We needed to be seen same day due to our Rottweiler not being able to walk and wasn't eating. They were able to fit us in, so nice and sympathetic. I had to put my dog to sleep a week ago. When I received her ashes they did not do her paw print, which I specifically asked for and the vet herself told me they would do a nose print as well. When I went to pick up her ashes, which I did not receive a phone call for and had to call myself. I was told by the receptionist that sometimes they aren't able to do the paw print, which when she said that I was shocked. I have 10 yrs of vet tech experience, and nothing ever came in the way of me doing a paw print for a client. My chihuahua was 6 lbs with little to no fur between her paws so it should have been very simple to do. To straight lie to my face, telling me that you're going to do something and you don't even have the intentions on doing is a straight slap to the face. To the male vet tech or tech assistant that was "caring" for my pet at this emotional and vulnerable time, do better. You are a coward not owing up to your lack of care and having your receptionist take the fall for that. I had my beloved dog for 15yrs and you couldn't take 5mins out of your day to do a simple paw print. But you did have time to make a note that it wasn't able to be done. Makes no sense. read more

I had to put my dog down on May 19th. After 15 years together I thought this would be a good place for him. I should've known from the receptionist brushing me off when I originally called to arrange things for him. When I first called the person was desperate to get me off the phone and that's when things went south. My dogs name is SHMEAGLE the beagle. I know the spelling is odd but that's my dog and after spelling his name out and giving them the info I thought things would've been fine. After picking up his remains, the name plate is incorrect. They told me they'd take care of it but when I went to pick it up AGAIN thinking it would be solved, it was still spelled wrong. When I told the receptionist she brushed me off and just said "Again? I'll have them fix it." No apologies or any sign of compassion. There was a sticker on the envelope with the correct spelling but the plate was once again incorrect. I understand it was just the name plate but the lack of care, compassion and attention to detail during the loss of my best friend felt horrible. I understand it's "just the name plate." but it's so much more than that. He was my best friend of 15 years and he deserves respect even when it comes to his name. It makes me wonder if he was truly taken care of after he was put down. Was he treated with love and respect even in that final process? He was more than just a name plate and someone's dog. He was my dog and I loved him very much. To be shown such disrespect by an office that is supposed to care and help these babies in their final moments or just regular care feels like this may not be a great place to take your loved ones. I've been coming here for over a year since I got my puppy. The staff always remembers his name and he's always so happy to be there which lets me know they are taking good care of him. I moved about 30 minutes away from Rowlett recently and I still prefer to make the drive here over anywhere else. It's hard finding good vets but they will always let me know pricing of extra tests up front and give me the option to add it on or not. Did not appreciate how my puppy was treated here a few months ago. I adopted a 3 month old puppy & she had just gotten fixed (at a different hospital) when I brought her home. About a week later, I noticed her incision had accidentally opened back up. This hospital was the only place close by that was open that evening so I called & rushed her over to get her closed back up. First, the vet tech was completely insensitive & said to me while smiling & chuckling, "Let me go make sure her intestines aren't falling out!" I would never say that to a crying & panicking client like that! I felt like I wasn't being taken seriously at all. Then, after we got put in a room, the doctor informed me she would need 3 staples & then she took my pup to the back to do it. Now, I was under the impression that she would be numbed before being STAPLED, because that's what everyone would assume, right? Nope! I could hear my baby crying out from the back as she was stapled on er stomach WITHOUT numbing, THREE TIMES. The doctor brought her back & I asked "Was she not numbed at all??" & she replied with, "No, she was only crying cause she's a little drama queen." She literally tried to cover her ass by blaming my THREE. MONTH. OLD. PUPPY. Yeah, no thanks. I will never recommend or come back to this place due to how my poor baby was treated & how I was talked to! I didn't even trust this place to remove the staples, I went to a different clinic. We're new to this vet clinic. I brought in my dog because she was experiencing some pain (dog is half chihuahua and half dachshund). Currently, the parking lot is under renovation so it's kind of hard to locate the vet clinic, but it's across the street from the Rowlett Animal Shelter and in the same lot as where the DQ is. When the vet came in, she felt our dog to see her sensitivity response. The vet told us that our dog is probably just suffering from inflammation in her joints. What I really liked about her was that she wasn't quick to push for an x-ray for the dog. Inflammation wouldn't show up on the x-ray anyway and I'm glad that we only left with a bottle of anti inflammatory pills for the dog instead of an inconclusive x-ray with a bigger bill. We had to take my 82yr old mother in laws Chihuahua from her because she couldn't care for her. The dog is old and 17.4 pounds (yep) I brought her in for a quality of life check as she has to be exhausted carrying around that much weight. She also had some other visible medical issues. I arrived at the clinic and they checked me in at 8:17. Around 8:45 i was moved to an exam room. I understand I had no appointment and just walked in. But seeing NOBODY until 10:20 was enough for me. The vet who did examine her provided me with a couple options and we decided to treat rather than have to put her down. The vet stated there was no medical reason to put her down. Which made me assume everything was ok and treatable. They prescride medication and administered the initial dose in the clinic. Though this dog was not my own, I cannot imagine another family walking without an appointment and having to wait 1.5 hours listening to your pets gasping breath and obvious pain. I don't care about staffing issues, or scheduling conflicts or this is what to expect when a "walk in". Even a "crack the door" and "hey the doc is real busy it is still going to be awhile, do you want to continue to wait or schedule an appointment and come back.?" Give me an option to go to some emergency clinic if you have time. 2 hours!!!. This was yesterday, our dog died in her sleep last night before I could administer a single dose of the medication the clinic provided. I do not tell people where to take their business and will not do so here. I will state my experience and let you decide to give your business to them or not. read more

