Sometimes, an experience is so special it is life saving. Thus I post this review prose poetry format. To the AM Denny's staff at Wichita Falls. Thank you for saving my life. You did more than you realize and I hope this poem and these pictures paints how you made me feel. Thx: ACT II -- THE PARTHENON OF WICHITA FALLS Cynthia-- Not all Denny's are created equal. That's something the coastal elites will never understand. In the Bay Area, Denny's is a punchline. A fluorescent graveyard of bad decisions and worse coffee. But out here-- in the long, flat silence between Oklahoma City and whatever comes next-- a Denny's at 5:30 in the morning isn't a joke. It's a sanctuary. We pulled in under a sky that hadn't decided whether it was done being night. The parking lot was nearly empty-- just a few cars scattered like survivors of some quiet, unspoken ordeal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside, the light was soft. Not the harsh interrogation glow you expect-- but something warmer. Forgiving[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We took a booth that looked out over the parking lot, and for a moment-- elevated just enough above the ground-- it felt like a temple. My own private Parthenon. Below us, the world was still assembling itself. Engines cooling. Daylight negotiating its terms. The kind of stillness that only exists before people remember who they're supposed to be. Our server appeared like she had always been there. Fresh-faced. Unrushed. Carrying a kind of calm that didn't intrude-- but gently replaced the fatigue we brought in with us. She didn't overwhelm. Didn't perform. Just...met us where we were. And that was enough. More than enough. We ordered like men trying to rebuild something: * An omelette--no cheese * Ham * Every vegetable available * Fruit instead of hash browns A negotiation between discipline and desire. Water arrived first. A tall glass. Cold. Necessary. Then orange juice--bright, almost aggressive in its optimism. Coffee--dark, steady, honest. And when the food came-- it wasn't just acceptable. It was...right. The vegetables were fresh. The fruit carried life. The eggs held together like they understood their purpose. Nothing was excessive. Nothing was lacking. It was exactly what we needed. At exactly the moment we needed it. The utensils were clean. The tables, spotless. The room itself carried a quiet pride-- like a place that knew its role and fulfilled it without needing recognition. And somewhere between the first bite and the last sip-- something shifted. The fatigue loosened its grip. The road ahead stopped feeling endless. And Friday the 13th-- a day built for bad omens-- felt, for a moment, like the luckiest morning we'd ever been given. We didn't say it out loud. Didn't need to. But as we stood to leave-- stepping back into the unfinished day-- there was an unspoken understanding: This place had held us together just long enough to keep going. read more

The night crew were such a joy to be around, they were very attentive, and friendly. Went there for the first time yesterday and I will for sure be back. My two roommates also agreed they enjoyed themselves and didnt expect to leave that satisfied with both the food and service for awhile. The manager Rachel was very attentive to all the tables. She was running the front till someone came in. She handled 10 tables all at once and never neglected our drinks or food. She made sure everything was running smooth and fast. This girl goes above and beyond her job. Kudos to her she deserves it. I frequent Dennys during the mornings, and go sometimes at night when I get off late.. the consideration for guests between day and night crew is wildly different. Kudos for the staff at Denny's today. Most reviews happen when things are perfect or horrible. Today, team Denny's apparently had a cook that didn't show up, the manager had a splint on her wrist and they had a restaurant full of customers. I watched one waitress fill in as a cook and do a great job, two waitress cover the restaurant all with minimal wait times and overall happy customers. I've been in the restaurant industry for 35 years myself and it's so nice to see professionals work together and do the best they can when the chips are down. There's few times I actually dislike the experience enough to write a review. When we got there they told us to sit wherever we wanted. It took a while for us to even get the waiter to take our drinks. When she eventually brought our drinks they tasted horrible I don't know what's up with the water in the restaurant and she said she would be back to take our food order so we waited... and waited. I saw her taking care of the tester of the customers constantly like bringing them drinks and such. We are Hispanic and I don't ever say we felt discriminated lightly but that is what we felt. She was taking care of her other customers and when I didn't see her I went to go look for her to see if she could take our order and saw she was just talking with the other worker as if she didn't have anyone waiting for her. First time ever in this Denny's, I haven't had a grand slam in a long time, but I got an email from Denny's for free breakfast on my birthday so I took advantage of it. Very disappointed... one server, too many customers. Another lady showed up late as we were leaving. Talk about ghetto!!! Had to ask for coffee refills. No steaks or salmon. First off the pancakes are great as usual. That's the good news. Now for the rest of the story. We were the only couple in the place at 4:45 on Saturday night. You would think we would have great service. Nope! My wife ordered a decaf coffee and she said they had to brew it. No problem. The problem was when she asked for creamer they were out and had to locate some. Her coffee was almost lukewarm by the time the found creamer. I asked for a coke and that came out right away but my refill came when she cleared away the dishes. By this time I am ready to leave. We were ready to leave and she brought around a refill of coffee. Very lousy service. Very disappointed! Won't be back EVER. read more

