Unfortunately, my experiences with other dermatologists have often left me feeling rushed through appointments, encouraged to purchase expensive products I didn't really need, or even advised to consider unnecessary cosmetic procedures when what I actually needed was straightforward, quality dermatological care. Too often, it can feel like the focus is on selling products or procedures rather than simply addressing the patient's actual needs. Dr. McDonough is completely different. He doesn't push unnecessary treatments or cosmetic procedures. Instead, he gets right to the point, listens to your concerns, and recommends exactly what you need. If an affordable over-the-counter option will work just as well, he'll tell you that, too. I truly appreciate that kind of honesty. His demeanor is friendly, caring, and professional, while also being incredibly informative. He has a genuine, sincere concern for his patients and makes you feel completely at ease. He never makes you feel rushed, but at the same time, he respects your time. I've also been impressed by how closely his office adheres to appointment times. I absolutely hate sitting around in a doctor's office forever, so having a physician who respects your time as much as he respects your health means a lot to me. Update 1/18/17: after 8 uses (Friday night Saturday morning/night Sunday morning/late afternoon Monday morning/night [noticed spreading that evening] Tuesday morning - over a five day period) of Cicalfate the condition worsened. I waited only like 2min and then got called to the back to get my mole removed. First, they cleaned the area, numbed me (it was tolerable, the needles just felt like little pinches) & then they cut the mole out n stitched me up :)) My skin is healing up really nice. However, i accidentally hit the scar really hard and it bruised up again, but iced it and put cicalfate (skin repair cream) on it every night and it's fine again lol that was my fault oopsies i'm clumsy. But yea, i'm happy with the results, they did accept my insurance, but we still had to pay, but i didn't mind bc i wanted my mole gone lol.

On my daughters first visit to him ever, he didn't examine my 8 year old daughter who has severe eczema AT ALL, he barely looked at her & she's been dealing with eczema since a baby. So imagine all the years of no relief. I'm thinking yes, finally we have a Doctor that's going to help my baby. No. He didn't thoroughly examine her body, he just went right in to prescribing medication, first red flag but i was desperate to get my child some help. So after the first couple of days of using the meds (3 days after examine to be exact) the medication he prescribe broke my child out BAD!! To the point she ended up getting a skin infection. From her neck to her ankles was swollen, red, she had MULTIPLE small light circle patches throughout her body, cracks in the creases of her legs & arms etc., plus nonstop itching & she's even missed school due to this & school just started. So I stopped using the medication & started trying home remedies myself for some relief which has been working & clearing up everything I just mentioned. I scheduled an emergency appt that wasn't even 2 weeks apart from her first appt to see why this has transpired & to get some relief for my daughter. Her appt was at 9:40 didn't get called back until 10:10. As I'm explaining to Dr. Grice what's been going on & letting him know that Eucerin & the other meds he prescribed (which she's taken before from her PCP & another Dermatologist) didn't work. He immediately started being rude, hostile "yelling" at me in front of my daughter saying "I shouldn't have stopped taking the medication, he knows what he's doing/ talking about, he's been doing this for a while" etc. First off, why would I continue to use something that's completely broke my child out? Secondly, this is thee worse her eczema has been since she's been in this world!!! Again, he didn't take a full body examine. He just went right in & prescribed the exact same medications that her PCP has been giving her for the eczema since she was 1 years old that hasn't worked plus some antibiotics. I thought the reason for a referral to him is because the medication her PCP has been giving her isn't working nor clearing anything up. As I'm checking out, his nurse that was in the room at the time of the visit was disgusting my daughter's visit with another staff member that wasn't even in the room with us, openly in front of myself, my daughter & the front desk. Once they realized i was still there they quickly shut the door which was another exam room & cont'd talking. If I overheard them speaking info about my daughters visit, then I know others did as well. Very unprofessional!!! About 5 days later which was Tuesday 25th I see on the patient portal what the diagnosis was. Looked it up & my child skin didnt dare look like what he stated she had for an infection. Again, he didn't take a full body examine, he only advised me she had Atopic dermatitis which I already knew. So then again Dr. Grice prescribe some more medication on a Friday morning. Soni havent received any notificatioms that my pharmacy received the scripts. So I sent a message Friday afternoon through the portal no response, I've called no return call & he doesn't even have an afters hours number to call just incase something like this would happen. Here it is Wednesday morning the 26th and my pharmacy is just now getting the scripts. I will NEVER go back & I will NEVER recommend this office to anyone!!!!!! I will be filling a complaint against him &/or his practice. Do not go to him if you have a child & you really want someone who cares, who takes their career seriously, someone that's going to take the time out to help their patients & LISTEN rather that just being rude, dismissive & money hungry he is NOT the doctor.

From the beginning Dr. Berlin and his entire staff were professional, attentive and very personable (qualities you won't find much these days-Southlake office). My problem being BCC a rapid response was necessary. From first call to in the chair was three days. (also unusual these days). Dr. Berlin gave full explanations, looked at my biopsy site and immediately went to work. It took two slices and about two hours to remove the entire tumor. Overall an excellent experience for a distressing problem. If it were possible I would give him 10 stars. BTW, as a person of age, I've noticed that many physicians and their staff treat us as if "well you only have a few years left so you don't get the premium package". There was none of that nonsense from Dr. Berlin or his staff. He was First Class all the way.
