This Lady, I believe her name is Cheryl, yelled at a poor hostess, Diana was her name. I visit every weekend since I've moved to Orange, btw. The hostess was just doing her job and this woman turns to the hostess who was waiting on it to get busy and goes "Hey, you can be sitting here unless you make 2.13/hr, yk the waitresses". I think that's some bs, and today when I visited, as usual, that same hostess got pulled outside by the male manager, and lectured. I've noticed for a while that this hostess gets mistreated a lot, and today. I notice Cheryl is always yelling at the hostess. The hostess came from the kitchen area, and was missing her name tag and in tears, I wish that old woman would be nicer or go to another establishment. Although we live right down the road, we'd never eaten breakfast at Lenny's . The place could use a good spruce. It's tattered and worn, but who knows how long they've operated 24/7 in this building? I ordered the Fit Scramble, and Mike ordered some obnoxiously large plate. I think there may have been lumberjacks involved. The Fit Scramble was good, but the egg whites had a weird texture. They ROCKED the turkey bacon, though! I loved the tomatoes and spinach, too. It was more than I care to eat at one sitting so I took the rest home. Still, eggs had a weird texture. Mike absolutely destroyed his Lumberjack Slam, he loved everything. I tasted a bit of his pancakes and it tasted like cake mix to me. This location was clean, the service was fast and my custom ordered breakfast grand slam with Turkey bacon hit the spot and prepared me to continue my journey on I-10. This is probably the best sit down dining option in this area if you need a quick meal and a break from driving on the interstates.. I will give 1 for the waitress who was working her tail off and also having to tell us that they were out of pretty much everything on the menu (totally out of ANYONES control) I completely understood so we ordered alternate menu items. The food arrives! Cold toast with no butter, raw bacon, nachos with no sour cream. Out of sour cream so completely understood. Raw bacon on one end and burnt on the other! Send the bacon back and a minute later they bring it back completely burnt on one end but cooked on the other. Asked the waitress if I could have fresh bacon and she brought me back a plate of completely burnt bacon (see pic). Flash forward asked to speak to the manager (Maudie) After about 5 minutes the poor waitress apologized that the manager is on the phone but should be out soon. Denny's down at Orange Texas. located inside the Flying J off of interstate-10 approximately 5 minutes from the Louisiana state line.. or a hundred miles east of Houston Texas. This older Flying J definitely shows its age inside the Denny's though got an upgrade and remodel. it now looks like most of your Denny's located inside a Flying J and Pilot truck stops the wooden floor the carpet threadbare is it was all gone. Walkin in I was pretty impressed with how clean it was I have not been to this one since they remodeled it because usually I go to the other side of the interstate to the pilot and have Subway.. so this review will not be about the J but just about Denny's. I came in knowing what I wanted so I didn't need the menu. I wanted another waffle slam. instead of pancakes it is a nice malted Belgian waffle with two eggs and four pieces of meat.. and because I'm going to be going to sleep cuz I got up at some god-awful hour I wanted decaf coffee. so into the truck stop I want off the Denny's at once I was promptly greeted and seated which is always a good thing I didn't have to wait. directions to remodel though I looked around I noticed one thing that's different they don't have many plugins other than up with the liars counter with plug outlet underneath the ones in there the booths were not working. they also do not have after the remodel the freestyle Coke machine it's just the old fashioned Coke machine. but the appearance of all the waitresses in the waiter were very well presentable the place wasn't a pigsty tables were all wiped off which is a good thing sometimes that tends to be a problem nothing like sitting around by a dirty table especially in the summertime in the South and flies are everywhere. wasn't anything going on which was a nice thing. Weeeeelll Then I proceeded to order my waffle slam and I was brought out a very dismal lifeless waffle...loool I voiced my concern and they said well if you enjoy your soft scrambled eggs and your sausage will bring out another fresh waffle okay well out came another dismal lifeless waffle..Hmmm. two people made the waffle in the kitchen. he came out and showed me said I even made one and it's a dismal. if you don't mind waiting 10 or 15 minutes I will make you a fresh one but I have to make fresh batter..yes gang that's what happened the morning prep did not do it right they put too much water in and it did not have good consistency once in the waffle iron..Denny's is of course is known for their pancakes.. so still not to be known for their waffle but none the pancakes are still the forte or toast also. so they didn't sell a lot of Belgian waffles today so they didn't quite realize how bad the batter was from the prep cook that did it wrong. but hey it's all good because 15 minutes later after I read The National enquirer catching up on the real news, I found out that the next waffle batter was all done a whole batch was redone and the waffle came out looking like the waffle should!! Hurray! I was just happy to have the waffle I didn't pitch a fit or nothing but the funny thing was an act off 20% off the bill anyway just for waiting but I walked out quite satisfied and I'll definitely come back to this one again when I'm rolling across Interstate 10 down in Southeast Texas.. so all in all the remodel and the staff at this one is definitely good the Flying J however in the store and everything else well that's a different story for a different day. read more

