We've been to this restaurant space several times, under several different owners. And I like…read moreoptions at this new iteration.
I had the Burrito Jarocho Suizo (pictured below), which was filled with steak, pastor, beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and fresh cheese, topped with home-made ranchero sauce. It was huge and it was a flavor explosion in every bite. I got the dinner along with it and enjoyed the rice and refried beans.
My wife got a Veggie Burrito and a side of the Chile Rellenos Veracruz. She loved the contents of the veggie burrito (grilled peppers, onions, mushrooms with beans, rice, lettuce, cheese, sour cream and guacamole). The mushrooms were a nice little surprise.
So the food was great but overall the experience could be better.
We came in about 30 min to closing time, so that was probably part of the issue. We were seated but weren't told that menus or waters or silverware was on the way. We just sat and waited for 5 minutes and when I got up to look for menus myself, I was told in an annoyed manner, "I'll get your menus, just give me a minute." That was awkward.
Our server didn't seem interested in the fact that it was our first time there and when asked what she recommended, she gave a generic answer like, "Customers like our tacos." Not a big deal, but there wasn't a sense of pride in the menu.
Lastly, we weren't told that additional chips and salsa cost extra, so we had a surprise addition to the bill, not that it was outrageous. We would've liked to at least been given the heads up. The house salsa was amazing.
So overall, the experience was okay. There were some people drinking at the bar and using the game machines in the front and being a little loud, but other than that, the place was quiet enough for a good conversation at the end of the night.
Will we be back? Hard to say. There's so many other Mexican options in the area with equally good food and a better overall experience. Maybe it was an off night, so we might try it again soon.
