I used RVH only because my vet was closed on Monday, and I knew my baby was in pain. I took her in because one of her eyes looked a little swollen and it was tearing, so it was causing both of them to be very sensitive. She also just came out of a heat and started spotting again. At her appointment the first thing he asked me "Is there a the reason you haven't fixed her yet?" in a condescending way. Seemed judgy, but I don't get offended easily, so I blew it off. (And yes, I do have a little bit of PTSD about putting my pups under, one died on the table while having her dental done from the anesthesia. They brought her back but it took 17 minutes, a little traumatizing) So...they took her back, did a sonogram of her uterus, and he came back and said she had Pyometra, an infection of the uterus and it's pretty enlarged, nothing else was said. I felt absolutely no sense of urgency as they brought me the bill and I had to ask "what can be done for this?" No one mentioned anything till I asked! The answer was she has to be spayed and in order to be operated on at this office, she needed to be up-to-date on all her vaccines. Well she's not, and that's a personal preference but they would not do the surgery without her getting 4 vaccines BEFORE surgery WITH A COMPROMISED IMMUNE SYSTEM. Last time I researched vaccine's, nothing living should be vaccinated with a compromised immune system. So I declined, paid and left. The next day I called my regular Vet and told them what was going on. They got her in right away that morning and did emergency surgery on her and told me that they are glad I brought her when I did because it was really bad and could have been life threatening. The Vet at RVH doesn't care about what's best for the pet, they are unethical, and don't care about informing the owner. I'm so glad I followed my gut and went to my regular vet. My dog had been very sick and had surgery scheduled dental work at a clinic in garland with her usual vet. She had an abcess on her mouth and it was infected, she was bleeding through her cheek and there was some blood coming out from her nose which was very concerning. I had her on antibiotics but decided to go to this clinic because her surgery date was still far away, maybe she could get it done sooner. When the doctor walked inside the room he asked a few questions and looked inside her mouth. he said "This is cancer "and explained very quickly why he was certain of his diagnostic. he mentioned a couple of things that could be done but my head was spinning,, he quickly took off his gloves and said "I can't do anything for your dog" walked out right away .The news were shocking. He had zero empathy for the world of pain that i was in. Didn't even give me time to process in order for me to ask questions. He didn't take more than 5 minutes in the room.I was shocked, full of questions. He could have had a little more humanity, he didn't even try to wipe the blood that was coming out of my babie's nose. i felt like he was grossed out, like he was almost mad, whatever he was feeling that day was just the energy that a person in pain does not need after learning that your dog is dying. His assistant the tech was very nice to me, i could tell she was trying to comfort me. she felt for me, and for that , i thank her. I paid for the office visit just like everyone ealse, to only get 5 minutes of his time.I wish he could have had a little more time to inform me. I took my dog back to her regular vet and shared his second opinion about the cancer. She agreed, said things looked different from her last visit, spent some time with me and my dog Mia in the room talking about how we could make her comfortable, talked about her meds, what to do in case of certain things, she just made me feel like she really cared about my dog's comfort and care because I think that is their job . I would never go back to rockwall veterinary clinic. I did complain and the doctor gave me a call back, he said sorry you felt this way, apparently he tought "l " felt that way ,because i chose to,, he never said " I'M sorry because "i" made you feel this way. He could have admitted that he made me feel some type of way. As of now my dog stopped bleeding, her wound closed up and she is doing very good I hope that this review helps him have a little more empathy and may he work with gods grace. read more

