understand, learn and interpret our cues was so helpful for the times in between Mark's visits. The 5 weeks of in-home training were prefect, because I had time to practice with Daisy, and when Mark would come the following week we could assess progress, do any corrective lessons and on to a new set of behavior training. Mark is also super accessible for the times in between visits or after the 5 weeks are finished if you have any questions, which is great because I never feel like I'm without help if I get stuck or need advice on what may/may not be working. I would, without a blink recommend Mark to anyone one that has a dog and need training or help with some behavioral issues. read more

Oh my gosh I can't say enough about AngelDogs trainer, Mark Tipton. I had recently rescued a dachshund puppy from being euthanized because she is deaf. My vet kept telling me that "she couldn't believe that I have stuck with this puppy because it is a difficult task to stick with a deaf dog because of the communication challenges" but she was thrilled that I did. I never saw a problem until sweet Olivia became in charge of me and my household. She became the alpha over me!! I took her to a training class of all hearing dogs (because I wasn't aware of Mark Tipton) and we both became very frustrated because I couldn't help her. I called a trainer I had used years ago for my other rescued hearing dogs and loved his technique and patience. Since he was not available, he referred me to Mark and couldn't commend Mark more with his expertise with deaf dogs. He told me that Mark's integrity was beyond reproach and that I would not regret taking her to him. Since I lived over 100 miles away, I brought Olivia to him for private training and I was thrilled with the change in Olivia and how quickly she caught on to the training. Mark and Lisa are gems in the rough. I have boarded and trained with them for two weeks and am astounded at the progress my rescued pit bull is making. He is a different dog. HAPPY, balanced and learning. They don't push the animal into any situation it can't handle, and let the animal tell them when it is ready for each next step. Their accommodations are wonderful with outdoor and indoor connected runs with an amazing view of the mountains when the dogs get to go in the 'paddock'. Mark of AngelDogs Training is really an amazing trainer. He was recommended to us by a rescue organization when our 2-year-old (at the time) Great Dane needed a huge amount of help to be able to live with us. This dog had a great heart but nobody ever thought him any house manners or socialization skills. Perhaps with a little chiquaua you can get away with no training ( not recommended) but when you get a dog that averages 120 pounds of muscles you need to find a way to communicate with him/her really really fast. Mark is great in many ways but in my opinion because he developed a system to train deaf dogs ( BTW out great dane does not have any hearing problem and he can hear just fine when he wants) he is able to find a way to teach almost any dog. Ok imagine now a dog with separation anxiety that never had any toy and that was left alone in a back yard for most of his life ( 30 months old when we got him) Now fast forward to when we decided to adopt him and trying to make him fit in our newly remodeled house with new hardwood floors, manicured drought tollerant yard ( read cactus here) and very "light sleep" neighboors. You get the picture. We had to find somebody that worked well and worked well fast. Not only Mark thought our big boy how to walk on a leash, not to chew his own bed and our shoes or anything else on the floor, not to swallow any kind of food left around the house by our son, he also thought us and our son how to interact with him so that everybody's life together would improve. Including the life of our little basenji mix about 100 pounds lighter than the big dog that now has a companion to play with when we are at work most of the day. Mark offers packages that are affordable especially considering that he was willing to drive from Santa Clarita to West Los Angeles many Saturdays to train our dog and teach our family helpful tips on how to reinforce the positive behavior. He even emailed us notes after every lesson so that we could follow his training method and apply it between lessons. It has been 18 months since the last lesson when we rescued our beloved dog and I can say that the training we did at the beginning is still paying off and we are really delighted that we did not give up on this gentle giant and we decided to ask for help so that he could become a wonderful source of joy and love in our family. I'm sorry I did not take the time to write this review before, but I'm confident that this would help many others in deciding to get help into training their dogs instead of giving up on them and giving them away. I used Mark to train my dog Whiskey who demonstrated some fear based aggression. Mark was professional and competent. But this marks the end of my positive review. Mark's wife manages a boarding facility on the property. I've loved the kennel because the whole place seemed to be committed to excellence, kindness and service for humans and dogs. About a month ago, I booked a stay for my two dogs for a week over Memorial Day weekend. It's about an hour and a half drive from my house to the kennel. After teaching my classes in the morning, I loaded my dogs, brought the rabies certificates and the food in my truck. When I got there, I was greeted by Ryan. Super nice employee, and he helped me transition Whiskey (who is a little ornery) and Lucy into their kennels. Emotions were running hot in my dogs and melancholy in me having to leave them, so I forgot to hand over the rabies certificate. Ryan also didn't ask for it. Totally an inadvertent mistake on both our parts. About an hour into my commute home I get a text from Lisa, Mark's wife, to say that I need to pick up the dogs because they don't have a rabies certificate on file. I immediately apologized and asked if I could text it, email it... She said just pick up my dogs. Then I asked if I could drive the certificates to her because I'm supposed to be leaving to Arizona the next day, and we have reservations that are non-refundable. She said to pick the dogs up. So I drove an hour and a half back to the kennel, grabbed my dogs even though I could have just handed over the rabies certificates, and I drove home. I spend from 2-7 pm in my car. It's now the night before I'm supposed to leave to Arizona, and I have no solution for my dogs. I won't be going to Arizona. All the local kennels are booked because it's a holiday weekend. I've never worked with someone so capricious and vindictive. If this review helps someone avoid this pain, then it was worth the effort to document and share it. read more

Mark's training is fantastic, I can't recommend him highly enough. He clearly loves dogs and is so patient and gentle with them. His techniques work and his prices are really good too. He uses positive reinforcement training, which is so important with dogs who are fearful and/or reactive. I adopted my little terrier from a shelter, and he had some aggression issues at first, but with the training, he's becoming calmer, more well-behaved and less fearful. Mark's ranch is a bit of a drive out of the city if you live in LA, but it's SO worth it. It's actually a pretty drive and fun to get out of the city - it's one of the highlights of my week! And Mark's wife Lisa runs the boarding program fantastically. She's very responsive, and the first time I called, we had a 20 minute conversation about how to handle my crazy new pup. I highly recommend Mark at AngelDogs Training. We adopted Harold, a deaf pit bull from the animal shelter. He had no previous training and we had no clue how to communicate with him. After using another trainer with no success, a friend recommended Mark and we saw results after the first training session. Five sessions later, we use sign language to give the commands come, sit, stay, leave it, down and go to bed. It is amazing how much progress Harold made in just 5 weeks. After every session, you receive your "homework" for the week, which is just 30 minutes a day of training.
