I love my esthetician. Cynthia is wonderful . I have been the benefactor of her wonderful services for over 6 years now. My skin has never looked better. I love the PA, Shannon. What I do NOT LOVE is how horrible the response is from the administrative staff . I understand that they are busy. I leave my messages on KLARA's secure messaging system. They do not respond. I leave another message. They do NOT respond. I am then charged a "no show ' fee that took me valuable time on the phone and other messages to finally get the $150 'no show fee reversed. And, they acted (administrative staff) as if they were doing me a favor. What has happened to this place? It is impossible to get anyone on the phone. No one returns calls or messages. So, I wanted to get the Derma V laser done on a red scar I have. They wouldn't give any sort of price range out over the phone, I would to have a consult. I couldn't send pictures in or a do a virtual, it had to be a consult. This a dermatology office but apparently a laser tech is the one who does the treatment. And get this, it's a $100 consult fee, with a laser tech, AND the fee does not go towards the treatment if you chose to move forward, and you can't have the treatment the same day. I pay less to see a dermatologist via insurance than I would have to pay to a laser tech for a consult so they can tell me if I'm a candidate and how much it will cost. I have unfortunately had a mediocre-to-bad experience with Dermatology + Aesthetics Bucktown. I had an appointment in October to renew my prior authorization for an ongoing prescription but they waited until December to complete my paperwork, forcing me to make back-and-forth phone calls with Derm+Aesthetics and the prescribing pharmacy and miss my duxpixent dose. I would expect a clinic to be better organized when it comes to prescriptions. read more

I want to this office for close to two decades, using two different doctors. I was 15 minutes late for an appt and they would not take me. I have chosen to move onto another derm. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. I was flabbergasted that when I was 15 minutes late they demanded I reschedule when I have had to sit in their waiting room countless times for much more than 15 minutes. Please, avoid at any cost! I went to this clinic two times for a cancer screening and mole removal from my face, neck, and body. When I called to schedule the appointment I asked for an appt. with a dermatologist. They scheduled me with a physician assistant instead of a dermatologist. Dr. Shannon Driscoll did two treatments (4 weeks apart from each treatment) burning some moles and seborrheic keratoses with electric pen and freezing other with liquid nitrogen. I had some really huge and thick seborrheic keratoses and she treated them so aggressively with the liquid nitrogen that she left me with horrible scars all over my body. Yet many of those seborrheic keratoses still remained and didn't even fall out after two treatments but now on top of still having them I also got scars as a bonus. The scars are twice bigger than what the seborrheic keratoses were. I really don't know how I ended up paying $398.29 for this treatment and not only I did not get the desired results but I went home scarred... probably for life. Needles to say is that Dr. Shannon Driscoll didn't even treat all moles and seborrheic keratoses that I wanted to treat because I still have a lot of tiny little moles all over my face that for some reason she didn't bother to treat and they were my main reason to go for that treatment in the first place. I also have tons of seborrheic keratoses on my breast and specifically my nipples that cause me a lot of discomfort because they are extremely itchy at times. Yet Dr. Shannon Driscoll didn't even bother to treat those. I don't know how competent and experienced is Shannon Driscoll in the area of mole removal but I regret the day I went to this clinic because not only I did not get the majority of the moles removed but as I mentioned I went back home with nasty scars that might remain for life. I also want to add that they handed me the informed consent form when I was already laying half naked on the bed and Dr. Driscoll was already working on the moles. I see that someone else posted in their comment that the same thing happened to them. Obviously that's a common practice in this clinic which only raises the question of how ethical their practices are. To my own detriment I ignored the reviews about scheduling/billing errors. I came in for my first visit, they "accidentally cancelled" my appointment. I had to leave and return another day. Second appointment to have a procedure done, they accidentally booked me with someone that doesn't do the service I needed. Asked me to again leave and reschedule. 2/2 on scheduling mistakes. There's so much that goes into coming to the office (coordinate work schedule, PTO, parking) - find yourself somewhere else that has scheduling 101 down. read more

I just received a text message from a debt collector stating I owe Derm + Aesthetics money and they've tried to get a hold of me multiple times... I haven't been there in YEARS. And when I went there, I always checked out at the reception desk. It's not like I got Botox and then ran away? I just called their billing department and they the woman was extremely rude, stating they sent me a piece of mail with my bill (from a visit 3 YEARS ago) and since I didn't paid, they sent the debt collector. I told her I moved and she clearly had my phone number, and she legit yelled "we don't make personal calls!" Anyway I paid my balance but the whole thing was sketchy and extremely annoying. Their services weren't even good to begin with. If you do go just be super careful and get a printed receipt of what you paid for. read more

