Staples, FedEx Office (Kinkos), and Office Max cannot compare to DES. All other stores said they would not scan large one-line diagram, and only one had a self-service scanner for an unreasonable price. After calling Paul at DES Reprographics, he ensured that me that he could easily take my scan, and do the scan for a great price, saving me time, and money! I have to say how shocked I was by how quickly Paul scanned, and uploaded my 36"x60" documents into a PDF file for me with their plotter scanner. The scan job was better than anything I could have asked for... perfect! During my visit, I had the pleasure of experiencing the excellent staff, and great customer service of DES Reprographics. Recently I brought some large scale architectural drawings for scanning. Steve did my scan, but I didn't like it because it was black and white - not greyscale. In some ways, perhaps black and white was superior, but in terms of reading all the fine prints, greyscale - to my eyes - is the way to go. I asked Steve if he could re-scan. He hesitated because to him the black and white were good. But he nevertheless took me back to the scanner and scanned a few difficult pages and adjusted the settings so that we are on the page about the settings. Then he rescanned all again the way I wanted - and without me charging me extra. I give a 5 stars because even though things didn't in my view go well at first, the people at DES cared enough to do a good job. One note though for the owner of the business: the people on the phone can be kinder sometimes. When I called back initially to complain about the scans, I got a pretty rude response. Turns out Steve was not in, and people were out of the loop what my issues were. I know people are busy, and I know I was ultimately taken care of, but I think there are definitely rooms to improve. Preface: I work in IT Consulting and have interfaced with many printer vendors all around the Bay Area. DES has their main office headquartered in the south bay, and they have a satellite office in SF. One of my clients in downtown SF recently purchased a Canon 825 MFP Wide Format Ploter and Scanner from DES. They were very professional and did an excellent job planning and implementing the new plotter. This particular client is an all Mac office. I was very impressed that DES set up the plotter in their office and tested printing to it from a Mac to ensure everything works before delivery. They were very thorough in sending measurements and information so we could figure out where the plotter would fit in the office. On the day of delivery, they did a great job setting everything up, and worked with me to get all the workstations connected to the new device. They sent lots of emails communicating each step through the whole process. I was very impressed with their work and would recommend them to others. read more

I turned to DES Reprograhics. Their service is unmatched. For a fraction of the cost others charge, they not only produced the quality printouts but also scanned all the drawings into pdf. I came here because I really wanted to get some prints made of illustrations that I like to do. Because most of my work is on 14"x 17" Bristol board, I had to find a place with a large format scanner. I came to DES because Plotter Pros, a printer I really wanted to work with, referred me there. I just needed an illustration scanned to a file for me to take to the printer. DES informed me that there was a $15 minimum, so I would have to get a print as well. When I came back to pick up my work, they informed me that they tried to put a protective sleeve over the illustration to keep the rollers on the scanner from smearing it, but nonetheless there was a long black streak going down the right side of the work, and the print that they gave me was good from the left side up until where the line occurred, then it was a different tint from that line on throughout the remainder of the illustration. I don't even know where to begin fixing this, but I do know that I will not be going to this place again. They ruined a pen & ink wash that I had meticulously put roughly 26 hours of work into, and then to top it off? I was charged a little over $16 for it. What could I do except walk away and then feel discouraged from working on anything again for a long time? Thanks a lot guys. Recently, someone told me about their great experiences with Vietnam Printing, which can do scanning AND printing of large formats, which, 7 months following my bad experience with DES, has enlightened me to give printers another chance. read more