The Denny's restaurant chain is iconic for being open all the time and serving all kinds of customers. I love their food. When we were in the Wichita Falls area we stopped here for a late breakfast. As a matter of fact, I had a cheeseburger and my wife had pancakes and all of the sides. The restaurant really needs a remodel and the vinyl on every single seat is worn out, ripped, torn, faded, you understand where I'm going with this, right? Come in and relax and a hard-working waitress who may have had a terrible day will keep your coffee cup full and make sure you have everything you need for a great meal. Give her a couple extra bucks when you leave your tip. read more

We ordered breakfast. The eggs were cooked "exactly" as we ordered. The hash browns were crispy without being overcooked.

Excellent service and the food was very good. I sat by the front and noticed customers were greeted with a smile from a friendly staff.

Okay, I have eaten at this place many times as it is one of Mom's favorite breakfast joints, left a $20 tip on many of the visits, for the waitress who takes great care of us. Today was Completely different, we didn't go for breakfast like we usually do, so our waitress wasn't there. We got a different girl, who had an ear bud in as she was taking our order, while she was on the phone with someone, so she didn't get the order written down correctly and we got the wrong food. She dropped off the food and never came back. She sat at the side counter (still on her phone) eating chips and doing the silverware bags. First off - YUCK - don't eat and work!! But based off of the cup she gave me, I don't think she understands clean and cross contamination. Now take a look at the photos of my drinking glass next to Susie's, she has coke in a clean clear cup. My water is in grease coated nasty cup. I used my finger to rub a spot off (arrow points to the spot) Dave's cup was just as nasty, he scrapped the grease off with his finger. I couldn't ask for a new glass, the waitress never came back to the table. We ate half of the sandwiches and about a handful of fries, the ketchup bottle was empty as were the bottles on the adjacent tables, decided we just wanted to leave. Go the counter to get the bill, you know who was still munching on those chips and talking or facetiming with someone on that phone. Still talking to them while ringing up the bill. Poor service! We could have made burgers at home, but we enjoy getting out of the house and dining as a family. Today was just gross!! read more

What can you write about Denny's that we all don't already know? My expectations are never high when I go into a Denny's chain anywhere. It's diner food, frozen and reheated. Doesn't matter where you go. I have been visiting this location for 25 years. The first thing you'll notice if you have not been here in a while ... they fully remodeled the interior. It was needed badly and looks great now. They've removed the smoking area and the facility is 100% tobacco free. Yeah!! Wichita Falls city council finally pulled their heads out of their butts and set the city restaurants on a proper path. This time of year, Fall, is my favorite at this place and that means the Turkey & Dressing dinner is back on the menu for a couple months. It's nothing grand, I just happen to love the taste of this meal and will enjoy it while I can. The servers are always nice. Food is always as expected, and when it's not, they remedy the situation immediately. Birthday "Grand Slam" meals are free on your day! read more

