What a great outfit to work with! We were having trouble with our 8 year old French Door refrigerator. It was running too cold and freezing the food in the refrigerator section. So! I called them on a Tuesday afternoon. Niki answered and said that their tech Francisco could be out the following afternoon to diagnose the problem. He arrived slightly early which is good! He saw that it was a problem with the damper sticking open plus while was there, he adjusted our left hand door that wasn't closing correctly too. Which was great. So, Niki called on Friday to say our parts were in and Francisco could be out on Monday to replace the damper. So! This happened a while back but I am still very angry about it. I bought a used fridge from them. It was making a weird noise in the freezer. They sent a repair guy who said there was a 'sleeve' missing that covered the fan and kept it quiet. They ordered and installed the part a week later. It still kept making noise. They sent out an older guy, who adjusted the temp way down so the freezer would make noise and he could hear. He made a snotty comment about "Well most people have a TV or a radio on and wouldn't hear it". I work at home, and have a stressfull job that I have to concentrate doing, and have a quiet environment to work in. So, no radio or TV is on to drown out noise that sounds like my freezer has a bad part. He made the snoise less noticeable, but forgot to turn the temp back to normal settings. IT FROZE EVERYTHING in my fridge. It froze and ruined mayonnaise, eggs, a whole bunch of salad greens, and more. This was just before Thanksgiving so my turkey also did not thaw out in time. My review is slightly biased because I had a pretty easy repair and it didn't cost me a ton, but the reason I'm writing a review is because I appreciated their responsiveness and service. My washer quit agitating and spinning and I called them to have it diagnosed for repair. They sent a repair technician out to my house within a few days and he arrived during the window they said he would. The tech replaced a belt while he was there and ordered me the exact part I needed replaced. He came back out a few days later and completed the work. My machine was fixed before the time another shop id called could have even come out to diagnose. read more

Our washing machine dial would not move. So, we called Dependable and Matthew came out and took the instrument panel off of the machine and found the issue: the housing tabs had snapped loose of the dialing mechanism. He was so honest...instead of just pushing the idea of purchasing a new model, he offered three options: to re-cement the dial mechanism to the housing; to replace the instrument panel (just over $200.00) or buy a new/new-used model and replace the old one. Of course, being on a budget, we chose the first option. Matthew got the dial to turn, almost as soon as he had re-cemented the housing. We are letting the apoxy stand, overnight; then, if that fails and the dial snaps loose, again, we will probably just call and get a new-used model delivered (the bleach dispensing channel in our machine has been corroding badly for a long while, anyway...). But in the meantime, we are going to give the current repair a go! The whole visit was quick, and the repair was under $100.00! There is a very good reason why Dependable was a favorite appliance/repair store with our late folks: they try their hardest to do a great job, and on time! read more

Watch out!! If you want to throw your money away, call Dependable... $75.00 Service Fee $100.00 Labor for 15 minutes $100 Part Ordered part, waited 1 week, came to fix... oops, wrong part. Ordered another part, waited 1 week, came to fix which took 15 minutes. You can depend on them to take your money... Manager states they are expensive because their serviceman is so good and experienced. If so, still trying to figure out the wrong part ordered and the extra week of being without the oven??? I'm also told by the Manager that customers just do not understand how expensive it is to operate the company; not sure it is the customer's issue. I am the customer left feeling gouged and punked! For the first time since we got our new refrigerator delivered last January, it properly works, but that's no thanks to Dependable. The tech they sent out was either lazy or incompetent. A tech from Roy's Appliance is the one that knew what was wrong, immediately, and he fixed it on the spot. All of the separate issues it had were caused by a single, simple problem that had resulted from improper installation by the guys who delivered and installed it. The Dependable tech told me the problems were simply design flaws and there was nothing he could do, just suggested some ways to cope with what I then thought was the crappiest $2,200 refrigerator ever made. (He told me he sees the same complaints on that model all the time and tells people that's just the way it is, so if you have a Frigidaire Gallery model and have been told that, it's not true!) He also said we must not be closing the door all the way, letting the cold air escape. All these months I believed my kid and I must be leaving it cracked open by mistake, but nope. Even with it fully closed, we found out it had been been over 40 degrees inside all the time as the cold air was escaping 24 hours a day due to that one simple problem Roy's had no problem spotting and fixing. It's lucky no one got food poisoning, though on two occassions my daughter did drink spoiled milk and eat cereal with spoiled milk because she didn't know why it was weird, having never had it before. She told me she didn't like milk anymore. We'd forgotten what actual cold beverages are like! And I'll finally be able to stop throwing out food that spoils far, far before the use-by dates. Over 8 months of throwing out milk two days after buying it. Chicken within a day of buying it. No ice or cold water from the dispenser on the door. I've wasted hundreds of dollars on food, for which we blamed ourselves and the refrigerator designer. I filed a warranty claim for that, at least. Hopefully I get reimbursed. And who knows how much electricity has been wasted! Do not use Dependable! read more

Sadly, I rarely complain, but I do not recommend this service. I had a technician come out on August 22, 2018 to trouble shoot my oven. He claimed tha there was nothing wrong with the oven even after I told him that it was not baking the center of cakes/muffins. He told me to vacuum the vents and he did nothing but charge me $80.00. Since then, I have been unable to use the oven function. I lost complete confidence in Dependable Appliance and called out Garrison, who told me that it is not a vent issue but a heating element or control board issue. He will be back with parts to fix my oven at a minimal cost. Do not use Dependable Appliance. read more

