I have been a patient of Dental Professionals for many years. The old reviews will tell you how great they were. THEY WERE GREAT BEFORE THE PRACTICE WAS SOLD to Timothy Houlihan. I have never written a negative review of a medical provider before but I seriously believe this guy is just out to mine mouths for dollars. I'm looking for a new dentist after 25 years because I do not trust this guy and I don't think you should either.
I go every four months to get my teeth cleaned, and during COVID this new dentist buys a new x-ray machine that will now do full head, wrap around, x-rays so he can look for TMJ. I explained to them I don't want them to look for TMJ and I don't want a head and neck x-ray. I have never seen SUCH PRESSURE in my LIFE! The woman practically tried to herd me into the machine. Mr. Houlihan has his hygienist bugged so he can listen in on our conversation, and he's evidently losing it in her ear while I am declining. She is desperately trying to convince me I have to submit. It was insane. He refused to even do an exam because I wouldn't submit. I was sort of ejected after the cleaning. The cleaning felt like she was trying to cause problems and pain that might bring me back for "treatment." This was four months ago.
I returned today for my cleaning (thinking everyone has been a little crazy during COVID, so I'll give them another chance) and immediately the hygienist starts up about this wrap around x-ray. Again, I declined. I said if I needed regular x-rays, I'd do that. So she took them, MORE x-rays in one session than I have ever seen taken before in my life. It was incredible. And I am a person who has had good and consistent dental care all my adult life. Then Mr. Houlihan comes out and tells me I have four cavities "that are leaking and he's been watching", but somehow never mentioned to me before?? I ask to see what he's looking at on all those x-rays they just took. Oh, he didn't take pictures where the cavities are??!!?? He cannot show me anything. He then told me I had to submit to the wrap around x-ray, or he could no longer treat me. He said, "I know you feel backed up against the wall..." He couldn't even look at me as he was telling me all this, his eyes were closed and he occasionally glanced at the ceiling. I said, "Okay, you are asking me to find another dentist." His response was to tell me that no other dentists will treat me if I do not submit to this x-ray machine. He assumes if I come to the dentist I want to keep my teeth. Seriously? Threats and preying on people's fears. He's a real class act. This is how he deals with patients.
During my cleaning, the hygienist was talking to me about how the limits on what dental plans will pay for are far too low, she's clearly prepping me. And the first thing the dentist asked me was what my winter travel plans were, not how are you? He was looking for disposable money. I don't know this dentist, we haven't built any kind of relationship. He bought the practice not all that long before COVID and he was shutdown for a good while, as all dentists were.
Many dentists are desperate for income. These are small businesses and they pay as much for their education as many doctors do. It's been rough. I get that, but I am not willing to have a lot of unnecessary "treatment" to make up for lost revenue. And you shouldn't be either. I am sad to have to write this review. read more
