Email from Vet firing me
Abbey Q.

I previously left a 1 star review based on not being able to have my pet seen on 3 separate occasions. Not 1 time, but 3!! The reason being because they didn't have a Vet or they were too busy. I received an email from the Vet (posted below) that because of my negative review, they will not provide services for any of my pets. It's seems pretty petty of Dr. Lomeli to fire me due to my negative, HONEST review. I thought Yelp was a review site to share our experience. It's not like I was bashing the business or we had some sort of huge issue. I should be able to share my honest review without be worried about retaliation. I found it very frustrating and stressful that when my pet was in need of urgent care, that Rockwall URGENT Vet was unavailable. And again, on 3 separate occasions. I must have missed the national announcement that there is a Vet shortage. How was I suppose to of known that? Shame on your Dr. Lomeli. So now, the next time my pet has an urgent issue, I'm going to have to drive 20-30 minutes to get him seen. Which can mean all the difference in the outcome. Probably would have to anyway, since you can never see my pets.

Prissy ...

My 7 Pound Yorke had a late night reaction to her vaccines and just shut down! Scary for sure , so ran her up to Rockwall Emergency Urgent Veterinary Clinic and they were amazing in her care and great staff! We have used this service twice now and will definitely return if needed, but hope we have no more emergencies with our "Prissy!"

The staff and veterinarians care, and prices are reasonable, especially as a vet urgent care clinic. Great follow-up, too.

We got a call a few hours after we dropped her off that she died during surgery. this was a puppy who was up-to-date on her shots, had just had a checkup, and was in overall good health aside from the breathing issues. She was young, happy, full of life, and healthy. We were horrified after receiving the call and went down to the vet as soon as possible to see her one last time. She was lying on the table still... lifeless. When we left the vet came to us and gave us the bill. She said she took $300 off for killing our dog. so they still charged us $350 and now an extra $160 for the cremation services. my wife and I were stunned. They killed our dog and charged us $500 for it? We essentially paid them $500 to kill our healthy, sweet puppy. I've never dealt with more cruel, greedy, awful people in my life. I'm sure they've moved on and are just happy to have gotten paid for their "service". If you love your pets, I implore you to go somewhere else. There was no accountability taken for what was done. Our puppy is dead, and that's that. On top of that. A dog had been hit and was being taken back into the operating area, and my wife and I received glares from multiple employees there like we were inconveniencing them by being there.

However, when it comes to our fur babies, my wife has the final say! Hence, it was she who, after having a bad treatment experience with our regular veterinarian and one of our late felines, she sought out and decided to give over care of our babies to Dr. Muhoho and North 78 Pet Hospital (N78). The decision to entrust N78 and Dr. Muhoho came about after my wife researched N78 and read on their site that they offered advanced dentistry care. This was a major factor at this point in the lives of our fur babies, because the aforementioned bad experience involved a dental issue with our feline that eventually resulted in us losing her. Thus, my wife was intent on NOT having a similar experience with our feline Oliver "Ollie" Twist, who was having issues with his teeth. That was about a month ago. Fast forward to today and Ollie is on the mend and doing fantastic! All thanks to the care he has received from Dr. Muhoho and N78! Ollie - originally a pet feline turned feral feline with an imbedded collar that required surgical removal... turned pet feline - had been over-grooming and vomiting up mostly undigested food for a few years. Our regular veterinarian erroneously diagnosed Ollie's issue as allergies, resulting in over-grooming, resulting in hair ingestion, resulting in vomiting up his food. Wash - rinse - repeat! And, because of this past bad experience, my wife decided N78 was the better option. Or, at least worth checking out and giving Dr. Muhoho and N78 a chance at helping Ollie. As it turned out, Ollie needed to have seven teeth extractions. He came through his dental surgery very well, and as of today, his gums are healing nicely. He is also adjusting well to his dietary changes, has only vomited up food once or twice in the three weeks since his surgery and, he is no longer in pain. Ollie is now a happy HAPPY Boy! Thanks again to N78 and Dr. Muhoho! Dr. Muhoho is attentive, caring, thorough, and communicative to pet mommies and daddies about their fur babies, and has a great bedside manner! As a business, N78 staff are friendly, personable, yet professional! The business itself is clean and well-maintained. The entire experience we've had with N78 has been great from the outset! I am genuinely grateful that my wife decided to give over the care of our fur babies to Dr. Muhoho and N78! They have our trust and I sincerely believe they are worthy of yours likewise. Hoping your fur babies stay happy and healthy... Live well. Be well. Cheers!