I had a dead GE OTR microwave and they came out to repair it. The tech took the time to open everything up and troubleshoot it only to find that it still worked and maybe just had a temporary short on the day we had a problem with it. He cleaned and double checked the connections and better yet, didn't even have the heart to charge me for it because he felt like he didn't do anything worth charging me for. I would have happily paid for his time, but he insisted. That's integrity. read more

In need of a washing machine I went to dependable Appliance. Picked out one, paid for it, and it was delivered 3:00 the same day.....BUT!!! when they plugged it in at my house it wouldn't work....okay....tech came out and said it was the timer. I had to go "BACK TO THE STORE" and either pick a different machine, or get my money back. I picked out a different one, but it couldn't be delivered until the next week! I'm upset that they didn't at least offer me some sort of discount, or something! 2 trips in the same day! I know it was good they figured it out, but I had been without a washer for over a week. My heater element went out on my dryer and I went online to find a replacement and Dependable Appliance was on the list of places to find this part. I wanted to support local businesses so I went there and the guy behind the counter was friendly and had the part. The cost was $87 which I thought was high but paid for it. I installed it and the dryer worked. I took the dogs for a walk and kept thinking that the price was a little high. Once I got home I went on the internet and the highest price I could find for that element was $40 and the lowest was Amazon for $19 with shipping was free and I get it in 5 days. I don't mind paying more for local companies but the mark up is ridiculous. I should have checked first but I didn't think I would screwed and I was. Do not go here. read more

Frustrating to say the least. My wife called Dependable Appliance over an issue with our dryer. They said they would send someone out to take a look. Technician, who was at our house for a total of 5 minutes, diagnosed it as a blown heating element and quoted my wife over $350 to have it replaced. After contacting a couple of other appliance repair services, we quickly learned $350 was a ridiculous quote. We reached back out to Dependable over concerns on pricing and they said the technician "never ordered the part". We cancelled the repair and I ended up repairing the dryer myself with a $25 part and 45 minutes of my time. Two months later we receive a bill from Dependable for a $90 service call, threatening to "send us to collections" if not paid in two business days. I reached out to their A/R staff, who is apparently also one of the owners, explaining that the dryer was only worth $300, and had we known the service charge would be $90 we would have never had them come out. She immediately became confrontational, calling my wife a liar and accusing me of trying to skip out on a bill. I have no problem paying for service. I do have a significant problem with not communicating the cost of a "service call", quoting a a ludicrous price to have it repaired, then threatening me with collections for not paying something I never agreed to pay in the first place. Oh by the way. It wasn't the heating element. Dryer had blown electronics. What a disgrace of a business they run. read more

My washer wasn't going through its spin cycle. I called an was able to get an appointment for the very next day which was great! The technician came out and after about 10 mins was able to determine that the filter was clogged and just needed cleaned. I didn't even know my washer had a filter! He cleaned it and buttoned everything back up and was gone in only 30-45 mins. He only charged me the $50.00 "diagnosis" charge. Great company! I will definitely be calling back if I have any other appliance issues! read more

So I called Dependable Appliance and requested someone to come and work on my french door kitchen aid refrigerator, which I accidentally left the freezer open getting ice one night. The next morning the ice from the ice maker was melted to we cleaned and dried it and it was fine for a few days. Then, both the refrigerator and the freezer stopped cooling. We went on line and found out how to reset the refrigerator. So it required unplugging the unit and re-plugging it back in. Both my husband and I plugged and out on several occasions and had no incidents. We still could not get it to cool. We called Dependable Appliance and they sent out a repair person. The repair person moved the refrigerator to check the back, and then when he plugged it back in, the cord erupted in smoke. Thinking that it could have been the outlet plug, I gave him an extension cord that has a light on the female end. It smoked also. Then he told us the refrigerator needed a new compressor at 6-700 dollars and there is an obstruction in the Freon line that is causing this problem. So finding the obstruction would cost much more. They charge 95 dollars just to look at the refrigerator. My husband was furious. He came home and pulled it apart, checked the compressor and all the connects and plugged it in and it did not smoke. And low and behold,the refrigerator is working normal now. Sure glad that they charged us 95 dollars plus tax for this awesome service call. I cant wait to call them again if any other appliance has issues. read more

Had them come to "fix my fridge" they told me what was wrong said the part was no longer available. I did some research and found the part. So I called them back and said I found it and they said they were going to charge more money to install the part. So I asked for a refund and they said no. If you want your appliances repaired at a low price this is not the company that does it. read more

We have a teen age dishwasher, that did an incredible job of washing for years. Then, it quit washing. I called Dependable and they sent out a repairman, (nameless to protect the incompetent). He ran it through a cycle, said the water was going in and out and the arm was turning, so there was nothing wrong with it. End of that story. I went back to the store and told the manager his service man's call was unsatisfactory. So, he sent out Mr. Wizard, Randall. He put the machine through its paces, found out the arm was plugged, put a new arm on it, cleaned it all out, and it is as good as new. Go, Randall. And all for the price of one service call. You can't ask for any better service than that. read more

Called them and told them my refrigerator water supply line for the ice maker needed replaced. I told them the make and SN#, They came out with wrong hose and left doing nothing at all. Called me back and said they could order the hose but it would take 2 days and cost $50.00. I told them I needed water that day and i would find a hose myself. I told them if Icould not find a hose that day i would call them back. I found a hose and the cost was only $24.00 and i repaired it myself in 10 minutes. They send me a bill for $76.02 AND THEY DID NOTHING. I called the manager and she told me the charge was for an estimate. They never told me about any charge for an estimate when i called the first time. Misleading at the least. I would not recommend Dependable Appliance for anything. I am going to fight this in court and let the judge decide if this is fair practice or not. If they would have brought out the right part in the first place there would be no problem I will not pay for work that was not done at no fault of mine.
