A few years ago I went to Derry Dental, haven moved to Derry in 2019. I had a little twinge in a left bottom tooth. After an examination Dr Erick said that he needed to extract the tooth. When he did the extraction his fist slipped and smashed up against my top front teeth, fracturing 9 teeth. He surgically, in his office, went in and tried to remove the pieces of broken teeth. At some point he told me that he could not do anymore for me, he dismissed me. Having gone to three other dentists trying to help me I pretty much gave up and went for false teeth. A full upper plate. I have struggled with this all these years and the costs to the new dentists was out rages Right now I have a full top set that looks good built it hurts like crazy in the top center of my mouth. I am presently waiting for my new dentist to return from his vacation to start all over again. All I asked Dr Erik was for him to return to me, one of the thousands of dollars I paid him. I went to this dentist for a wisdom teeth removal consultation (needed a referral to get them removed and was a first time patient). I was very open the whole time about how I didn't have insurance and would be paying out of pocket. I was asked if I wanted the cleaning as well but it costed NEAR $100 but it was not exactly $100...... I said no multiple times. The woman who saw me said "why don't you want it" I said "well $100 is a lot of money" she said "ok and 25¢ is a lot of money.... It's not right to neglect your teeth you need to take care of them that's not ok" .... I am an 18 year old girl paying out of pocket without parental help (I paid $4000 out of pocket for my teeth to be removed!!!) this woman was VERY rude and telling me I was neglecting my teeth when I was doing as much as I could afford. I was in literal tears as this was already a high stress situation for me seeing as I didn't know if I could even afford to have the procedure that I needed, and I was being shamed for not spending $100 on an optional service. At the end the women at the desk who had seen me crying and heard me talking about my lack of insurance told me I was all set and to have a good day. They forgot to charge me for the appointment... so they ran out to me when I was already seated in my car (I was holding my debit card at the check out desk ready to pay and they simply told me I was all set?????) I went back inside and paid the $250 something and they were all giggling amongst themselves. Very very rude I will NEVER return PS the way they are responding to some of their bad reviews and willing to discuss personal details of each customer is crazy!!! Nicely appointed office with several workstations for patients. All of the staff members are super nice, the office is extremely clean and they are usually right on time. They are very good at working with your insurance company to get authorizations before any major work is to take place leaving you with less out of pocket spending. They give out as samples a very nice toothbrush which retails for over $4.00 not those crappy toothbrushes which I always wondered if they came from Oriental Trading which most dentists give out with their name printed on it. I have been a Patient for several years and they don't try to make you pay for treatments that you don't need. They steered me away from Veneers which are over $10K telling me that it would be a waste since I grind my teeth while sleeping. read more

Went here a few years ago they said I had a cavity in my right side. I was not able to get it fixed due to travel for work and had another dentist look at the so called cavity. There is no cavity I have had three dentists now tell me there is no cavity. Do not trust these unprofessional cons! read more

I went to this comapny about a year ago to get exams and treatment and was told I had periodontal disease and would need two 2 hr appointments to care of. It took one 1 and 1/2 hour appt yet they still charged almost the full amount for 4hrs! They claimed it was coded that way. Now they're telling me I have to have 4 special cleanings a year for the rest of my life at $100 per cleaning even though I have insurance coverage for 8 cleanings a year!! Definitely something shady here and I will never go back!!! read more

I liked Derry Dental until I met Dr. Karen. The staff there is very attentive and helpful. No issues at all with the hygienists. Technically, Dr. Karen's dental skills seemed ok. I have experienced better dentists in the past. However, her chair side manner is the worst I've encountered. I returned for services a few times, wanting to take care of major dental problems I had. Every time I went I would hear about her personal work out program, her home she was remodeling, her kids, her vacations, her husband's short comings, ad nauseam. It was like you were not there in the chair... No concept of customer. I finally got to the point that I couldn't take her any longer. The bad news is that it will be years again before I go back to a dentist. So, recently, my daughter asked for a referral to a dentist. I said that she should give them a try. There is such a lack of decent dentists in the Derry area. Maybe I was just not in sync with Dr. Karen's style. I told her, it's a good business, but she should ask for the husband. Unfortunately, she did not. Fool us twice. She just returned from the worst visit of her life. She was shot with so much novocaine that the side of her face was sagging for hours. She had to leave at that point. She could not go out in public till the next day. The next day she had a great bruise on her face. Dr Karen should not deal with the public. Such a cold person. She could care less if someone is in pain. She doesn't explain what she is doing and tilts you on the chair to the point your falling off on your head. Get her away from dealing with the public. The 2nd time I came (which I was 5 mins early) they left me out in my hot vehicle waiting for 35 mins! The 3rd visit they left me out there for 25 minutes. read more

