Ryan at Corriell replied to my call within 15 minutes. Based on my description of the fridge symptoms suggested that, unfortunately, it was likely the compressor. It's a 6.5 year pull Kenmore Elite (LG) He said fixing was probably not worth it and recommended - for best reliability- a new Whirlpool fridge, with no door dispensers of any sort. (He also noted he was booked out a week if we really wanted to try and fix it) When I discovered my first choice (for price) did not have a water filter I called and left a VM asking if that would be a problem with Richland's hard water. He called back and said it would probably not be a huge problem but suggested installing an inline filter available at Home Depot. I really appreciate Ryan's help and honesty, especially when he wasn't making any money off of us! If we need any appliance repairs in the future, he's the first place I'll call. My Kenmore Elite refrigerator (probably 5 years old) decided to fail. The freezer won't reliably keep stuff frozen. Ryan said he couldn't get to me right away, but spent time on the phone advising me what to do to self-check the compressor. Yep, it's toast. He said LG (which makes Kenmore) has a terrible track record with compressors and that replacing it would not only be expensive but might fail again in a few years.
