Everything about our experience was strange. Our original server said he was handing us off because his shift was over. And in the very long wait between ordering and getting our meal, suddenly the first server pops up again and is cheerily waiting on a table next to us. Huh. Was it something we said? Our server was sweet but overwhelmed by her two or three tables and kept forgetting things (straw, ketchup, side of mayo). It took 90 minutes to get back on the road following our forgettable meal.

The waiter was great, nice, and supportive but we had to wait over two hours for our food, and the table next to us which got here half an hour after us got the exact same order we've been waiting for way before we did. Again, the server was amazing very nice and repeatedly checked on our food to make sure everything was OK, but I have no idea what was happening in the kitchen because it took way too long and we considered multiple times going to a different restaurant at the point. I am making this right now we are still making the choice whether to leave or not I am currently watching all of my friends and their family eat their food while me and my friend who ordered the same thing, the same dish, the same dreaded mac & cheese, and Brisket are not being fed. I feel as though this dish is cursed and it seemed delicious on the menu, but I feel like you should not order it for obvious reasons. They also barely gave us any brisket with it when we got it, it was overcooked, oh, and the most important part they had to give us steak instead of brisket. Also, there's barely any mac & cheese in the pan it's like an inch deep with barely any surface area which means that it's gonna cool a lot faster.

Looks like Denny's has changed their dining room into a rustic saloon look. We were a little surprised that it wasn't crowded and but it could be that we came in around the noon hour, we got up late and wanted breakfast, plus Denny's was real close to our hotel. I liked the fact that they decorated the front near the hostess counter to a Christmas theme. Their Christmas tree was beautiful. We ordered our food and I believe the waitress must have gotten busy because we never received our extra napkins or she never checked to see if we needed any refills.

The service itself was pretty good. The server was quick to seat us and get our drink order as well as checking back in with us to get our food order. However the food was terrible. My wife ordered the bourbon bacon burger and when she got it the meat was dripping with grease. Her Mac and cheese side was a little crispy and the cheese tasted weird like it was spoiled. My cousin got the lasagna and the picture tells it all! They way over cooked it to the point where the pasta itself was burnt and hard. It was so crispy he couldn't barely even eat much of it. However my choice was the lumberjack slam. I asked for over easy eggs and got over medium to where I could not even dip my toast in the yolk like you would with over easy. The ham was cooked a little too long to where it was hard as well as the bacon was burnt. My hash browns were a little under cooked and only a little crispy on the top. The restaurant itself looked pretty clean for the most part and the bathrooms looked clean as well. It was pretty quiet and a calming environment. The biggest issue was with the food itself.

We slept in late and came to Denny's because it was the closest place to our hotel that was still serving breakfast. The good is that our server Tara was great. The bad is that this place felt dirty, there were so many flies and a smell in the air that I quickly lost my appetite.

    THE SUPER BIRD®
    Larry G.

The SUPER BIRD® sandwiches were as good as any Denny's SUPER BIRD®. Expertly prepared, with perfectly browned toast and creamy melted cheese draped over deli sliced turkey and crispy bacon. The fries were perfectly rendered: crisp on the outside, and soft on the inside, but not too soft so as to be mushy. Very conveneintly located near the thruway, it makes for an excellent business lunch or a romantic getaway.

However, if there is a chance that Swifty's management may read this, along with fellow diners, it may be helpful for the future. The overall experience, food, and service was good. Clearly, this place and its 2 sister locations know how to be successful. But what we experienced could either be because a rogue chef or location manager is trying to cut corners - or - it could be the philosophy of the company to try and nickel-and-dime the customer to reduce costs and take advantage of those who won't notice. My boys and I ordered 20 wings to start, my oldest had a burger to follow, and my younger really wanted to focus on wings, so only ordered fries. I had the. Cheeseburger wrap with onion rings and coleslaw. Wings: crispy, tasty, and really good blue cheese. BUT...when they came to the table, the baskets looked light. So... WE COUNTED THEM. ONLY 17. My (as the menu clearly states) "half pound burger in a wrap" was probably 1/4 of a pound light. Wait til you see the photo. So, all the good service and reasonably good food was ruined by Swifty's trying to either take advantage of customers incrementally hundreds of times a day (order by order) - or - they have a location chef and manager who tolerate food leaving their kitchen that is not as advertised or up to the standard which allowed them to open 3 locations. It's one or the other. Will we be back? I don't know. We really wanted this to be great. We live in the Northwest Corner of CT, my son goes to college in Rochester, this location is literally (to the mile) half-way between. We make the trip weekly due to his athletics schedule. We wanted to be regulars. Will probably look elsewhere next time. 2 stars for the front of the house service. It was excellent. And the blue cheese dressing. It was fantastic. If you go - count your wings and make sure what the menu says is on your plate.

There is a counter to the left as you come in, followed by an unattractive cooler case with signs on it. In between is a bakery case that is small but had a nice selection when I was there. I ordered a cup of decaf and a small chocolate almond cupcake, for a price of $8. I declined the plastic box and sat down with the cupcake in an upholstered chair opposite the counter. I thought my coffee would be right up but it took many minutes. I almost left. The cupcake was small but good (fluffy cake, sugary frosting). Then I noticed the sign that said everything was gluten and dairy-free. Surprise! When the coffee was ready, the cream was put in for me. I guess it was nondairy. The coffee was warm like a keurig makes. I had noticed Lunch menus in a wall pocket and Brunch menus behind the counter. So this place is actually full restaurant for people with gluten and dairy allergies. The lunches all seemed to cost ~$18 and seemed inventive. Fries were available as a specialty. There were a lot of tables in the long, cool, dark room. It seemed like a decent place to have an undisturbed meal while talking with friends.

Once we were seated, no waitress came to greet us until after 15 minutes when my party member got up to tell someone that no one had come yet. There was no non-alcholic drink menu, not even a section on the food menu. We ordered the Toasted Ravioli to share, and I got the Fried Haddock. The ravioli was good but the haddock was a bit dry. Not unbearably so but enough that I definitely noticed. When the check came and I was given the receipt to sign, they didn't include a pen so once again we had to stand up to get someone's attention. Everything was reasonably priced, and would have been worth it if the service hadn't been so lacking. I won't be in a rush to return.

The café is located right next to Nancy Ford Photography. It can be a bit difficult to spot due to limited visibility, but parking itself is not an issue. There are shared slanted parking spots in front with neighboring businesses, as well as additional parking available behind the restaurant, which is convenient once you know it is there. The interior is hip, bright, and welcoming. Seating is somewhat limited, but despite that, we were always able to find a place to sit without having to wait. The space feels modern and casual, suitable for a relaxed breakfast or brunch. The food was good overall and service was fast. We ordered the Pancake Board, Spin Art, and a veggie omelette. The Spin Art was my favorite. It was soft, flavorful, and melted in the mouth. The Pancake Board was extremely well executed and fun to share, and the veggie omelette was solid. Coffee, however, was not their strongest item. One nice touch is that water is free and self-serve, which is always appreciated. It can get crowded inside on Saturdays, and since there is no outdoor seating, the moderate ambient noise from other customers makes it less ideal for long conversations or quiet chats. Doug, the owner, was friendly and genuinely eager to help when I had an issue using my $5 off "cupcake points." Although he was not able to resolve it immediately, he did eventually figure it out, so I will be using the coupon on my next visit. Overall, this is a solid local spot with good food, efficient service, and a welcoming vibe. Recommended, especially if you plan ahead for peak weekend hours. Keep up the good work, Knead to Eat Bakery & Cafe.