I have been going here for a couple years now and absolutely love it. Going to the dentist usually isn't anyone's favorite thing to do, but having a friendly office makes it much more enjoyable. I usually see Angela for my dental hygienist and then Dr. Eric after Angela is done. I was going to a chop shop before seeing them and my last dentist office really messed up my teeth and filings. Within a couple visits Dr. Eric was able to fix everything and I haven't had any issues since. Typically I like to ask for a female with small hands to make it as comfortable as possible, but Dr. Eric is super gentle. I had the woman dentist only one time and I will never go back to her. She is rough. I only will see Dr. Eric and I suggest you do the same! I asked them to put it in my notes and they weren't surprised. I wasn't the first person to make that request. read more

I am pretty disappointed. While I have been going here for years, as well as having my child go here, we will not be returning. My six-year-old with sensory issues, ADHD and anxiety had an appointment scheduled today. When we arrived for our scheduled appointment, I was told that I would not be allowed to come in with my six-year-old for his appointment. My 6 year old is not going into a medical appointment without his mother, sorry. I was told that I would need to reschedule if he would not go in alone. Just beware that this is a dental factory. They are expensive and have policies like you must have bite-wing Xrays every year. If you need a restorative procedure you need to put down a 50% deposit in order to just make the appointment. I think they have a 48 hour cancellation requirement as well. Not saying the dentists are bad dentists just that they their priority is making money - enough said. read more

The female Dr. Young is a butcher. She is also very rude and just a crabby, bitchy person in general. She forced my mouth open when I couldn't open it any more on my own because of where she was jabbing me with the needle. She performed a wisdom tooth extraction without me being entirely numb and then complained when I was crying out in pain. She filled me with so much Novocain that my neck was numb and I was having a hard time breathing. When it was complete, she and her assistant barely went over care and didn't care if I was feeling ok afterwards. They let me walk out and drive home...even though I could feel and knew I looked like I was ready to pass out. Before she started all the work that needed to be done, I wasn't sure if I could stay for the entire appointment because of a work call I had to be on. She then told me "One way or another this is going to happen". Afterwards, from a friendly neighbor in town, I heard a horror story about her drilling through a kids' tooth and then proclaiming "oh well, I guess the insurance company is going to pay me more for that one". read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Eric for a few years now and I couldn't be happier. He took a man who was too embarrassed to smile in public because my teeth were in such bad shape and turned me into a smiling maniac over the course of about a year. I'm like a whole new man. He and the staff are the best I've ever come across. There was a time when I was scared to go to the dentist but that's just not the case today. Dr. Eric really is that good. I was never a big fan of tooth pain and growing up a hockey player didn't help that situation at all. I have had my fair share of visits to different dentists over the years because of my love of the game. However, I developed a dentist phobia associated with the pain and my dental procedures that followed. I'm in my late 50s now and I allowed my teeth to be my last worry. If I wasn't in any pain, I steered myself as far away from any dental office as I could get. I even paid for dental insurance but never used it until about 2015 or so after my wife began seeing Dr. Erics' wife, Dr. Karen, who is also a dentist. I followed her recommendation to come here and get looked at by Dr. Eric. It was the best decision I've ever made when it comes to dentists. To be honest, when we met, I was an extreme case with a mouth full of issues, but he truly is the best with how he handled it all step-by-step. He is professional, personable, friendly, soft-spoken with an awesome chair-side manner, highly educated, ethical, and most of all, talented and he has gained my trust. He had a way with my fear of people in his profession and put me at ease to the point I look forward to coming here for my visits. I would highly recommend him and Derry Dental in general. I no longer fear to go to the dentist thanks to him. He runs a good, clean, fair, and honest business. His assistants, hygienists and office staff are also top-notch. The combination of him and the staff will keep me coming here for good no matter where I live in NH. The best part is now I can smile without embarrassment and really let my true personality come out. So, in a way, he changed my life and made it better. I have not been to the dentist in five years because of my experience with both the husband and wife. I came upon this page for reviews while mustering up the courage to find another dentist after so long. I went in for a routine root canal and instead he broke my tooth and it had to be extracted. He didn't apologize, instead offered me the original price of the root canal vs. an extraction which was more expensive. Hello? You just broke my tooth! I left there traumatized and in shock over my now missing tooth and haven't been to a dentist in over 5 years because of my experience here. I had to go back for a transparent mouth piece with a fake tooth in it which cost me another $300+. I had a question at the front desk about an additional fee and the wife overheard, came out of her office and was rude. I would not recommend this dentist. read more