When visiting in-laws in Orange, theres just not a lot of green, healthy options for this Austin girl. Usually we find ourselves eating pizza or big-as-yo-face chicken fried steak or Walmart fried chicken at 9 o'clock at nite. And for breakfast we hit up the Denny's. sigh Well, imagine my surprise upon opening the menu to see that gorgeous green dish I have photographed. The Green Machine Skillet: chicken sausage, eggs, broccoli, spinach, potatoes and avocado. While most everyone else ordered their Rooty Tooty Grand Slam Alakazoo calorie bomb, I was soooo very happy with my Green Machne. While their hearts were slowing down, mine was leaping for joy. The staff here has always been prompt and courteous to our sometimes large family group, coffee's hot if that's ur thing, and food really decent. Never thought I'd say this, but I'll look forward to eating at Denny's when next I'm in Orange. read more

Oh. Denny's at this location is ok. The closest Denny's to me by far. But, let me tell you, if there was another one even 20 minutes further away, I would go to that one every time. I don't know what got into the manager's head, but he is one of the rudest people I have ever come across. A friend and me usually come here a few times a month because it is the ONLY Denny's close by. We would come here way more often if the manager would retire or just not be there. When we go; if we see him working, we leave. He's a short, small balding middle eastern looking man. When a male friend of mine and I would eat here, the manager was super friendly and accommodating to us. But now? No. I'm convinced it's because he prefers male customers to females. I've noticed that on the occasions that we actually stayed, he will pander to the larger tables and the ones where only men are seated. It's weird and kind of creepy. He jokes around with the males because I'm assuming that he thinks men are more important than females. He did that with my male companion in the past. He smiled and asked us how we are doing and how is every thing. I've always thought he was a nice guy until I started coming with my best friend. We both are widows and go out to eat often. My male friend is living in another town and we hardly see each other. I also have come here with my other friend and her husband. They seem to treat us better when a male accompanies is. Like I said, it's weird. The servers are always pretty nice. But there are a couple of them that copped an attitude when we asked for extra napkins or had an issue because what we ordered wasn't what we received. Funny that those people weren't working when we returned. This is the first time I have left a review anywhere on Denny's in Orange, Texas. If it improves I will edit. The food is delicious, but I also love breakfast food. I love the caramel pancakes, the mozzarella sticks, the milkshakes, the mango smoothie, and pretty much everything that I have tried. I have always gone at night when there were less people, so the food usually came out quickly. It's a fairly quiet place, which was ideal, and the servers are nice. I also love how it's 24/7, great for a restless night owl like me. read more

We have been stopping at the Flying J in Orange, TX just off I-10 for many. It has become a tradition that after a long trip coming back home (just 2 more hours west to go) that we stop to enjoy a nice meal and rest a bit. The food and service are usually good, which they were this past Saturday evening, and that is the reason we awarded 2 stars to the Denny's inside the Flying J. Our complete experience was ruined by a completely rude, inhospitable, obnoxious, jackass, Middle Eastern, older man who I took to be a member of management or ownership. He was our cashier and could not have possibly been more unpleasant. It took me 8-10 minutes just to get a receipt after he told me I couldn't have one. If you see him, just turn around and don't even bother eating there. It isn't worth the aggravation. read more

So, 45 minutes with a hungry 7 year old and two pissed off in-laws can seem like an eternity. We had a party of six and a party of seven was sat shortly after us. They ordered after us and received there order well before us. Three of the orders were incorrect. Two of which were missing bacon on sandwiches and one missing bacon on my sons rudolf pancakes. Bacon was brought out 10 minutes later for the two sandwiches. Both waitress and manager wanted to argue about seating time and when order was placed. We have time stamped text messages. Manager wanted to charge for the "extra" bacon that was missing and the waitress said he was going to discount the ticket.
