Also, hire a inspector. Our inspector was able to find various issues such as gas lines and shut off valves covered with spray foam insulation, balloon framing, p traps on hvac equipment and more. UPDATE: Spoke with the president of the company via email. They fixed everything. I was able to contact management and the superintendent apologized for showing us the home in this condition. During the process of purchasing our home, we worked closely with Angela and Mike in the sales office, and they were wonderful. We bought a 10 year old DeNova house in Napa: - flooring cannot be exposed to water yet they installed in kitchen. - we use portable heaters in bedrooms because heat vents are in the ceilings closest to the center of the house. - widows are already failing requiring repairs and replacements. -toilets were super cheap and replaced. - paints used were inferior quality requiring repainting. - exterior caulking failing and has been reworked. Summary: for the lack of quality suffered by the purchaser, DeNova could have done it right for a few percent more. Get a detailed inspector. read more

I've had a very disappointing experience with Denova Homes. The quality of their builds is extremely poor--everything feels cheap and rushed. If I had known this beforehand, I never would have moved into one of their homes. After moving in, I noticed numerous issues: chipped countertops, sloppy paint jobs, sharp objects sticking out of the carpet, and things constantly breaking. I had to schedule repairs frequently, which became exhausting. I would not recommend these builders to anyone. read more

We have had a very positive experience with DeNova Homes, from beginning to end of the home buying process (Luminescence development in Rio Vista, CA). Everyone we have interacted with is positive, friendly, and energetic. We've asked hundreds of questions (more than once) and the responses from the DeNova team are always timely and helpful. I can't say enough good things about Wendy and Anna on the Sales Team; Wendy, in particular, connected us to Leslie (from DeNova's Designated Lender) to understand our options for selling our existing home and purchasing a new home at the same time. Don Wehby (Superintendent) and Melissa Morrison (Customer Service) have been great collaborators to bounce questions off of regarding home features; they have been available via phone call, text and email, nothing seems too small or annoying to ask them. Melissa is so organized: I don't know what I would have done without her those first 30 days as I had broken my arm while moving out of our old house and couldn't keep anything neat, clear, or straight. We grew discouraged about being able to buy a decent, yet affordable home when we moved to California...until we walked into the DeNova Homes model in the Luminescence development in Rio Vista, CA! Fabulous floor plans, top quality appliances, solar, tile and granite standard, top notch fixtures, high quality throughout...for less than we sold our previous home for back in Oregon! We have been absolutely gobsmacked by the tremendous support and responsiveness of the DeNova customer liason folks, as well! Incredible value, great builder responses, comfortable living in a 55+ community with lots of amenities to enjoy (pickleball and tennis courts, pool and spa, fitness facility, clubhouse, bocce ball courts, community garden, wine storage lockers, etc.). Update 12/24/2018 After 4 weeks of struggling with DeNova homes the warranty period has expired and the GE dishwasher issue was dropped without any resolution. Their final response was not fix the leaking dishwasher but to tell me to call the manufacturer to resolve the issue. I can tell you how difficult this is with no proof or purchase. Bottom line if you buy from DeNova do not expect any pride in the product. Update 11/27/2018 I'm at the end of my warranty period. I've had a dishwasher issue. They came to the house. Removed the dishwasher. Put it in my garage and left it there. Going on week number three and no replacement. These company is terrible. 1/122018 I could write and write and write, but I don't want to waste any more energy on DeNova Homes. Poor supervision on there job sites leads to piss poor quality. Late, hella late on delivery of the house. No explanation just No attention to detail - wrong key on move-in day. Just the tip of the iceberg. Inspect your house carefully if you decide to buy. Cracks! - cracked stucco, cracked concrete, cracked drywall, cracked tile, cracked counters. On move-in day. No commitment to quality products or workmanship. All finished were cheap, cheap, cheap! Design of homes is excellent for seniors. Quality is low cost. HOA ($303 per month) is terrible but the builder(s) (and city of Rio Vista) are a big part of that. Too many cars parked on street and driveways, landscape poorly maintained by HOA, builders, and far too many owners. Street signs crooked or missing, streets are old and suffer from large cracks. Pool and spa have had problems for the 18 months we have lived here. Gates to the "gated community" are left open far too much due to sales office need but they are also broken down often. A promised park by the ugly old Well site has not been built. We hoped for better but as the old saying goes, "you get what you pay for". read more