BEWARE*** I have been coming to Rockwall vet for about a year, bringing both cat and dog. I recently got a new puppy so of course I was going to bring my new baby here. Dr. Loftis was rude at the initial visit, he appeared to be annoyed that I had questions and concerns regarding a new puppy. Even though he was rude I thought maybe he was having a bad day so I chalked it up. All of my encounters with Dr Loftis over the year were minimal and he was neither friendly or rude, usually just acted like he was so busy he can't waste a second of his time. Most of my interactions over the year were with the staff which were always pleasant, kind, and they seemed to truly care about the animals. Bec I have a new puppy I knew I needed to get her vaccines eventually. She is a chihuahua weighing 1lb when I got her. When I took her in for the initial visit they charged me for some tests that weren't necessary but it was ok Bec I love my new baby and just wanted to confirm she was healthy since I got her off the street basically........she was healthy! Great! They ask me to come back in 2 weeks to re-test. I think to myself now why would that be necessary to bring my dog back if she is indoors, not around any other dogs and is not sick??? *** RED FLAG I Didn't take her back. I knew they wanted to rip me off. NOW Puppy shot time, she is now 4 months old weighing 4 lbs. I knew that DHPP, and rabies were the only 2 she needed. I knew they would recommend Bordetella. Upon waking in the tech states there are three main vaccines. She DID NOT STATE THE THREE....****RED FLAG ***** I said "I don't need Bordetella. My dog that has no contact with other dogs at this time. My dog has no interactions w groomers, and I don't board her. She doesn't need it." Keep in mind she is still VERY little 4lbs and 4 months. The vet tech proceeds to give her two vaccines. I ASSUMED DHPP and RABIES! Those would be the standard. Vet tech folds the paperwork and I stick it in my purse not considering it. I asked for an estimate to spay my baby. Vet tech told me well she will need to stay overnight Bec we monitor her and she needs more shots in the morning after surgery. (Since when do dog need an overnight visit for spay?) ***RED FLAG.... I get home look at the paperwork and I see a vaccine listed that was not disclosed to me. I did NOT give consent and was completely unaware they gave it to her. Now why on earth would a loving vet give a tiny dog CORONA vaccines??? That vaccine is 100% unnecessary. I suppose Bec 1 they don't care about what's best for the pet 2 they are unethical 3 don't care about informing the owner and 4 just want to rip you off 5 they are dishonest I can read for days and days online CORONA is for dogs that are in large groups, and furthermore CORONA is passed by fecal matter!! So if my dog is not around other dogs why would that be needed? Is that's what's best?? Wether it's recommended or not I wasn't given that choice to decide what's best for my pet. They decided for me. I call the vet the following morning and ask Vet to explain to me why they gave my dog a vaccine without 1 informing me 2 without my consent 3 that wasn't needed ... what was the outcome??? Well being the professional animal lover that he is he simply laughed and said "Oo well u know it's not related to C19, we give whatever is standard, you came for vaccines so that's what we gave." Hummm like I said. I don't care what the vaccine is. You administered a vaccine to a 4 pound baby Chihuahua that was unnecessary and without my consent. DISHONEST! Unethical and illegal. Pretty sure The Texas Veterinary Board requires consent from pet owner prior to administering any care. Not Rockwall Vet! They do what the want. They make their own rules. Vet tells me "Oo well that's pretty standard and besides she told you she was giving the dog a corona vaccine" Really? If she did my answer would have been NO ITS NOT NEEDED. It's my right to determine what's administered to my dog. Not yours! If you love and care for your pet don't take them here. They don't care about what's best for the pet. They care about what's best for their pockets. See photo of peer reviewed journals and from the AKC. Doesn't look to standard to me. And who knows, I'm assuming that's why they need to keep my dog overnight to get spayed... adverse reaction. More unnecessary vaccinations. I wouldn't come back if you were the last vet on earth. You should be ashamed for the response you gave me. Simply unbelievable. I definitely don't recommend this vet clinic. I was their client for over 2 years, and the day my dog had an emergency ( during working hours) I called Rockwall vet clinic, and they told me they were full, and had no openings for that day. But hey, they also said, for $75 extra ( on top of the vet appointment price), they could see my dog in 5 more hours. What a rip off. I moved from Houston to Rockwall, and I was glad to find a vet who would really care for the dog, ... but obviously this was not the place. Now I go to the Premier Rowlett vet clinic where they have lots of vets on premises and they do various dog services. I'll never go back to Rockwall te clinic. read more

Dr Loftis has taken great care over 25 years of our pack 4 Rottweilers, 3 Cats, 2 Chihuahuas, and our latest Furbabie Rhodesian Ridgeback. Our Rotties were all from some family and their ole age and decline in health all occurred within months of each other. Dr Loftis and his staff comforted me and my husband and allowed us to take all the time we needed In the room with each and every kiddo prior to their departure to the Bridge. They never missed sending a card of sympathy which meant so much to us both. The prices are very fair. Easy access just north of I-30 on Goliad St on the east side of road just past Carwash. Note COVID-19 procedures are in effect here. Vet Tech will meet you outside to take your FurBabie inside to complete your request. They will then return them and settle payment at that time. BEWARE if you have big dogs. *See photos*. If I could leave a zero, I absolutely would. I've been coming here with my two dogs for almost 2 years. NEVER coming back. David Loftis D.V.M. Was such a condescending unprofessional when it came to my biggest dog, who is roughly 80 pounds. They attempted to get blood for a heart worm test. My dog has some anxiety that we've worked through in the past with cheese and loving on him. For some reason David didn't believe how in the past we've been successful with him. First he tried to get blood work on him in the back without us helping our dog through it, that was never going to be successful. The whole ordeal was highly unprofessional and completely unnecessary since they already have documented that my dog needs us and distractions. David scoffed at the idea that cheese and our assistance might help. Unfortunately my dog was already so traumatized and overheated that he would not let him get blood work, despite our efforts. Instead of being professional and communicating possible alternatives, David instead threw the needle in the sink and didn't say a word to us and angrily walked out. Dr. Loftis nor the other clinical staff offered anything to help us clean up our now bleeding dog. They certainly had no problem working on our invoice. The techs had nothing to say either. Horrible treatment from all staff. We requested our medical records on both dogs and will happily NEVER be going back!! Still don't know if our dog might have heart worms but we will try to find that out at another Vet. What I do know is that my dog is now LIMPING and has swelling from where these blood draw attempts were made. read more