Very professional staff and doctors. Easy to make an appointment and they continue follow up when you don't schedule your annual! I appreciate this since I tend to procrastinate. Check out process went smoothly and you can leave a credit card on file for them to charge any balance not covered by insurance. They send you a statement and charge the card 30 days afterward if you haven't already paid through the portal. Parking along Elston was easy and they have a parking lot as well. read more

Here's the note I just sent to their practice. Hi - I had a mole scrape at my appointment on Friday and I didn't realize that it was a fairly large chunk of leg/skin taken off. I didn't receive any kind of written instruction on how to care for it and am now googling to find out what to do. Does that seem normal to you?? What am I supposed to do? It says online that it takes 2-3 weeks to heal (???). That was not told to me and had I known it was a big deal (literally had me sign a waiver while laying nude face down) I would have said no and gotten a second opinion. Please explain your process for these things and where I'm supposed to get info for care. The site around it is literally enflamed and red. P.A. Erin was brilliant! She was very knowledgeable and excellent in providing the facial skin care that I needed and I give her 5 stars. In addition, she was patient in listening to all my questions and needs, and was most accommodating. However, I have to deduct a star for the negative experiences due to the hispanic checkout guy employed there. He pretended like he was busy, and forced me to stand around for minutes for him to finish whatever he was doing both times. And he was extremely rude and offensive every time for no reason and needs to be fired. read more

I've been treated really well here. I really like my doctor and all my interactions with everyone have been very nice. The area has parking and the location is easy to get to. The wait is typically short and the work is executed with perfection. I'm not always dealt the best card by nature and I feel well taken care of here all around. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer so I guess I'm saying, go check it out. read more

I have been a patient of the practice for years, and always had some bad experience at their cosmetic store. Recently Dr. K. Horn recommended few products to try, and sent me to their store with a paper, asking for few samples of each product. Sale person at the store absolutely refused to give me "a couple samples of each", saying "we don't have enough ". Cabinets we're full of samples! I needed to plead to get one (very small!) sample. In addition she said "we have have some for the other customers, not just for you". Very humiliating experience! So, if a manufacturer's sends samples, they are for potential costumers. By distributing samples to sellers manufacturers are trying to promote their product, and increase sales. If samples are used by sales people themselves, and their family and friends the product has not been promoted. I was humiliated and looked down at by the same sales person today. As a result I purchased one of the products recommended by Dr. K.Horn from a Department Store, and Ive got a discount , and a bunch of samples! Neiman Marcus is having a promotion right now- $50 off $200 , including beauty (cosmetics)! And you will get samples as well! read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience here seeing Shannon Driscoll. If you have anything more complex than getting stuck in the face with Botox seriously go anywhere else!! Shannon failed to get me the prescription she said I needed in a timely matter while I suffered and had to call my pharmacy multiple times only to be told that they hadn't heard anything from this office yet. By the time she finally ordered my prescription to be filled my condition had gotten much worse. Shannon had assured me that she would be available "all week" in case my condition got worse, but when I tried contacting her again, I didn't hear from her the following day either. When she finally got back to me it was all excuses and "our system wasn't working" type of responses (super unprofessional and how can you claim to be available if you don't have the technical abilities to be available?!). The lack of communication, competent care and professionalism = I will NEVER EVER return to this office for as long as Shannon Driscoll works there. There are so many other amazing derm offices and providers in Chicago that you will be in good hands elsewhere!! read more