Everyone seemed very eager to help and made th process smoothe. We liked the open concept because we were able to see the care provided not only to our dog but to the other pets as well. All of the staff worked as such a great team, and the communication between them seemed flawless. We were seen by Dr. Majors, and our tech was Hannah. Both of them were very reassuring and treated Florence like their own. VEG is a very pet family oriented vet, seeing us as a whole and not just a couple people with an animal. When it came time for the price, we were met with such nice transparency, and the DVM was honest with what she recommended and did not try to make us agree to anything that was unnecessary while also making sure we had the option to take all the tests if we so desired. I would absolutely recommend this emergency vet. We have been to another in Carrollton which did not come close to the level of care we experienced here. Thank you!

Horrified beyond measure, I scooped my baby up and jumped into the car to seek medical attention. We have a number of veterinary ERs that have popped up around our McKinney neighborhood, but I opted to risk the extra drive to get my baby into the care of VEG in Allen. While I had never experienced their emergency services, I had experienced their customer service once before--when I had the misfortune of losing her brother on Thanksgiving Day in 2024. We found this place by chance after being treated very coldly and callously by another establishment, which led us to VEG. That experience stuck with me, and thank God it did. In both instances, they treated me and my family with respect, compassion, and great care. Mica had three more mini seizures while in their care, and the staff was immediately on top of it. They were very upfront and clear in their communication, making sure I knew what was happening every step of the way. This allowed me to make informed decisions. It was my biggest fear that I would walk into a grave prognosis--which, on paper, it was documented as such: "grave to guarded." Be that as it may, I truly feel they gave my baby the fighting chance that saved her life. Not once did they bring up euthanasia, and thank goodness, because I don't think my heart could have handled it. I prayed to God to let her see her 12th birthday, which was the very next day, April 2--and sure enough, we made it. She is now 96 hours post-seizure, with no additional episodes since. We were prescribed and provided a rescue dose of midazolam in the event of another seizure, and should it happen again, you can guess where we'll be going. Thank you, specifically, to Dr. Majors, Taylar, and Walter. I am forever grateful for how you cared for us that day. You rolled up your sleeves and sprang into action. May you all serve as the example for how services like this should be rendered. From kissing my baby's forehead, to accommodating all of our needs in such a stressful moment, to sitting on the floor with us--it was all noticed and deeply appreciated. Happy Easter, and thank you again for the gift of a second chance at life.