If I didn't have to give a star, DeNova Homes wouldn't even get one! The experience from the misinformation provided to us by Kelly, the salesperson at Aspen, Emerson Ranch in Oakley to the lies and misspeak from their warranty manager have been nonstop! DeNova has failed to follow through on many aspects of the preparation and sale of our home, to resolving issues in a timely manner. The quality of works is absolutely abysmal! The craftsmanship is poor and sloppy throughout the entire home! It's amazing just how much we cited, which was close to 90 items inside of 30 days of owning our home. Many empty promises have left us very disappointed with our decision to buy from DeNova Homes. Given the chase to reconsider, we would move on to different developer or a resale home. This is merely from a visit to their new home build in Martinez. We had already viewed their remaining homes in Clayton. In Clayton, excellent customer service. Martinez? Nope, completely ignored. You do understand there are customers seeing your homes WHO CAN AFFORD THEM. I just have never seen anything like it, I was asking questions out loud and one of your reps just sat there on her laptop. For 1.0MM - 1.5 MM, I would pass just based on this. I live on Vine Hill Way in Martinez, across from the new development by DeNova. Our street has been congested over six weeks with no street parking. The no parking signs expired on August 10, but they still remain. When speaking to a DeNova representative, he rudely shouted that it is PG&E's fault. Well, close the project down until PG&E corrects the situation, and we can get some relief from the congestion. Bottom line....I would not vote DeNova Homes or its representatives high on customer relations. read more

We bought a home from DeNova in 2018 in Orange County. At the time (and still now), we had very high standards and were very tough on Denova's quality and workmanship. Each time, they resolve the issue and stood behind their product. We just sold our home and moving into a new build by Lennar. From our experience with Lennar, we realized how reliable and responsible DeNova was to us during our 4 years with the home. I understand mistakes happen and it's sometimes frustrating to correct it. But DeNova pushed through and we will miss their product. This is a long overdue review but I wanted DeNova to know they did a good job. Reputation takes years and sometimes decades to build...but oh how easy it can crash when one doesn't keep up with their reputation. I'm not sure how DeNova is now but I can vouch for their follow through. read more

First off, I don't know where these other people live, but we bought our DeNova home in Dixon, Ca. DeNova was with us EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. Every upgrade was PERFECT. And there were $100,000 of upgrades! The flaws that DID come with the house, we're addressed IMMEDIATELY! Greg Janes is the DeNova man who is in charge overseeing ANY complaint the new home owner may have. Believe me, he even responded to an email we sent on a SUNDAY about an electrical problem. Brian, he is the foreman at the job site, he's always around to answer ANY AND ALL your questions about ANYTHING that has to do with your new home. If it's just a quick fix he'll do it or get someone who will. Nicole in the sales office is absolutely a pure professional! You got questions? She has answers. I have NEVER left the sales office without a printed copy containing the information I was asking about. So how many NEW homes do you buy that you can compare DeNova too? I'm 66 and this is my 1st new home. I feel like someone has been holding our hands and walking us through the process all the way! All in all we moved in April 4th. it now August 25 we have nothing but compliments on our home. All our neighbors are friendly. I have heard NOTHING but good things from all my neighbors about their homes. So I don't know what these other people are talking about.......but unless someone else responds, everyone at NEWBURY in Dixon is just fine with our DeNova home! read more

