Had my wife's birthday here and the place was lively and fun. The food was good and the overall service was fine. The only issue was that they seemed to run out of ingredients for drinks and food. There also wasn't enough bartenders and servers. But overall still a good place to watch sports games on the many televisions. Hopefully the management gets better. read more

I was with a group of friends for last nights event of "The Micro Maidens". The show was great but the service was absolutley awful. I stood at the bar for about 15 minutes then decided it wasnt worth the wait. When a server showed up to my table we ordered drinks and it took another 15-20 minutes to get them. And that was the last time we saw her. They should have accomodated for the big group and had servers and more bartenders. I will never go back it was awful. The restrooms were disgusting as well. I went to visit family up in Hemet, CA and they recommend this place. I was not really pleased. I ordered the honey walnut shrimp and it was too battery. It was more batter than shrimp. When I got a bite of the shrimp it was dry. I really wanted to like it. This fried rice that came with it was okay. We got the sampler and it was good! You can never go wrong with a sampler! So there's that. The pizza & wings were delicious tho! We also had a watermelon redbull margarita. Its was okay. I feel like it could have been stronger. HORRIBLE SERVICE!! came more than once and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Waited 40 minutes to get a bucket of beer the server came twice and I reminded her about it. When my husband finally got up to call her on it she said they ran out of the beer we wanted. Great place for breakfast. We ordered a few entrees and it did not disappoint. We had omelettes, eggs benedict, biscuits and gravy, breakfast burrito etc... They were scrumptious and servings are generous. I love the tater tots. I think my favorite is the eggs benedict. I highly recommend it. Tabitha was our waitress. She was amazing. I was really excited to try here since it's so close to home and offers a variety of food, but after last night's dinner I won't be returning. Sadly, the best thing I had was the ranch dipping sauce. The "Casey Burger" looked extremely unappetizing, just slopped together with the fried egg already broken and pooling around the fries. I asked for the burger medium rare and it was cooked to death. Absolutely no pink. The fries were in desperate need of salt. When the server asked how everything was and I told her the burger was overcooked she said the cook was watching the game and not paying attention. The reuban was super soggy on the bottom. The Mexican candy margarita was awful and it took so long to get a beer we forgot we even ordered it. At the end of the meal the server said she talked to the chef about the burger and he was "sorry." Their hours are not updated. I tried calling a few times and I never got ahold of anyone. So I drove down there and sure enough they were closed. Editing- owner reached out but I'm sure how to respond. Yelp states they are open until 9pm on Thursdays but when I went down there they had a sign on their door that says they are closed at 5pm. 5pm is also mentioned when you google them. That's why I called (around 3:45-4pm) to get clarification. However, with no answer of the phone. Hidden little gem indeed! First off this is inside some type of race track area, but we didn't have to pay for parking since we were going in to eat. I looked at the menu beforehand so that I knew what I was getting in advance because we were going to be on a time crunch. I was going to be going the sampler route for sure. This place is awesome!!! So many TVs it's crazy. Super clean and spacious. The menu is very impressive and diverse. Asian, Latin, American, and Greek dishes will not disappoint. I feel like they are all new though. Be patient because the service is the only negative. They were very nice they were just not very attentive. I feel like they are new and it will only get better. Our bill was $93.00 for 2 people and it would have been more if we weren't so ignored. We were sitting for long periods of time with empty drinks. Not a deal breaker considering it is so new. Great outside seating available to watch the Horse race. I enjoyed the outside seating and the music that played so I did have some fun dancing alone in the back patio. This review is for the night of October 2nd during the Perris Fall Festival. I arrived to the "Derby Room" 8:50pm during the night the Perris Fairgrounds hosted the fair. The servers were servicing tables and it was difficult to get anyone's attention to place an order for food. While I waited I looked over the menu and ordered a drink from the bar. The crowd in the restaurant were lively and I could tell there was plenty of regulars that enjoyed dining with large families so this dinner rush was not particular to the Fair event tonight. However I will say the restaurant got more foot traffic during the event. At 9:10pm my table got the attention of a server who informed us due to the dinner rush and incapacity to take orders while servicing the dinner rush. At that time we were told the kitchen was not currently taking orders. My colleague got the attention of a server and requested that we'd like to place an order with her as the dinner rush had died down about 5 minutes prior. The server excuse himself and let us know that they would get the attention of a manager to verify that they're still serving dinner. A bartender approached the table and informed us that they were no longer serving dinner. We were informed at 9:53pm that even though the hours of operation of the Derby Room close at 11pm they would not be serving food. I had waited with my colleague for an hour to have the option to place an order. I was very upset that I wasn't able to place an order and that it was not communicated sooner. read more

