Lori is our go-to for cakes and I HIGHLY recommend her! My teen is all about music and last year…read morehad suggested I contact Lori for his cake. Holy moly, she knocked his ELO cake out of the park!! This year we went with a different music group and had to brainstorm the design. She's so easy to work with! We put our thinking caps on and co-created. I ordered Duran Duran buttons and she masterfully attached them. Her ability to execute ideas is phenomenal. My kid was THRILLED with the cake! Edit: Duran Duran reposted my child's post on their social media account (stories) and commented! Aside from the aesthetics, her cakes are deelish! They're baked perfectly and exactly what we ordered. She's such a kind, accountable and FUN person...I'm excited to see what we create next year! We're grateful for you, Lori!!

I contacted Lori after the last place that had been making me cakes went out of business, and…read moreseveral other bakers never answered or returned calls. Lori texted me back immediately and I sent her pictures of what I was looking for. I needed a cake for my 15th anniversary that was a replica of our original wedding cake. She was very confident in her ability to get something almost exactly as the picture and even offered some ideas for a topper (since the original was a three-tiered cake and what I was ordering was a simply 12" round version). I needed it within a week, so I didn't give her a lot of time, but she was unphased by the deadline. Her pricing was very reasonable, and we set a date and time for it to be picked up. The cake was ready perfectly on time, and was absolutely beautiful... actually even better, to be honest. The next day I surprised my wife with it and she also loved how it looked ... and more importantly, how it tasted. So delicious! (it was a spice cake). Worth every penny! Thank you, Lori!

Not sure what people are raving about with this place. Everything looks and tastes like it came in…read morefrozen from a wholesaler and then just defrosted. We got a chocolate croissant (only decent thing I got, but don't compare it to an artisanal made croissant where it's a dark golden brown with flaky crispy buttery layers). Their "croissants" are more like anemic, soft, moist bread. Also, got a cheese Danish. Starbucks sells a better cheese Danish than this place. The Danish was dry and hard and the center filling looked like it was pre-made frozen and just placed on top of the Danish. Finally, the worst of the worst, I got a personal size dutch apple crumble pie. Now THIS looked like it was made from scratch and I had hopes for this one. However, I took a piece of the crumble topping and ate it. It had an unusual funny taste. Almost like it was made with lavender. Didn't taste quite right. Then, when I got back to my hotel, I really dug into it. It wasn't just the crumble that was off, but the entire pie tasted of rancid spoiled butter. I had to spit it out, it was horrible. I can't believe they would serve that. I don't know how old that thing was, but they need better quality control. The only people I could see giving this place 5 stars on the food, are locals. Tahoe is behind when it comes to quality high end artisanal pastries. I have yet to find a decent coffee shop. Their sign boasts "Voted Best in Tahoe", but you'll see that almost every spot here has the same sign, from ice cream shops to bakeries to whatever else because there's literally nothing here. If you're from a big city, don't come here. Service was pleasant. No complaints.

Without getting into details, the team went above and beyond for me today and delivered genuinely world-class hospitality. The least I can do is leave a strong review for a great local small business. The quiche and the plátano latte were both excellent. The vibe is relaxed and refreshing, with a cozy, welcoming feel. They also have free Wi-Fi and plenty of outlets if you need to get work done. This is officially my go-to coffee shop in Reno. Thanks to everyone at Café con Papi!

A warm, bright spot in an otherwise bleak part of Reno…read more My wife and I needed a break from a multi-day volleyball tournament and were thrilled to find a Cuban coffee spot down the street. Immediately loved the vibe; colorful, mural filled space with many seating options, a lunch counter and an outdoor patio area. Super chill, friendly staff serving an eclectic clientele. I'd give it five stars if they were a bit more on point with the Cuban end of things. My wife and I are Anglos, but we're both Miami natives, so we're kind of purists when it comes to our Cuban stuff. This was definitely more "Latin inspired." We were looking forward to traditional pastelitos, but found they had more Mexican sweets and a guava and cheese brioche, which was delicious, but not authentic. Our Cuban sandwich had no pork and the wrong bread (and came with tortilla chips?), but the sandwich itself was quite tasty. And our cafe cubano was a nice coffee, but a bit thin and had only the amount of sugar a sane person would add, which is about a third of what would be in the real deal. So if you want authentic Cuban, this isn't really it. But if you're looking for good coffee and food served by cool people in a warm, funky environment, this place rocks.