Do NOT trust your pet to these people. As a new resident living nearby I thought this place would be a good place to take my 13 year old Boston terrier for routine care. I took her there 3 times and they gave her a good bill of health, except for some muscle weakness and hearing loss due to age. They said. On a Sunday two weeks after her last visit she could not walk and held her head to the side as though she could not hear. I rushed her to an emergency vet in Rockwall. They diagnosed her as severely diabetic and a prolonged ear infection that burst her eardrum. After much heartache and expense I had her euthenized. Rowlett Vet completely missed these 2 issues. How can a licensed vet doing a routine ear exam miss an ear infection that is so severe the eardrum is near bursting? read more

My family and I have been loyal to this facility before the younger veterinarians took over. The former doctors were amazing and they made sure that those who took over the space would take care of it. The facility is better than it has ever been. In the old days the building had blacked out windows, with ancient chipped brick, & a small patch of green yellow grass for dogs to relieve themselves at. The interior was tiny and has less room for activities. It's spaced out now in the waiting room and they have a little coffee bar. Always clean & professional. Like any clinic of course there is going to be a wait. Stay patient they are giving your and other peoples...pets the best care they can. As for the staff I can always tell the receptionists are quite stressed but anyone who works customer service of any kind is. No biggie at all. The veterinarians are very kind...especially after my family and I lost our pets. Within a year...firstly my American Bulldog Roxy, my mama's black cat Pepper, and my sisters senior Shetland Sheepdog pup Timmy. Dr.Woodham has a way of explaining everything we needed to know in fantastic detail. Even when it came to coming to the hardest decision to make for our pets... Dr. Henson and Dr. Woodham really made sure we had time to say our goodbyes. They took care of us start to finish of most of your animals lives. They were also kind enough to send sympathy cards, with nose kisses, and paw prints on them with their ashes. Thank you for everything. read more

Dr Hansen saw my cat George and was very thorough. George has constipation issues and a small cyst. Dr gave me advice on how to treat the constipation. He also took a biopsy of the cyst on George and checked it under scope. We are to monitor that as well for future removal if necessary. Pricing was up front and very reasonable. Place is hard to find, but after calling many other places who couldn't make appointments or does not take on new patients, we found our new vet. So in closing George will be back. read more