Three Years of Being Dismissed After Airway Surgery - My Honest Experience…read more Three years ago, I brought my French Bulldog, Bambina, to this hospital for nares widening and elongated soft palate (BOAS) surgery because she was having breathing difficulties. I had originally considered going to a specialist in Dallas with excellent reviews, but I chose this hospital because it was right across from my office and I trusted what I was being told. I was told this surgery would help her breathing. What I was not told at the time was that: * The surgery might not fully resolve her symptoms * Tissue could regrow * The correction might be insufficient * She could still struggle long-term Had I been clearly advised that the surgery might not work or could require future corrective procedures, I would have seriously reconsidered keeping her. French Bulldogs are expensive, and I had already invested thousands of dollars. I was not financially prepared to face repeated airway surgeries or watch a dog slowly suffer from something I believed would be corrected. Since the surgery, Bambina has continued to struggle. For three years, I brought her back repeatedly. I saw multiple doctors at this facility. I complained about: * Ongoing respiratory distress * Loud breathing even at rest * Exercise intolerance (she cannot walk even short distances, even at 5 AM) * Repeated sinus infections * Vomiting and inability to keep food or water down without risk of aspiration Over and over, I was reassured she was "fine." One night, listening to her gasping for air while awake, I was devastated. I realized I could not continue being dismissed. I requested to speak directly with the surgeon who performed the procedure, as she travels in from out of state and is not regularly available. I also wrote her a letter explaining the severity of Bambina's condition. She agreed to meet with me free of charge. At that appointment: * She acknowledged Bambina is not breathing correctly. * When I pointed out that her nostrils still appear extremely tight, she stated she "could have possibly opened them more." * When I asked how that made me feel about the soft palate portion of the surgery -- whether that too may not have been done aggressively enough -- she declined to discuss revision. * She stated she did not want to perform corrective surgery because I "didn't trust her." For clarity: I never said I did not trust her. I said I did not believe the surgery had been done adequately because my dog has struggled for three years. When I asked why I was never advised at the time of surgery that this procedure might not work or that new data suggests these surgeries may not always resolve airway issues, I was told that information more recently suggests that results can vary. That possibility was never explained to me beforehand. Instead of discussing solutions, she stated she would "let her insurance company handle it." After this appointment, I requested Bambina's medical records. I was told I would receive information within 24 hours. Several days passed without receiving records. When I followed up, I was informed that Bambina had been terminated as a patient of the clinic. After three years of loyalty -- and after bringing two French Bulldogs to this hospital -- my dog was dismissed after I advocated for her. Bambina did nothing wrong. She is just a dog struggling to breathe. Watching your dog gasp for air is heartbreaking. It is devastating to feel unheard for years, to finally be acknowledged, and then to be terminated from care. I am sharing this because pet owners deserve full transparency when making life-altering surgical decisions for brachycephalic breeds. Ask detailed questions. Ask about failure rates. Ask about revision policies. Ask what happens if symptoms persist. Advocating for your animal should never result in losing access to care. Shame on you, Dr. Carter I truly believe you should care more about your patience and their quality of life. and can you believe they had the nerve to tell us at the end? Bambina is no longer a patient there because I simply asked to advocate for her if you listen to this video that is gonna be underneath, you tell me $4000 later this is the surgery that went well absolutely not In the hospital's public response to my Google review, it was implied that this matter involved a request for reimbursement. That is not accurate. At no time did I request money back. I requested a medical discussion regarding possible revision because my dog continues to experience breathing difficulty. My sole objective has been corrective care and improved quality of life for my dog -- not financial compensation.

Of…read morecourse things happen beyond our control, but that is the whole point of an EMERGENCY backup plan. For an animal "hospital" (or any place of business) to not have one in place is irresponsible. We almost missed our trip that day as we were dropping off our dog for boarding. With ZERO notice and no way to contact them, we were limited in options. When I called a few days later to talk to someone about my upcoming boarding reservations, this lady gave me no indication that they learned anything from this exercise. She wasn't overly apologetic about the circumstances we were put in, either. Instead she told me they sent a message in facebook (which I don't have) and an email to everyone the day before (which I didn't receive - of course I checked my JUNK folder when I finally reached the airport because I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt before I berated them for being so unprofessional). Then I asked her what happened to the currently boarded animals, and she confidently told me they were well taken care of, which I can only assume they were running either fans or coolers on generators. I am confused here because if this was true, then no one thought to plug in one of the computers to get the schedule for the day? Either way, I'm abhorred by all her answers (made up or not) and how they mishandled this situation overall. If they couldn't log in, fine; but there was no one at the office to greet their appointments for the day to offer alternative care - mine was only a monetarily devastating situation but what if my sick baby was scheduled that day? If the boarded animals were truly taken care of (temperature-wise), then surely a human could stand to be in the same conditions. While none of this adds up, my main concern was really to understand how we move on from here and to get a good feeling on future situations. She failed in all aspects, but at least I found out now and can go to another vet.
