This is the place to go if you want to get away from the we're running a business environment it is exceptionally clean there is no rush or wait time because it's the perfectly planned well balanced setting and it makes you feel comfortable. So, Ms. Berkal tries to be a good dentist I believe. They go to conferences to keep up on the latest dental technology and have digital xrays. BUT, Ms. Berkal likes to crown. I am 28, and had a crown and root canal. This would be fine, except the 2 dentists I went to before and after her couldn't imagine I needed any crowns in my mouth. Even my second opinion on that crowned tooth said I don't need one. But I fell for it as she seemed so thorough and caring. Other people I know who worked there even had 4+ crowns in their mouth. I dated a dentist and he said many dentists crown teeth to make extra money. Never get one without a second opinion, and keep in mind that this may be their desire. Not saying that that was necessarily hers, just she pushing you into getting one and it will cost you. Between that and the root canal it was over $2,000. Not cheap, and she seems quick to prescribe them for many people. And her personality is seriously lacking. It is hard to even have a conversation with her, and she always gives you these weird looks and statements as she ackwardly tries to be friendly. So, save yourself the massive amounts of money, as well as avoiding the ackward forced conversation with the dentist. AND JUST SAY NO TO THE CROWN, OR GET A SECOND OPINION. *All other dentists do say her crown was very high quality. So maybe get a second opinion, and if you still need it, then grab it from her (along with a small personal loan to cover the charges) REMEMBER KIDS, your dental insurance probably maxes out at $1,000 a year, so the rest is all you. read more

Christine, the hygienist, is very nice and keeps you aware of what she's going to do next with each step, so there's nothing to fear there. When I've had to get anymore more serious than a cleaning done, Dr. Berkal has been understanding when I'm a baby about needles and got everything done quickly and painlessly. I moved to Derry in 2008 and that's when I found Dr. Berkal's office. Honestly, I'm glad I didn't see the previous review until after I booked my first appointment. Dr. Berkal will suggest what she thinks is the best way to keep your teeth healthy but in no way, shape, or form does she pressure you into doing anything you don't want to do or can't afford to do. The rest of the staff is great too from the dental hygenist to the receptionist. My son loves to go there, even if it's for my appointment or my husband's. He's 3 so people with young kids that are reading this know how hard it can be to find a place where your kids feel comfortable. They also offer this special tool to clean your teeth. So, instead of using those scraping tools that make your gums bleed (which they can use if you prefer) this tool cleans your teeth without any pain or bleeding. All in all I would recommend this dental practice to anybody who is looking. Including and especially friends and family that live in the area or are looking to move to the area. read more

Probably the best dentist I've ever had! I originally came in for some significant pain I was experiencing with my teeth and was recommended here by a coworker who happen to live in Derry. The receptionist was very sympathetic and understood the urgency of the situation, and was able to fit me in for an emergency examination. Coming in, Dr. Berkal and her assistant were able to diagnose the problem (which happen to be a root canal) and was able to work with another office to get me taken care of. No more pain and I floss quite regularly now! Future examinations and appointments have been fantastic. Every individual that works in that office really reaches out to every patient and tries to connect with him or her on a personal level. Combined with what seems to be more modern technology, the appointments are very pleasant and you're able to understand exactly what is to be done. For me, they printed out a series of recommendations and asked me what path I would like to pursue. I've already recommended them to my wife and to coworkers and friends. Fantastic group of people, I hope they continue to provide the level of service to others that I've experienced. read more

Unlike most dentists, Dr. Berkal actually cares about what you want for your mouth. How do I know? She asked me. I was so surprised I could hardly come up with an answer. My initial visit was incredibly in depth. She and her assistant sat down with me as we reviewed my medical history and discussed what I liked, and didn't like about my teeth. Afterwards we went to an examination room where Dr. Berkal ran through a series of dental checks: looking for cavities, checking my bite, and even testing the strength of my jaw muscles to look for potential issues. Much like the interview, her care was well above what I'd previously experienced. Her assistant needs to be mentioned as well. Far from being just another person in the room, the assistant did an excellent job of explaining what was happening in laymen terms. She was even able to take xrays comfortable, which is usually painful due to the shape of my mouth! I've read the other reviews and they definitely don't jive with my experience. read more

I could not disagree with Michelle F more! Dr. Berkal goes ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure your teeth are well-cared for...and does not recommend crowns like candy, like she was saying! In fact, she recommended I see another dentist for a crown so I hardly think she is forcing them on people unnecessarily...there is no money in referrals OUT of your office! And to say her personality is lacking is just plain wrong...She is the nicest person and I felt VERY comfortable. The technology there is amazing..and I personally feel offended by the review above so much that I had to write this review. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this practice and as a small business owner in the medical field as well, I do not give recommendations easily. That is how strongly I support her and her amazing staff. I encourage you to give her a try. I also see her a great deal at the dog park and she and her husband are both model citizens...with helping, friendly personalities....PS I used to see a practice in Methuen that used to hit me up for $200-1500 EVERY visit...crowns, multiples fillings, root canals, veneers, whitening...so I hardly think recommending a crown here or there is so terrible. She is first and foremost a dentist with moral obligations to the patient to recommend what is best, not what serves her pocketbook best...and I did NOT get the vibe that she was a scumbag out for your every last dollar!