The front desk was very cordial and the office is very inviting and warmly decorated. I had a easy time setting up the appointment and had to change it and it was very easy to change it as well without any difficulty or hassle. Dr. Loftis was straight to the point and lickety-split we're done. Dr Loftis always takes great care of our pets. Today our little puppy was really sick. We ended up taking her to the animal emergency hospital in mesquite but they had no clue what was wrong and wanted $400 to do bloodwork. I decided to take her home and watch her and make an appointment with Loftis. He was worried and called us and gave several possibilities and was really worried. He recommended sugar water every thirty minutes in case it was hypoglycemia We decided to try that for a few hours and she got so much better with the first dose. I gave to her every thirty minutes and she got a little better every time. I called with an update. He made one more suggestion and it worked. BEST VET AROUND. read more

We were new to area...with a special needs dog. This is the only doc that didn't act like Hannibal Lecter was being brought in. His approach kept my dog calm and made something that was normally stressful, easy. Also-more recently he saw my puppy and diagnosed her correctly within .5 seconds, fixed it within a few minutes and had us out the door. They are priced better than the other vets in the area and provide a more timely and knowledgeable service from what we have seen. I recently took my cat in after I noticed he was barely eating and drinking. They said that it would be a wait as they were full up at the time I arrived at 8:45AM my cat was lethargic but still lucid. About 30 minutes later we were admitted and the attending vet said that he was very dehydrated, took his temperature, felt around his stomach and body, then they should do a blood test. They did the test and we sat there for 45 minutes waiting my cat resting his head in my hand. I couldn't understand if he was as dehydrated as he was, why didn't they start an IV or something to bring his fluids up. Shortly there after my cat went into distressed breathing and began crying. They eventually came back and said he was extremely anemic, I asked what could we do for him they could try a transfusion. He then observed the breathing then the vet said that he may have cancer, or kidney issues and that the best thing we could do for him was to stop his suffering. He left the room, 15 minutes later he came back with a syringe but my cat had passed away while we waited. They waved the emergency fee, and just charged $300.00 for the office visit and blood test. read more

They told us our dog had to be sedated for every visit. Rockwall veterinary hospital as the second place we found and it was the best experience. Vet and the staff was so informative, compassionate, and our pet has been at ease at every visit. No sedation or muzzle. I do NOT believe there are enough words to describe how exceptional my visit was! 1: The front lady who helped me get settled with my first visit today are super friendly and explained everything clearly. They got me to the back super quick!! (Even when I called to set up the appointment she was quick, fluent and we even got some laughs out of it) I was completely welcomed and I felt right at home. 2: They were gentle with my dog ( she's my spoiled rotten child) I know she will be happy to see them again! Through the years, Dr. Joe and Dr. David have treated our dogs and cats with wonderful compassionate care. The staff is prompt, courteous and kind. We just took our dog into the vet because our dog was sick, vomiting and runny stools. We met the doctor David Lotis for the first time and never even gave us a handshake. He came in asked questions and left. He insisted on x-rays and the blood test. We decided to do that and pay the money, but at the end of the day, they could not find anything and we had to pay 450 bucks. 450 bucks to let us know that they could not find anything. They just seemed to care about money and that's it. I would give a 1 star, but they seemed to do the tests correctly or so I think. Overall a waste of money. read more

This place is very scared of covid, make you stay in the parking lot in your car, no others do that, they make you wait in the car but you go in with your animal, I took a chance and brought my cat there thinking they knew what they were doing there. I waited in the parking lot while they looked at my cat inside, or did they? I wasn't there, they charged me 140 dollars for nothing, my cat is still sick and losing it's hair and losing weight like crazy even though it eats. They told me he had an ear infection, bull crap, they ripped me off and want 180 dollars more to take blood and see if they can find out what the problem is. They are a rip off and my cat is dying because I cannot afford these rip off places, oh yeah they did nothing, I did all the work fighting to get ear medicine down it's ears and squirt steroids down it's throat, major mis diagnosis, be careful going there, you don't know what they are doing inside, this scared crap has to go. read more