While the facility is clean and the staff is competent and nice, the prices are completely outrageous. My son had an acne follow up appointment with the dermatologist Shannon and we were charged the net insurance rate of $125 for the brief visit which lasted no longer than 10 minutes and more appalling the derm popped literally one pimple and charged $165 (which is the net insurance rate no less) for it. Total over $300. When I called to inquire about it, I was informed the billing department is short staffed and would get a call back in two weeks. Absolutely avoid this place at all costs. Dr. Horn helped me love my skin! I didn't think it was possible... My acne was always a source of insecurity for me as long as I can remember. When I was younger I saw some other doctors about this issue and tried several remedies. My mom took me, so I don't remember if they were specifically dermatologists or not, but I do remember that nothing worked. As soon as I moved to Chicago, I searched for some dermatologists in Chicago. I didn't think to look on Yelp at first, but when I did, I found Dr. Mayer Horn. After reading the reviews on all of the doctors in the office, I still chose to make an appointment with Dr. Horn. Oddly enough, during the time that I was waiting for my appointment, I developed a weird type of rash. My primary care doctors misdiagnosed me twice and then finally suggested I see a dermatologist. I had plans to go to Vegas in the next several days, so I was in a panic. I called the office in a frenzy and begged them to see me. The rash really was itchy and kinda scary looking. And being that it was the summer, it was difficult for me to hide it. They took me in that next day. I forgot the nice doctor who took me in that time, but he took a sample and was able to identify my rash immediately and prescribe the proper medication. I was relieved to find out that it was not contagious and I could get on a plane. Of course, I still had to wait to see Dr. Horn about my acne issues. When it was finally time for my appointment he gave me a regimen after asking about my current routine and lifestyle and prescribed some medications. The progress was slow at first (as it usually is), but it's been a few years and my skin looks better than ever. I get compliments all the time about how it's so glowy and clear. Of course, I tell all of them about Wicker Park D&A. I still make a visit annually in order to get refills and ask about any new concerns. Dr. Horn is very pleasant and kind. But most importantly, he is knowledgeable and truly takes the time to answer all of your questions. I didn't have insurance for some time, and the office gave me coupons so that I could continue to stay on my regimen. I know some other reviewers said that this office is uncooperative, but if you speak to someone who is unkind on the phone, call back and ask for the office manager. Also the nurses and doctors are more than happy to listen. I often get Marjorie (sp?) as my nurse and she is the best. I would feel comfortable telling her if anyone is rude, but I haven't had that problem yet. You will have to wait for an appointment. It is 1-2 months out on average but it's worth the wait. If you have waited this long to seek help about your skin, what's another month or two? read more

They made a billing error on a routine checkup, I called 6 different times to try to fix it and nothing happened. I love Dr. Meyer Horn! He is the best! I was running 20 minutes late because I went to the wrong address and they were super understanding. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. Even though I was super late they still took me and Dr. Horn sat and listened intently and asked great questions and provided great explanations. You could tell he truly cared. He was super nice! He told me what I could do for my skin problem, the best regimen and provided me a crazy amount of samples to hold me over until my order from the pharmacy would come in. Parking situation isn't ideal but they do have valet for $5 which is convenient. They also have a store right there too where you can buy the things they suggest which was very convenient and if you valet parked you get $5 off your purchase. All in all a great experience! If you are someone who has acne scars, Erin is a magician! I cannot emphasize enough how amazing she is. I have visited many different dermatologists and aestheticians in the city of Chicago, and Erin is, by far, the BEST. She's a laser tech expert when it comes to scarring and skin damage. She is a wealth of knowledge combined with a no nonsense attitude where she will give you the real deal as to what would really actually help your skin and how you can get the biggest bang for your buck. She won't upsell you or try to get you to pay for a bunch of junk you don't need. Most importantly - she gets results. Acne scars are notoriously hard to treat. She has access to several different lasers, including the "dot" CO2 laser which is phenomenal at permanently getting rid of scarring. When I first met her we had an honest conversation about what my goals were and also what my budget was, and she was incredibly helpful and understanding to make sure my dollars stretched as far as possible to meet my individual goals. I can't recommend Erin and her team at Dermatology + Aesthetics highly enough. (Pro tip - apparently the secret is out about Erin so if you want to get an appointment with her I think there's a several month waiting list, so call early) read more

Since my last review, I've started seeing Dr. Todd Johnson as well. I was skeptical of seeing another Dr. after trusting Dr. Horn for so long, but I am glad I made the switch. Dr. Johnson is just as attentive and caring, but also much easier to get an appointment with! I was able to schedule an appointment within 2 days. Dr. Johnson understood my time constraints being a new working mom of 2 kids, after my approval he took an aggressive approach which I highly appreciated. After 24 hours, my skin already looks and feels so much better! Before leaving the exam room he asked multiple times if there was anything else I was concerned about or that he could help with while I was in the office. Fine! I have a secret to tell. I know it's going to come as a shock but...I don't have naturally perfect skin. I _know_!! I have had some skin issues that arose from a variety of things - allergies, surgeries, genetics, etc. As a favored subject of the paparazzi, I couldn't be seen leaving the house with less than perfect, glowing skin. So, I did what anyone in my position does: I saw an expert. My expert's name is Meyer Horn and he's awesome. Not only is he incredibly patient, talented and smart, he's intuitive, a great listener and knows what to do to arrive at the best possible conclusion to bad situations. Where other dermatologists told me that nothing could be done about certain situations, Dr. Horn found a solution. Where 'experts' in 'ethnic skin care' told me that I would have to live with certain things, Dr. Horn fixed it all and made me ready for several close ups. I only regret that I did not see Dr. Horn years ago, as he could have saved me much annoyance and frustration. But, that was then. This is now. And, I trust my skin to the best dermatologist (and staff - shout out to nurse M!) in Chicago. If you need answers about your skin problems that range from the inane and imagined to the pronounced and all-too-real, there's no one else you should see but Dr. Horn. But, if you get in the way of me making and getting my appointment with him...we'll have to have a 'chat.' I have a public to entertain. read more