This clinic is the best I would never take my puppy elsewhere!! My mini Pomeranian was very sick at 2 months old and I thought he wouldn't make it. On a busy morning they took me in with no appointment and every other place I called an appointment was required meanwhile my puppy kept getting worse by the hour. They took such good care of him and made sure I remained calm and understood that it would take a couple of days for him to get better. While this vet is not the most expensive vet I've used, it's not my favorite. There can be a bit of wait time even with an appointment, unless you're having an emergency. My emergency issue had zero wait time. The reason I decided to go elsewhere is because of the seeming lack of communication. My dog went in for an all day blood test. When I called 5 hours later they had forgotten about my dog and asked me to reschedule the test. I wonder how much longer he would have been there, had I not called. There also didn't seem to be good communication between doctors and they would ask me questions that I felt should have been put in his notes, like, why was his medication dosage changed? Because your other doctor said to? ‍ They also dropped the ball when ordering through Chewy's and my order got canceled. Like I said, communication is not their strong suit. I'm used to my old vet who knew my dogs name by sight and most of his background without even needing his chart. They also took the time to explain in detail what was going on and would send me home with information packets. Here I got nothing and had to keep calling back to ask questions. read more

I took my cat in to the clinic in May 2021. Dr. Henson was very helpful and informative. Just a chronic digestive issue, but my 13 year old cat now acts like she is 2. It is very obvious that his quick diagnosis and easy sollution did wonders for my fur baby. We were beginning to worry about her longivity and now we know that she has a number of great years left in her. I've been in twice this week with my 13 year old cat. The new facility is gorgeous- clean, spacious and well equipped. We saw Dr. Elton and found her to be kind, professional, and attentive. She followed up with me as promised and in a timely manner. I was back in today for recommended treatment following testing and diagnosis, and since we were a weekend walk-in, we did wait a while. I was fine with this because I'm a human with a heart and also eyeballs, who can understand that emergency cases or appointments will be helped first. Front desk staff is busy but again, kind and professional. I plan to keep bringing my car here and have already referred a friend to this practice. Nothing more! Find somewhere else! To get a $29 vaccine, you pay a $79 office fee! Took my cat today, she wasn't feeling well. of course they wouldn't give her the vaccine bc she wasn't feeling well. However, asked if I could bring her back in two weeks, ( their suggested wait time) and not have to pay the office visit beimy that she had seen the Dr today. Was told the Dr was booked through the 4th of May. I explained that I was leaving the country on that day and would be gone for a week. So they said NOPE, if I brought her in after that I would need to pay the office visit plus the vaccine. They are not about their customers or the pets! Only about making money! read more

Our 12 yr old Beagle developed Pancreatic issues a few months ago and it had recently become cancerous and had attacked her liver. She was like one of our children but we could no longer see her suffer. My son had used Rowlett Vet Clinic for several years and I decided to have them put her down. Her regular Vet said it would take a few days when we finally decided to do it and their price was much more expensive than Rowlett clinic. When I arrived they immediately put us in a private room and allowed me to take all the time I wanted to tell our pet goodbye. Every tech that I dealt with was extremely compassionate and sensitive. When I was ready, they administered a sedative that immediately put her to sleep followed by a stimulate that caused her heart to slow until she passed. Absolutely no pain. It was very prompt and I could not have had been treated better. They were also extremely caring for her and made her comfortable during the enntire process. Of course, it was distressing for the entire family ... but it was the right time and the right clinic. read more

We started going to Rowlett Veterinary Clinic almost 10 years ago (wow, how times flies). Dr. Jung still owned the practice when our four legged babies became patients and while it was never about frills, they were just good people and I think that's what drove their loyal clientele--that and the prices helped as well. ;) As the new owners took over the place began to change--not all in bad ways though. They did some small updates such as updating the filing system, adding a coffee machine and working on adding some pet-friendly landscaping. All these things were nice. However, the staff is not the same, the prices have increased, but the service declined. We recently stopped going here after one of my dogs had an ear infection. We were given ear drops to use and he ended up not being able to hear. I called the vet and was told to bring him in so they could look at him. I was told the medicine they prescribed could result in this side effect and that his hearing may never return. Who prescribes medicine like this without warning an owner this could happen. I was so upset. And then they charged me for the office visit. Say what!?! Well, we have since decided to start going to a new vet. The price is much higher, but I feel like they pay a bit more attention to detail than Rowlett Vet. Clinic. I wish this vet all the best, but at this point I'm not sure my dog's health is the top priority especially when alternative treatments are available for an ear infection that don't result in deafness. read more
