Denny's is pretty consistent on the food they serve and how they prepare it. Service is usually good. Their prices on their main menu are about the same as every other restaurant. I'm a breakfast customer so my criticism is in that area. The bacon Denny's uses is poor and always has been. I've asked many a server why a national chain like Denny's would use such tiny pieces of bacon and no one knows. If you want a ham and egg breakfast it's not on the menu. You have to ask the server to out one together for you and the price will vary from server to server. The link sausage tastes good but is usually room temp. If you want it served warm you have to request it be well done. If you like pancakes and eggs with two pieces of their bacon the Everyday Value Menu has the best price in town for that pancake combo. The other items on the regular menu are decent but pricey. The atmosphere is good. The coffee is very good. read more

Food is good. No complaints there at all. Server was either distracted or did not really care. No eye contact, dropped our food off at our table and walked off. No knife, no napkins. Had to actually get up to find her for said items because she never came back to check on us. Brought our check, no eye contact. No thanks for stopping by just walked off. I started questioning if we just weren't the kind of people she did not want to talk to because I definitely know it was not because they were busy. No one was there but us. Another great experience at the Shelton Denny's! Our server Amy was very friendly, efficient and professional. Every item we ordered was perfect. The huge Bourbon Bacon Burger was juicy and fabulous. The onion rings perfect. And the Green Smoothie was sweet and refreshing and the Strawberry Pancake Puppies were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Its Denny's, but its Shelton Denny's, so you have start with a lower bar. 15 minutes to get seated in an empty restaurant. Ordered food, got food, not exactly as ordered. No salt/pepper. No napkins. I asked for over medium eggs, I got one hard cooked, one over easy and half of what should have been the 3rd egg. Bacon was a shadow of bacon, and sausage was apparently the Vienna style. I went on a late night search for some good food after just getting home from work (swing shift) and went to dennys about half an hour before closing. I usually don't go places so close to their closing time but nothing else seemed good at the time. When I went in I decided to do a take out order so I'd be out of their hair and they were so friendly. They didn't mind that I came in so late and the food was delicious. My family and I had the worst experience today. The place was packed and under staffed. We waited forever to even be acknowledged and ended up seating ourselves, only because my grandmother has diabetes and needed to eat. When I asked for the manager he was NOT in the floor helping the staff but hiding in his office. When he spoke to me he was EXTREMELY rude and basically told me I just needed to deal with it. Every time me and my boyfriend come here, the food and service is always good. Last night we went in at about 11pm to get some late dinner, and they told us they didn't have a cook, but could serve us salad or ice cream??? The diner was empty all but a few people and some servers, but I guess they didn't have anyone to cook. Kinda weird when they're open 24 hours. I wonder what happened. Every time I went here last year it was amazing! I went last night and service was terrible along with the food. We got our hashbrowns "smothered" in gravy. Smothered means a teaspoon. My husband asked for hard boiled eggs. They came out 20 minutes after we got the rest of our food oh and apparently you have to peel the shell off yourself lol. staffs ego was in the way of their performance. The shift lead (i think) was disrespectful towards her waitresses and her cooks. Degrading all of them in front of a house decently full of guests. At the Wallace- Kneeland exit I arrive late to the Super8, and leave early for my business around the area. Denny's is open 24-7, generally has good service and serves excellent breakfast Slams. The service at our Dennys (in Shelton is cheerful and always helpful. The manager keeps a steady eye on things. The staff here are cordial but don't waste time. On occasion, our manager has had to step in, to deflect an argument, or satisfy a customer. We eat there at least three times a week. read more

We have lived in Shelton 4 years now and the first visit was bad experience. But I thought let's give it another try since it's been so long. My son, husband and I ordered simple two coffees and an apple juice and three grand slams two with pancakes one French toast. Long story short there was a surprisingly large portion of uncooked batter in the center of both my husbands pancakes. They were inedible. When I took a big gulp of coffee there was yellow and brown food stuck to the inside of my cup. Eww I know, too late, I already swallowed the coffee. My sons apple juice came to in a glass with we don't know what around the rim. The wait was 40 minutes plus an additional 20 for the pancakes. It was really cold inside I was shivering while I ate my cold bacon and sausage. My eggs were good but they weren't even warm. My pancakes were warm when they came out and my sons French toast was just regular bread with powdered sugar on top. Yeah they did take the price of a meal off the bill but the time and unpleasantness isn't worth repeating. We will get exactly what we want in a breakfast platter at McDonalds and have a better experience for the same price but with warm and tastier food. At least at McDonald's we will get a hash brown and biscuits with our pancakes and eggs. read more

Service looked great for the two tables on either side of me - the waitress checked up on them, refilled water, one table even got served before me even though I got there before they did. They looked like they had wonderful service! But even though I was between those two tables, I didn't get that stellar service I saw others get. My water was never refilled since it was empty before I got my food (the server even walked by my table to refill the table next to me!). I was never checked up on. I never got a check even though the table who got there after I did received a check. I paid and then asked if the table who got there after me was served before me. The waitress said "I'm pretty sure he was the last person I served". It was a simple question and what I got was a very simple lie. So I asked for a manager. I told the manager everything and she did not seem like she cared. She unapologetically said I'll talk to her by the end of her shift about it and make sure she checks on all of her tables". Then she oddly asks me, "did you pay with cash or a card?" I said card and still don't know why she asked me that. Very weird ending with the manager. Neglectful service and management who doesn't seem to care. I've seen a skeleton crew of 3 give 10x better service and care more about their many more customers than this location did with fewer tables yet multiple people in the kitchen and at least two on the floor. read more

I'm not a big fan of Denny's anymore, they have seriously gone downhill. The first time we ate here, it was a prom night or something so they were a little busy. Part of our order was left in the fryer too long, then sat under the warmers for almost our entire meal time, it took that long for our server to come check on us. The second time, I thought they were closed, there were NO cars in the parking lot. We had good service, but the food isn't that great. Good for a quick breakfast while we were camping... Standard Denny's fare. But the customer service really sets this place apart from most Denny's I've been too. I do have to say that the building maintenance needs a bit more effort put into it. Denny's has stepped up is game over the years! The food is decent, the coffee is great and the customer service has been super stellar the last few times. All the wait staff have been genuinely happy during their shifts. One person clocked in just as I was leaving and the busted out with the good morning song from Singin' in the Rain. My friend and I started going here a couple pears ago later at night for coffee. The service was good and we were taken care of. However over time service has gotten worse. The employees there are great, but they don't have enough staff to take care of everyone. I used to enjoy the steak, zucchini cheddar potatoes and garlic toast. However the last two visits the potatoes were cold, the zucchini was under cooked. I had said I was never going back. This is the only place in Shelton for coffee at night, so after a couple months I gave it a try last night. We got one cup of coffee, then waited and waited.
