I have, among other possessions, a much beloved car. It's a really rare and powerful machine. It's an eight-year-old Honda Accord.
As eight-year-old automobiles are apt to become, my beloved Accord over time devolved into a dinged, dented, creased, and blotted mess. (Charlotte's drivers are jerks, by the way. All of you.) Wounded deeply by the appearance of its condition, I set about to find a Paintless Dent Removal professional who could help restore my steel-steed to it's once smooth-bodied glory.
PDR guys are tough to weed through. There about a hundred broken-english posts on Craigslist for this service and a casual google search yields a handful of "charlotte dent repair" results that vary from "seems legit" to "is this a cafishing scam?" So I never pulled the trigger on actually contacting anyone about it for fear of accidentally hiring that "dude with a coat-hanger" who does more harm than good.
By virtue of a forum member on a car site I frequent, Dave at Dents Away LLC was brought to my attention. He came highly recommended so I checked out his site and shot him a quick email detailing the ghastly L-shaped crease behind my driver's door, the quarter-sized ding on my rear passenger side, the pock marks on my passenger door, etc.
Dave responded promptly and offered me the convenience of meeting me one weekday at my place of work to look at the car and offer a quote.
Given what I'd seen and heard from others who have had PDR work done, I was expecting to have to shell out upwards of $200 to get my poor car fixed up. Dave took a few moments to look my car over, poke about for access holes in the door jamb, and then came back with a "piece of cake" response that instilled much confidence. Then he voiced an estimate that was less than half of what I feared he'd say. $80 for everything!
He then said, "I can do it now, if you'd like." To which I responded something about as happy-goofy as, "Well gee-golly sure!" Dave then said, "Gimme 20-25 minutes." I think he had it all done in 15.
Dave very knowledgeably and courteously talked me through what he'd do and how he'd do it, as well as what he could NOT do in certain areas, which I very much appreciated. He even patched up and plugged a couple rusty access holes inside my doors for me.
As someone who awkwardly really loves his cars and tends to get attached to them to what some might regard an unhealthy degree, I can't put into words how happy I am to now know of a quality PDR guy in the area who can turn the furious anger I feel each time a careless motorist bashes me with their door in a parking lot into the joyous relief of seeing dents magically erased from my body panels... and from my memory.
Dave's good people. If your car is beat up and that bums you out, give him a call. He'll make it all better. read more
