BEWARE Fellow Yelper's!…read more It saddens me to rewrite this review! Unfortunately in my previous post I recommend Jose at Purple Leaf, but now I recant my recommendation. He's a nice guy, but that's all I can say about him. Apparently he's having personal issues that have hindered his reliability and performance. In the beginning he was great, always showed up on his scheduled day, but for the last couple months he's been completely unreliable. He constantly changed his days and hours, and most times he didn't even contact me of his schedule change. We knew something was going on, and thought he just needed a break, so we decided to work with him and help him out. He agreed to service our landscaping yesterday 11-20-2020 (that would be the last service day we agreed upon), although he was paid in advance for the entire month of November. He never showed up! He requires payment in advance for the month he works! Shame on us for trusting him at his word and believing he was a man of integrity. It's unfortunate for us, but it doesn't have to be unfortunate for you. I wish I could remove my previous review, but until then, please BEWARE of Jose the owner and only employee of Purple Leaf Landscaping!!! Responding to Jose's reply: In Lieu of Jose's return response, I'd like to once again point out that he had promised to service our yard yesterday 11-20-2020 by 3:30 in the afternoon, but he was supposed to show at 9:30am. Since it's already nearly dark outside, at 4:17 my husband Marc texted him, but no reply from Jose. He did mention that he's probably going to loose his business, for which I suggested that he "Please finish out the month of November that has been paid in advance.", he then agreed to come service our yard once more, because of leaks he fixed he would forego the last week of service as payment for repairs. He was always late, or a no-show and I had to track him down as to when he'd be back. This is so disheartening that he would even attempt to cover up his Inconsistencies with his comeback comments. In any event, I too have proof of every single text that was exchanged between us. There is absolutely no excuse for neglecting our agreement as though it was someone else's fault. BEWARE PEOPLE!! Unless you enjoy paying in advance for services never rendered!!! Payment was given to you for 11/4-11/11-11/18-11/25, you only serviced two of those dates. Oh! And, please don't use the excuse of COVID hardships for your irresponsible actions of neglecting our agreement. Especially since you certainly had a paying customer in us, not to mention an evening job. Everyone has been affected by Covid-19, and I find your claim insulting and derelict in using that as an excuse!!!

He is friendly and easy to talk to and we discussed what we wanted and he offered some suggestions which we incorporated into our plan. He was quick to get us a written estimate and we said let's go! The first thing we did was take out our front lawn and put in turf. The crew and Arnold arrived on time and made quick work of taking out the grass and preparing the ground for the turf. We learned that it is quite the process but they had it done in 2-3 days and man does it look nice! We get compliments all the time and of course, are saving on our water bill. Win win. In addition he installed mow curbing which pretty reasonable and man does it change the look of the yard! Next we had him change the shape of a slope in the back yard and put in a block wall that has totally changed the look and usability of the yard. Currently working through the project: stump removal. Began project April 26, 2021. Very responsive to original request. Pleasure to meet the owner as he finished up the project. *Scheduling appointments and providing accurate arrival times or updates for service is not stellar. If you have to arrange work or family schedules to accommodate personal oversight or provide details... it could be a challenge. In the end, project was completed (5/4/21) and the owner and crew are very pleasant. Again, this particular project was interesting and required multiple visits. Communication was a bit slow and sometimes not accurate... having worked with contractors/sub-contractors within this Coachella valley, (our personal experience help shape this review.) If this project was super simple, I believe it would have gone just fine, but a couple of wrinkles really challenged the finishing date. Conclusion: If you're interested in schedules and very detailed communication... it's a work in progress, but they're very kind. I'd give them another opportunity on a project. I'd ask for more details and press for proactive communication (detailed project plan, contingencies for any side issues and ability to adjust with communications, times and dates.) Super nice owners and seem like high quality people. Definitely worth giving them a call or a project. I'll update this review with any future thoughts or projects.

We hired Desert Landscape Line to complete the landscape portion of our backyard renovation, after…read moreour pool was added. We paid them roughly $11,000 in total which was overall a fair price for the amount of work it required, but the quality of their work leaves much to be desired. I hired them based off of a strict timeline because of our pool installation, and when certain items could be completed (I.E. moving dirt needed to be done before Pebbletec was sprayed, we agreed on this a month before they started). On the day they were supposed to start, they told me they overcommitted, and would not be able to start for another 2 weeks. This happened again in the middle of the job, they took on another project and did not show up for a almost a week. While they did a great job in a few areas- they suffered in more. It is now about 6 months since they completed our backyard and the putting green they installed is having to be redone as it is bubbling. Isaac did not put down weed barrier fabric as I had asked him to (he firmly told me it was not needed and asked that I 'trust him'), our $4k worth of rockery is now receding into the ground below, and we're having to pay a new landscaper a fair amount of $ to fix this and add new fabric underneath. Our turf is patchy, it is coming up at the seams around the perimeter. One of the workers cut a giant hole in my hedge which still, after 6 months, has yet to completely fill in. My advice to Desert Landscape Line...Your intentions are good, you are trying to operate professionally (the drawings were appreciated, Emerith does strive to provide great service) but the finishing work is quite poor. If you can't complete a job as expected with quality work, speak up and be honest. I would've rather paid more for somebody who took the time to do it right.
