Doors were locked 35 minutes before close. All I wanted was a milkshake. This was today August 10th. You're working there for a reason just do your job and serve us. It's Denny's so it's not anything fancy, but it was nice going to a casual breakfast with our family away from the hustle and bustle of the busy touristy restaurants. It took forever to get our order taken, despite there being 6 servers and only a few tables. My kids got their food first but it took another 20 minutes for my husband and I to get ours. My food was cold. My husband's eggs were sunny side up instead of over easy and they were VERY undercooked. I give them 2 stars because our server was great but BEWARE they automatically put a 20% tip on your bill and they charge you a 15% tip on top is you have 5 or more people in your party. We had 2 kids and 2 adults and a 5 month old (who didn't eat obviously) and they decided to tip is the 15% on top of the 20% which is a scam. Our $50 bill ended up being $70! It's a rip off i don't recommended this place. Will be contacting corporate because they apparently have a piece of paper on the desk that says all this but they don't tell people when they come in, they greet you and sit you down! I had a rather unsatisfactory dining experience with a server (Pearl W) in regards to the service which was, to me, very disappointing. At the beginning of our breakfast Pearl came to take our order less than a minute after we looked at the menu and then returned 2 minutes later. Neither I nor the other diner had enough time to choose what to eat. When we decided what to eat, she told us that she was changing our order to supposedly give us a better price and adapt to our accommodations (no sausage). Then, after we ordered she hastily gave us our food and frankly did not have any manners. She neglected to pour us coffee and instead handed the pot to us while we were eating to do it ourselves. Further, at the end of the meal we were charged an extra 3 dollars even though from what we were told by our server, was supposed to SAVE us money instead of costing more even though we were ordering less food. This puzzled us so we called our server over and explained the situation to her. What really surprised me was her reaction to it. Instead of being understanding and accepting that it was her mistake, she told us, the customers, that we were incorrect about our judgement. She then proceeded to hand us 3 dollars for her shortcomings and told us to pay the amount listed, instead of handing us a new receipt. I understand that she may have been in a rush but this is still no way to treat a customer. When we paid the bill, she snatched the receipt and handed it to us and held the same snappy attitude throughout. We obviously left no tip and will never ever go back to this Denny's again. I have never written a bad review before so this is a big sign that something should be done. This took about half an hour out of my vacation so I would really appreciate it if something could be done about this. I see this as no way for staff to treat the customers and I truly hope no one else has to go through this. I would rate this as a 0 star if I could. read more