Was recommended this place by my friend from work. I should've checked these reviews before coming here. When in for an appointment to get help control some of my acne. I was given a prescription. Ok cool. So i chose the mail option for them. I called the pharmacy, turns out one of the prescribed medications were discontinued. She told me i had to call the dermatologist to let them know and that to give me something else. So i did that, that said they would give me a call back when they have the new prescriptions sent over. Took them two days. I was at work so i couldn't pick up. 1 hourish later i called they couldn't pick up. I called twice. Lines were busy. Okay must be a busy place i get it. 4 days pass by without a single call, so i called them, lines were busy as usual, left a message. Please call me back. Throughout the whole day nothing. Called the next day, and finally someone picked up. Told me they would mark my prescription a high priority, and even said they "MIGHT call me back today or tomorrow, not sure" those exact words. Fast forward two days later and I'm still here waiting for this supposed "call back" It's been over a week and i still have not been given a prescription for my condition. Not even a call back like like they said they would. I will NOT recommend this place to anybody. They don't even give a fuck about my prescription. If they did, i would've been had it sent to the Pharmacy the very next day after my appointment. read more

Wow! What a home run! I haven't had such an easy experience with a doctor of any kind in years. I arrived for my appointment and, within 5 minutes, was shown to an exam room where everything was explained. Too bad, since the waiting room was clean, new and featured internet terminals so you can surf the web (and write Yelp reviews). The examination was routine but Dr. Meyer Horn has a delightful bedside manner, explains everything and takes the time to make sure that his advice is not only accurate but that it also makes sense to you. If only all doctors could be so effective and efficient, going to the doctors office would be something to look forward to. Not only will I return to Dr. Horn for all dermatology needs, but even if I moved cities, I'd fly back to Chicago, if I have to. This one's a keeper. read more

I agree. This place isn't great. Came here for a consultation and wart removal. Since I've been here two other times and my experience has been: 1) this place does not consider your time and 2) it's expensive. Regarding the time, the onboarding experience was okay but it's more so the wait that I've had each time (20+ minutes). That's unprofessional. Regarding the cost, I know healthcare in the US is expensive and all but 250+ for each wart freeze? C'mon. Find a PA or something to do that and not the Derm. This review is for the dermatology side of the practice. It had been a few years since I had seen a dermatologist, so when I wanted to get a mole checked out I immediately remembered the name of the last doctor I had seen--Dr. Todd Johnson. He used to work at Northwestern, but now works at Dermatology + Aesthetics. I made an appointment for a skin cancer screening, and they were able to fit me in within a couple weeks. The location of this practice is a bit annoying as there is limited street parking so your only option is a lot that charges $5 for valet. That's really the only negative thing I have to say about this practice. I highly recommend Dr. Johnson, and I'm glad I was able to locate where he had moved to after Northwestern. He is extremely thorough, patient, and easy to discuss medical issues with. I ended up having a couple moles removed by him that resulted in stitches and further procedures. I typically hate going to the doctor and have a very low pain threshold. I can honestly say that Dr. Johnson makes these appointments less dreadful. I am also a self-pay patient, and I have found their pricing to be very reasonable. I haven't had any billing issues, and all staff has been super responsive to my questions. read more

This place was a like a boutique cult derm. The parking lot charges you. So, as soon as you park you are bombarded with a young man telling you you just did valet. Like, ok? Then you get an exam and instead of offering you the services you request they set it up so you have to come back for a follow up. They don't use a traditional pharmacy'. They "encourage" you to go to their in house store and prescribe you products through a private pharmacy that starts calling and messaging you. It was very creepy. read more