I've rented a beautiful townhouse through Denova for the past few years. I have nothing but good things to say. Rhonda Memory is wonderful to work with. I found her to be responsive to email and text. Issues submitted for repair were generally addressed very quickly. She worked with me through roommate changes even mid-lease. She allowed a payment plan for the large initial deposit on move in. I appreciate how personable and kind she is at each interaction. In reading previous reviews, it sounds like people have had issues specifically with buying a home. I don't have any experience with Denova on a home purchase but I can say I think they're wonderful to rent with. This has been the most pleasant rental experience I've had yet in California and I absolutely love my townhouse. read more

This builder has failed to honor their warranty. Home was purchased in Hollister Ca. In 2019. Yes. I know the circumstances in the world. Now that we have slowly started to get better this company failed to return or come out to make the necessary repairs and things that have gone wrong since the purchase. No return phone calls or emails. Very disappointed making the biggest purchase of your life requires immediate attention from a builder who makes you so many promises during the process of buying a home. read more

UPDATE: So finally Mr.Maloney himself came to our house for the first time to address the issues and how it will be resolved so I changed it to 3 stars since he has since fixed some of the issues, although there are still some outstanding ones that I'm still currently waiting on. I think if this company puts a little more effort in Customer Service and support after a customer buys a house then there will be more satisfied customers. This company needs to consider the hassle of having to schedule things around a busy family's schedule. I used DeNova for renting a house in Angels Camp and I can say, with equivocation, that this group is spectacular. They treated me compassionately - like a real human being. Wow. What a concept. They did EVERYTHING they said they would do, and once or twice went above and beyond the call of duty. I am super impressed! Can I use too many superlatives? Michelle Lopez is a rock star. 1 Star is the best that I can possibly give to DeNova Homes. Really poor quality. It is VERY clear that they used the cheapest of everything. We have a huge crack in a retaining wall in our townhouse community. DeNova's rendering of the property that they hung in the showroom showed a huge park next door. There is no park! Right now there is a 5 story apartment complex, a medical office building and a parking structure going up right where they said would be a park. In my house the light fixture over the sink of my guest bathroom was off center by 2 1/2 inches. Which I paid to have repaired because the warranty company sends the same crappy contractor that messed it up in the first place. Also discovered that the pendent lights above the kitchen island are not centered either. They are off by 6 whole inches. I've already had a flood in the bathroom. The flood was not caused by construction. However, when the floor in the bathroom was demoed we found no wonder board or any kind of sealant under the tile. Just partical wood. Now to make matters worse, we have two DeNova employees on the Board of Directors for the HOA. These people act like jerks on the phone and talk down to you. I went to a meeting and someone brought up the fact that the sidewalk to our community stops in front of one of the homes which forces anyone using the sidewalk to step into the street into oncoming traffic at a corner. There is ground cover that can be removed so that people can continue their walk where it is safe. Without even looking at it one of the people from DeNova told the property manager, "tell the Owner that it can't be done." These people don't care and don't live there. Bottom line, DeNova does a piss poor job. I will do EVERYTHING in my power to let as many people know about the quality of their work. Of the 2 DeNova employees the woman on the phone was a total asshole when she was talking to me. The topic of conversation was the lack of guest parking. The woman told the Property Manager to send out a third letter to the residents. When I said that I didn't think that a third letter would solve anything since the first two didn't she barked at me on the speaker phone, "Well do you have a better idea?!" I'll go back through my notes and find her name and update this post. Her name is Lori. They are all really nice while you are in the process of purchasing your home. Denova Homes, Oak Leaf, Napa, Ca. The word "Contingency" at Denova Homes at Oak Leaf, Napa, Ca. is a Deal Ender! Once they find out you have home that needs to be sold and along with your purchase. The door is closed. Our visit to view available home was normal and professional. They seem to show interest in a "Contingency Sale" during the visit. But once at offer is made, they make impossible to meet the closing date. We made offer around 10:00am and at 11:15am had a replied that our offer was reasonable, mentioned that the builder would be interested. At 3:48, they took a deposit from another buyer for the same home and replied. "We have another home available only if you buy real soon and don't have a "Contingency" Can't help to but wonder if Denova Homes at Oak Leaf, Napa has completely different kind of "Contingency Plan" read more