I read a couple of the reviews and was still open to go. The waitress was really nice Since we got there. My fiancé and I ordered a spicy chicken skillet with toast. We enjoyed our food and the waitress was very attentive and asking if we needed anything. 9-10 recommendation! I am a teenager and this is great! I always hate how restraints don't allow you to order if you are older than 12 normally but here you can order any age! You might not care about how old you can be for food so let's talk about the service. The service is amazing! We had this one lady with blonde hair in a bun. I forgot her name but she was amazing! She was very nice and sweet. My favorite things to order: The Oreo milkshake is delicious! That is my favorite drink to order when I go to Denny's. Also of course I love the birthday pancakes. They are normal pancakes topped with some kind of fluff the taste amazing I think it might me marshmallow or something with sprinkles. The only bad thing is the area it is around two hotels near western and American inn. The hotels aren't the problem but it just isn't the prettiest place to eat. There are other places to eat by dennys on the river but they barley have any tables the menus are online which I do not like that much and not that good of service. Today at 2:00 we called in an order for pickup for 3 bacon burgers. The online had us pay with card so we did. It said order ready in 20 mins so we went to pick it up. Get there the host lady wouldn't even talk to us she said she had to go do something so holding cigarettes she went outside. cool seeing we already ordered and paid needed just to pick it up. I wasn't going to wait 1 mins for her cigarette break so I went and told the busser we already ordered and paid online we need to pick up our order he tried to flag down waitress. Waitress was far to busy talking to two young gentlemen. After he told her we already paid she started walking over and went to her other table and asked if they needed anything. The lady at the table with multiple people even Hurd us say many times we already paid just need to pick up, said "go help them they just need to pick up". Waitress clearly wasn't impressed. She asked what we would like and I stated again we already paid we just need to pick up. She went and talked to the cook staff though the window for a good bit with our food sitting bagged on the counter by her. She brings our food. Thankfully I checked and it was wrong We only ordered 3 single burgers 1 bacon cheese burger with frys 1 bacon cheese burger extra cheese and with season frys 1 bacon cheese burger with season frys What we got was the first two correct but a third completely different burger it had jalapenos and some weird sauce. Sunday morning is always busy, I totally get that. I expected a wait time and that isn't an issue. The reason I'm leaving a 2 star review is because the hosts had no idea what they were doing. There were three people all switching out and keeping a chicken scratch wait list, completely unorganized. They were skipping over people and adding parties at random regardless of when they arrived. I didn't realize we'd been skipped until I saw someone who had arrived 20 minutes after us was seated. Our wait time was quoted at 30 minutes and we waited about an hour. It was just OK... I ordered the double cheeseburger with fries and it arrived at my table in about 20 minutes. I can say that they didn't skimp on the quantity as there was plenty of burger in those two burgers and lots of fries however it's the quality that got them 3 stars. The burgers are just fried, not grilled and they were also very greasy which both of these things really take away from the flavor. Along with this, the bathrooms where in horrible shape but I guess for a busy city like Wisconsin Dells, they can only do so much to keep up after the customers? I still feel like they could do more like check the bathrooms every few hours and clean if necessary! read more

Reviews like this I feel fully justified in writing as I hold the management of such establishments directly responsible. On Saturday, we detoured to grab a quick bite to eat and after seeing Denny's, we assumed we could expect a decent breakfast and some coffee. Firstly, our waitress was the best part of the visit. As I sat, watched, and listened to her interact with other customers, it was clear she was someone who liked people and enjoyed doing her job. So kudos on a good hire Denny's. The food we received was fine, I had the meat lovers omelet and my wife a skillet. A little light on the ingredients but edible. The coffee...GOD awful and weak. One cup tasted as bad the previous. Coffee....if you can't get that right you probably are not getting a lot of other things right. I excused myself to go to the lavatory, and that is where the train jumped the rails. I broke one of my cardinal rules about dinning out. I always visit the lavatory (bathroom) to see how clean it is. In this case, the place smelled terrible, the floors were filthy and unattended. Next to the kitchen the bathroom is the MOST important place to keep clean. To anyone reading this make this a regular practice and do not eat in restaurants where the bathrooms are basically out houses with running water. For management reading this...your lack of attention to this speaks volumes about why your coffee is bad and... why as we were finishing our food, I heard and saw a girl looking into her food. She called her friends attention to her concern, and together they pulled..and pulled...and pulled hair(s) out of their sandwich. That pretty much sealed the deal for me, I left a cash tip and we gathered up our things and left (paying of course). 1. Watered down, burnt tasting coffee = no one paying attention or monitoring the quality. 2. Unclean restroom facilities = no one paying attention of monitoring quality and safety 3. Hair in customers food = no one paying attention and monitoring food prep and quality Denny's normally is very reliable and a good place to grab a satisfying meal on the go. So I am not flaming the Denny's brand of restaurants. However, this particular one needs to be called out. Don't be so desperate to eat that you subject yourself unknowingly to a place that may not have your health and best interests at heart. If they will cut corners on the aforementioned three points, then what else are they possibly cutting corners on? Food storage? Ingredients? Temperature of dish washers cleaning the silverware? I hope someone from Denny's reads this and decides to look into this restaurant. Denny's is a great brand and this restaurant does not live up to its historic reputation. read more

Sunday's are VERY busy here, however we only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. Our waitress was really nice and attentive even though another waitress took one of my friends food that was ready to be taken out and brought it to one of their tables. That's really shady. Felt bad for our waitress. The food was good, great portions and the price was decent. I like the "retro" feel of this diner.