3 Came here last week with my boys after pool time it was mid-day so it was pretty empty and customer service was good. Even though it was hardly no customers it wasn't that tidy. I ordered a burger it came out like I requested and the boys ordered pancakes and kids cheese burger meals. The lemonade was crazy sweet, I had to order a water and poor it in my glass to clam it down. Other than that it was good and they have a military discount just FYI. read more

Came in for a late dinner and happy they were there next to my hotel. Very convenient and you can't miss their sign. It took a long time to get seated but my server was very nice. The place was clean and they covered all the COVID protocols. I ordered the steak for dinner with mashed potatoes and corn. They also brought toast which was great. After driving for 5.5 hours through snow, rain, slushy snow, and super high winds. We were stoked to see a Denny's as we pulled into our hotel. After unloading we wanted to use the 20% off coupon the desk clerk gave us upon check in. We got online and were super happy to see the "Beyond Burger" option that other locations offered. We added grilled mushrooms, and grilled onions. Of course we got the seasoned fries. I'm just going to assume The kind woman who gave me my food was distracted by the phone call she was on to check my order. After sitting down and taking the first bite, I IMMEDIATELY noticed something wrong. My burger was soaked in mayo after requesting no sauce. I almost threw up running to the trash to spit my food out. Upon further inspection We noticed that the buns had butter on them, and the patty was BEEF!!!!! Yes GROSS DEAD ANIMAL FLESH!!! We have been vegan for over 8 years and I have NEVER had anything so disrespectful or disgusting happen to me. I was so offended at the blatant disregard to my heath and safety from this establishment. I go back to get a refund for the HUGE mistake only to be rudely informed by the obviously annoyed "night shift leader" that I had to call back after 1pm the next day ( after the breakfast rush) to speak to the actual manager who had to sit at a computer to process the refund. She also mentioned while throwing my receipt back at me that this location doesn't even carry "Beyond Beef". I was still able to order it, the cook printed the ticket, decided to proceed in making the complete wrong food, gave it to a hostess, who then verified the order, and still didn't catch the mistake. The next day we contacted cooperate to address the situation and received a very generic customer service response which almost made the situation worse. Later that evening we were contacted by this locations manager who was apologetic to the entire situation, and the HUGE lack of awareness his crew had. I would have much rather had my order cancelled. Hell they could have waited until I went to pick up the order to tell me they canceled it. But to put actual beef on the burger baffles me. I hope this location gets it together. I'm appalled. read more

I went to Dennys located at 1206 Central Freeway North on Tuesday the 2nd. I was greetid immediately by a server, he was very polite and pleasant. After he seated me he promptly brought my coffee and took my order. I ordered the All American slam with pancakes. My food was brought out by my server, Zachary, in 7 minutes. Impressive. I've been frequenting Denny's alot lately since being on the road 24-7. This one SUCKED. I ordered the BBQ chicken strips which are fried and then dipped in BBQ sauce. However the waitress put in the wrong order and I got Buffalo strips instead, she realized her mistake before she got to my table and instead of her or the cook making up a new batch they just dunked the already soaked in Buffalo Wing Sauce strips into ice cold barbecue sauce. And then brought them to my table. They were horrible, not to mention cold! I don't really care for Buffalo sauce and to then be subjected to eat that garbage was ridiculous. This really turned me off from Denny's in general. I don't think I will be back again anytime soon. And you better believe there was no tip left on that table. read more

I got into Wichita Falls really late and my husband and I really needed some food and fast. We walked in and the first thing we noticed was the cigarette smoke. They do have a "smoking" and "non-smoking" section but this is not closed off by a door. Not even a window. The smoke was hitting us in the face during our entire meal. Our waiter was extremely friendly and efficient. The food was good, we took most of it "to-go" because we couldn't help feeling as if we were in the process of developing lung cancer. Price was great for pretty good breakfast food, but we will not be returning. There are a bunch of creepy regulars who hang out here, smoke three packs and then stare at you the entire time.
