We have unfortunately had to come here a few times, but we are happy they are there when we need them. We ended up there on Xmas night since our dog ate a fruitcake (raisins are highly toxic and that was the first ingredient). They took her in quickly and induced vomiting. They gave us all the options. Our dog did great and is going well. We rescue and have seniors so we have been in also when we know it's time for euthanasia. They are very professional and caring. I don't trust many places, but they have treated us and our pets well. read more

Doc had no clue. Admitted she had no clue, yet didn't do imaging or labs. She cleaned out his ear for $700 gave us pain and inflammation meds, said there was no infection and sent us on our way. Our regular vet did imaging, drained the abscess, very nasty infection, gave fluids and a rx for very high power antibiotics . Our dog was bitten. His regular vet had to shave the side of his face to drain the infection. Behind his ear, under his chin, had huge swelling. He wasn't able to eat or drink Your vet literally threw up her arms, said "I don't know" , " it doesn't make sense". Why she chose not to dig deeper is beyond me. If she cannot handle the pressures of ER, maybe she should consider something less chaotic read more

I took my beautiful dog Hera to Denton County Animal ER on Thanksgiving Day 2024 because she was having the same symptoms as one of my dogs many years ago. She was diagnosed with immune mediated, hemolytic anemia, the same exact diagnosis as one of my previous babies. Their Management doctors and staff were beyond exemplary. They were kind, courteous and respectful of my emotions. During my visits with Hera she was always happy to see me, but very, very lethargic because of the lack of red blood cells. They decided to do a splenectomy to cut down on the destruction of the red blood cells. Her blood level started to improve, but unfortunately, not in time. While going into work, I received a call from the ER stating that she had passed away comfortably in her sleep. The doctors and staff did their best to keep me informed and to always discuss the best course of action stating that she was a fighter and at this point was not suffering with her disease. They assured me if there was a time that they thought she was suffering, they would call me and we would go over the possibility of euthanasia. I let them know that I am not Bill Gates and I'm not made of money and they worked out a plan so that I can give her the care needed in the stressful times. I am horrible with names, but I can't say enough about Dr. Polly and Dr. Savage For their help in Hera's situation. I will highly recommend this ER to anyone in a heartbeat and ask if anyone who lives in the area and loves animals. Please donate to them. They can use puppy pads, blankets, towels, and washcloths. Let's start with, I've taken 5 dogs here over the last 10 years and they have always kept them alive! I've paid A LOT of money to this place, and will continue to use them. So I'm grateful. But let me tell you how they have changed. For the longest time they were just open nights, weekends and holidays. Meaning you show up with an emergency, they triage stabilize and release your pet to your normal vet the next morning, or when they are stable to go for monitoring. As of my most recent trip for a snake bite, they now operate 24 hours. I feel like they were underprepared or staffed for how busy they are now. Staff is capable and good at taking care of pets, but they are busy busy. In this specific case they waited to give anti-venin to our small dog for 24 hours, and kept her 36 hours when historically I've taken home my snake bite victims after anti-venom in 12-15 hours. So the delay made me question them more, made my pup suffer longer, and I think is costing me more. Yes, prices have risen, my pup has improved and is going home, but I will stay more on top of their speedy care should I return in the future. read more

They did really great with a very hard situation. Our family dog passed away in the night and we needed to bring her body for cremation and they were there to help from start to finish. I called and was able to bring her right in which was a huge bonus as her owner was extremely distraught and I did not want to leave her body in his room the entire night and then have my kiddo witness her being carried out. It was about 1am when we left to drop her off. The person that met us is who I spoke to on the phone and she was very kind and compassionate and helped walk us both through the process with minimal work or paperwork. Cost for cremation was very reasonable and they were extremely patient with her remains being picked up. As you may imagine the family had suffered a great loss of a dog that we had loved for 11 years and her owner took weeks to go back and pick her up due to depression. It was hard on him most of all so for these kind folks to wait and hold her remains for weeks was a real blessing as it allowed him to cope with that process more. I am very thankful they allowed him that extra time. The remains were put in a beautiful box with her paw print and while we still miss her, and he is still quite hurt over her loss, this was one of the least painful parts of the whole process and I will forever be grateful to them. I cannot speak to other services they offer as ours was an emergent situation in the middle of the night and required a lot of hand holding and understanding. read more