Stumbled upon Derby Room on Ol' Faithful Yelp, and again my fellow Yelpers have led me down a tasty road. This restaurant is located near Lake Perris and the Sports Pavillion, a much needed establishment for the area. Parking was plentiful and the lot was clean. We made our way to the host desk on a Sunday evening and were greeted and seated by the General Manager who was very friendly and helpful. They have bar seating, booths and tables with plenty of televisions showing all kinds of sports but of course horse racing is the main attraction. This place is great for groups and families. I looked over the bar menu and was happy to see good quality wines to choose from, the bar is fully stocked as well. Appetizers were very tempting but luckily I did not indulge because the main course was beyond plentiful. We ordered the Seafood Delight and the Ribeye Pho. I was uncertain of Pho at a Sports bar restaurant but I was pleasantly surprised, the noodles were perfect, the broth was tasty and with the addition of the hoisin sauce even better. The Seafood Delight was cooked just right and full of veggies, fish, shrimp and scallops. There are so many items to choose from on the menu that I know we will be back to try something new. The prices are very good, Service is excellent and the atmosphere is laid back. If your in the area make your way to the Derby Room it won't disappoint. read more

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would! I am EXTREMELY disappointed by this place and I am saddened because I wanted to love it. I visited here this past Sunday and wanted to try something different because we were celebrating my son's 16th birthday. WORST decision ever! When we got there and the place was packed and very lively because I guess the game was going on. We told the hostess that we wanted a table for 3 and she looked around and shrugged her shoulders like sorry we don't have a seat. She went to look around and came back and told us that she found 3 seats at the bar if we were ok sitting there to eat. Which we agreed. We were at the bar for a while with no service, which was kind of understandable given how packed it was. But the moment the server came to us she had a HORRIBLE attitude! First, she told us that someone else was already sitting there. And we were confused because we were just seated by the hostess - so we told her and she basically disregarded what we said and was like "well like I said, someone was sitting there they just went outside for a smoke and we are supposed to hold seats" I'm like are you serious right now? These people got up and left - now you have new customers and you don't want to serve them? And side note I didn't see anyone out front as it was raining. She gave us menus reluctantly and then came back looking for another problem - I'm assuming because we didn't leave. She asked my son- "how old are you honey?" He says 16 and she says "oh well you can't sit here" at this point I'm starting to get furious -because if that was the case we should have been told this from the BEGINNING, from the hostess, when we were seated. She should have asked - is everyone 21? And then if so, seat us at the bar. Don't have us seat, take off our coats, get comfortable, get menus and THEN say one of us can't eat here? This started a huge argument - where the owner ends up coming over. He starts talking about his license this, his license that - and I'm thinking to myself how many times my son sat in the bar area of Chili's and Friday's with NO PROBLEM at all! On top of that this man was so close to my husband that spit landed on his face. By that time we were ready to turn the whole place upside down -so we just left cause the police would've had to come the way we were feeling. This place is EXTREMELY unprofessional and seem to have no real system or way of handling things. I will NEVER, I repeat NEVER frequent this establishment again and I overall feel we were not treated right all because this badly aged, breast out woman (probably looking for attention) wanted someone else in those seats instead of us. The saddest thing about this whole experience is that I have over 250k followers on my Instagram and I was trying to document my experience at this restaurant to promote them for FREE - which could have brought them even more business if they knew how to handle customers right. The owner never even said "Let me see what I could do, because we don't want you to have to leave - it's your son's birthday" NOTHING. He just let us leave. Never had an experience so bad! read more

One of our favorite places in Perris. The place is nice. Tons of TVs. Sometimes, it's quiet and kinda empty. Other times, like fight nights, the place comes alive! The energy is palpable, and The Derby Room is the place to be. The food is good. We've tried a variety of foods: pho, burgers, sandwiches, pasta, fish and chips, salads, apps, breakfast... all good. Burgers are my go-to. The breakfast special is unbeatable. Generous portions on all orders. The full service bar is huge. Nice pours. Good mixed drinks. Lots on tap. Getting there: Located right before you take the road to head into Lake Perris Campgrounds. There is tons of parking out front. Experience: This was a perfect location for us to eat as we were headed to Desert Daze, which is located right on Lake Perris. It's really cool inside as they have a legit derby room and you can bet on races there. Is oddly very big inside with a full bar in the middle of the room. The food wasn't bad; normal bar food. I ordered BBQ wings and their margarita flight. The flight seemed like it had more flavors than alcohol; seemed pretty sugary. This place looks like it pops off on a weekend.