Dr. Erik Young is the best! I've been a patient for a year since recently moving to the area. The staff is so nice and helpful and the office is clean and modern. They keep a really good schedule, and get you in and out as quickly as possible. Dr. Young recently recommended getting my wisdom teeth removed, and I was quite nervous about going through with it, but he was great! Because of female Dr Young I will need an implant. The (female dog) as I describe her to my new dentist over glued my crown. The original crown was done by anther shitty dentist at Aspen Dental was not properly glued. She aruged with me said it was fine. A volunteer dentist with the Reserves looked at it said it would fall out. She disagreed and 1 month later I was getting fitted for the one she put in my mouth. She over glues it and the fitting is wrong. I end up moving and my new dentist sees the over glue and bone damage in an xray. My new dentist removes the glue in 3 appointments hoping the damage isn't that bad. The tooth is loose from the root and this one claims I need an implant. Now I switched dentist again now and got this male dentist he says there is a lot of damage but he believes it could be years before I need to get an implant. I told him Dr Young made me wait 1 month in extreme pain before she would treat an inflamed tooth I then begged her to pull. I ingested a full bottle the biggest ones they sell of Ibuprofen because she said it wasn't so bad. Also soaked the tooth in the strongest whiskey the liquor store recommend. I couldn't sleep the whole month the pain was so bad. Now my teeth have shifted due to the missing tooth. Dr Young is a monster if I was in NH I would sue. read more

Dr. Young does not even deserve one star. This office billed my insurance company for thousands of dollars worth of work that they did not do. Personally, I was charged as well. Dr. Young charges the customer for the next appointment and any work she "may" do at that time. If you do not pay, you do not get an appointment. She cancelled 3 appointments in a row,yet billed me. Delta dental has been looking into her practice and has made a demand for repayment. The office manager refuses to give me back my portion. I have written letters to the NH state Attorney and to the Dental Board. If you still think it's okay to go to her for dental work, think about tbis. She told me I needed fillings on my next visit. I have a wonderful new dentist now and guess what? I have no cavities! How many times has she duped me? I'll never know. But you sure as heck should know that Dr young is a disgrace to her profession. I could go on about German inappropriate conversation with her hygienist as she is working on my teeth, but I'll leave that one to your imagination. read more

Not happy with this office at all. Dr. Erick made a partial bridge for me and it never fit right. i went back for 3 corrections and it still did not fit. I was told that if I needed another fitting, I would have to pay. This bridge was so uncomfortable because it would scrape my gums. I would take it off the minute I got home. One day I wrapped the bridge in a kleenex and placed it on my desk and the next day I inadvertently threw it in the trash when I was housecleaning. Since I only used the bridge when I had to go out in public, it was a few days before I realized it was gone. II called Derry Dental to ask them why they did not return my temporary bridge to me after they gave me the ill fitting permanent bridge and if there would be any discount for a new bridge since I only had it for 2 months before I lost it. They said "oh well, full price for another bridge" End of discussion. I will never go back there. read more

My teeth were in seriously bad shape due to a chronic illness. I went to Derry Dental expecting to be told I'd need full dentures. Instead, Dr. Erik Young has done an astonishing job transforming my teeth so that they not only look better, but are much healthier. I was so embarrassed at first, but Dr. Young and the super nice staff there made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Young broke my treatments down into several affordable visits, and I just couldn't be happier with the results. He really is an exceptional dentist. After one visit I even cried when I saw how great my teeth looked! read more

A decent practice, perhaps - if you don't have young children. I came in with my kids recently and was told that my middle son (who has special needs) could not "make noise like that" inside the office. There was nothing to keep children entertained (no toys, tables, books, etc.) in the waiting room, and it was difficult keeping my youngest from running into adjacent rooms with other patients in them (an inevitability since it's difficult to keep a hand on one child while trying to discuss your other child's X-rays at the same time). The impression that I got was that this office was NOT equipped to deal with small children (most especially those with special needs), and so our family was forced to look much further for a pediatric dentistry that actually specializes in treating kids. I wish we'd been made aware of this when we scheduled the appointment in the first place - that way we wouldn't have wasted the trip! read more