My dog was able to be seen quickly, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the cost wasn't as much as other animal hospitals we've gone to in the past. I felt like my dog was well taken care of! The staff called to update us and it seemed like they really cared. We called another animal hospital in Denton and they actually put us on hold for several minutes, then told us to Denton County Animal ER because they were understaffed. This was very frustrating considering I was very concerned about my dog's health, as he had just been stung by a bee and was having a reaction as we were on the phone. Our pup had infected her spay incision. She is a cone Houdini and when she wasn't taking off her cone she was coming up with creative ways to scratch her incision. Luckily we caught it quickly and rushed her to the ER. I have never myself been to an ER and wasn't sure what to expect but I did appreciate the communication- Daniel called us two hours in letting us know they hadn't forgotten us and they would take care of our baby. During this extremely stressful time it was nice to receive a call like that because I felt like our pup was in good hands. The wait was pretty long (this happened MLK day so a lot of regular offices were closed causing the delay) but I'm glad Daniel let us know once we called and Dr. Hightower apologized for the wait. read more

They have the most compassionate and educated animal care I've experienced in Dallas so far! Their priority was clearly for my dog's wellness and while the price for the exams, scans and treatments came out to be high (but understandable for an ER), they were super patient with my financial situation even when I was feeling bad about it because they know its tough out here! They not only took care of my baby promptly and effectively but they were more than flexible and understanding with their multiple payment options. 20/10 highly recommend! Very responsive at first! had an accident with my dog jumping through a glass window and glass went through her foot called emergency clinic to help us on phone told us walk ins are welcome and explained to us what to do to stabilize her. When we got there they immediately took her back to examine her foot, they had us fill out information forms then look at payment plans. They will PUSH you signing up for a credit card but if you get declined you haft to pay in full another way, it was 1,500 for the surgery they weren't sure if they'd use it all but wanted us to pay incase. They refunded us $200 after the surgery. They didn't tell us much anything or updates about the dog front desk lady was very pushy and rude when we asked if they knew anything yet. thankfully she made it through surgery good and was going to be ok after the amount of blood that was lost. But I don't recommend if you're looking for a place that won't cost you everything. (YOU HAFT TO PAY BEFORE HAND OR THEY WONT HELP). Don't respond this place if you can go anywhere else. read more

My cat has had some problems with her teeth. We have an appointment with a pet dentist, but that's several weeks away. My cat totally stopped eating, so we had to take her in. Overall it was an efficient process and all of the employees are super polite. My cat was seen by a vet about 90 minutes after we arrived - your wait time will vary with how busy they are and how critical your pet is. They are being cautious with COVID, so you wait in the car while they take your pet back. They have a check-in process you can do on your phone. The exam itself is $100, which is less than most other pet ERs charge. The vet will then call you once she's examining your animal. She recommended some treatment options for me and prepared an estimate. While I was on the phone with the vet, she excused herself as they had a dying pet arrive at that exact moment. I have no problem with this - it's the way human ERs work as well. Prioritize the sickest patients. My cat wasn't going to die from a toothache. They gave my cat a steroid, an antibiotic, and a painkiller. All-in, it was only $250 and took about 2.5 hours. Super grateful to the vets and staff at this clinic. read more

They will interview you and tell you they cross train ( understandable ) but forget to mention they will not allow you to use any skills you have for months at a time. Im an experienced tech, so I had the idea I would be able to use what I know (blood draws, catheters, TPR, administering IV, SQ, IM medications/fluids, etc.) They hired me on for emergency technician then after quitting my job and getting hired on there they started me at the very bottom and told me it would be months before I could do what I was actually hired on for. The environment is weird and the people are very standoffish. Pay is good but that is not what I cared about, I wanted to gain more experience but when I stated how I felt about the training process they let me go. No verbal warning no communication just let me go. Management is rude and unprofessional. So again just be aware when you are hired on it will take you months to do what you know how to do. I couldn't even fill prescriptions or anything! read more

Very communicative, friendly, responsive. I called in advance to ask how the process would work- they explained everything and even took information in advance to make it go faster. Addressed concerns and helped me to feel calm. Overall took a really long time (over 2 hours for an eye infection), but they did let me know up front that it would with how busy they were. They assured me my fur baby would be comfortable in the holding area. They stayed communicative through the entire time with updates. Very sweet staff and would highly recommend. One thing to note- the driveway is a bit hard to see and if you miss it, you're looking at adding about 8 min in having to go up and turn around and back on the service road as the neighborhood roads are closed for construction. The billboard sign is NOT where the driveway is- turn BEFORE you think you should. It's in what looks like an abandoned strip mall. Easy to miss. read more

I cannot express how impressed I am with this ER. I had to bring my dachshund who was having a major seizure at 1am 2/20. The staff was over the top amazing. The vet on duty was so compassionate. She cried with us as we had to make the decision to put our baby down. Mathilda was 16ish years old..... we rescued her 5 years ago so we weren't sure of her age. Once we decided it was best to put her down the staff brought our Mathilda into a family room so we could say our goodbyes. They stayed with us, hugged us and truly felt our pain.
