We arrived at a Friday night at 6:15 PM as people are being turned away because they did not have reservations. We were seated quickly and our wonderful server, Melina, greeted us with a big smile and brought us waters. She was terrific and helped us choose the prime rib sliders with the mushroom risotto and I had the walleye with the cauliflower smash. He also ordered two side Caesar salads, which were fresh and delicious. Our service was excellent, and the food was delicious. We were very happy with our decision to come here. So much so that we made reservations for the next night as we were leaving the restaurant. The second night we had Samantha and she was equally a terrific server. It's some of the best customer service we've had with these two ladies. I love the cauliflower mash, and wish I could figure out how to make it! But aside from that, she was friendly, helpful, and kind. Atmosphere is on the dark side. There are two screens to play games (golf, etc) on two corners of the building. I think there are plenty of options, but we were mainly in for food, and didn't really get much info on the games. I did ask whether they were run on a reservation basis, and the hostess (who was also our server) said yes. She didn't mention any pricing, so I'm not sure what the details on that is. Margarita special $5 This was great. Not overly sweet, and just the right amount of booze. It came in a whiskey cup rather than a margarita one. 3sheep chaos pattern on draft Price for draft beer is not cheap, and the beer was great. The glass it came in was super clean, but also warm. I think it just came out of the dishwasher... So clean, but beer glasses should be cold on principle. Wings The description says these are baked, and then fried before tossed in their sauce. The sauce is yummy. The wings are a fairly large size. But I think they forgot to fry it. The skin on the wings weren't at all crispy, but kinda mushy. The meat was well cooked, but also on the dry side. The celery sticks and carrot rings on the side were super fresh and crispy. Blind burger with side salad I ordered it done medium. It came out very well done. For a wagyu, it lacked fat content, and cooked for too long, so it was very dry. We had just hiked 4 hours at Devil's Lake and quite hungry, but I couldn't finish it. Seasoning was great though. And the side salad was also very fresh. Brussels sprouts Something I haven't done in the last 15 years... I had to ask them to redo it. It came out with underdone Brussels. Interestingly, after I asked them to heat it up more for me, it came out perfect, with the right amount of searing on all the cut sides. Overall, it feels like the kitchen was having a bad day and bad timing - wings needed to get in the fryer for longer, burger should've been out of the pan sooner, Brussels should've stayed in longer. For the prices I paid, I expect better food. Especially since the kitchen knows how to fix their stuff! It was like they put 70% into all the dishes until I spoke up. Would I go back? Nope. Not convinced that the 4.4 rating is justified for me.

A large slab of melted cheddar paired perfectly with a smoky chipotle aioli, which almost tasted like bacon. The reuben was also super unique- all of the flavors came together very well, and I loved the contrast of having refreshing kimchi to cut through the decadent Swiss and pastrami. The pasta salad was dangerously addictive and had the creamiest lemon Parmesan dressing. I thought the green beans were crunchy and well cooked, but didn't really taste any wasabi. We left full with leftovers, and felt that the value was great given the quality and quantity of the dishes. I would absolutely be back given the chance, and highly recommend paying a visit!

As a man of color, proud homosexual, and transgender woman, I am deeply offended with how I was treated. A group of colored brothers came in acting like hooligans, and thought jt humorous to point their mischief at the subject of my identity. I know that these young cats fall victim to the gang and thug life that has trapped my brothers (R.I.P Tayvion Cole) but their behavior that was facilitated by the employees here was unacceptable. Some of the faculty joined in their public shaming, or did nothing to stop it. Needless to say I left the establishment in tears never to return. I post this here to let the LGBTQIA+ community know that this is NOT a safe space and that any business from here on out should not be here. Let me tell you, if you go to any other Denny's here in Madison you WILL be disappointed!!! The Monona location is by far the best one there is. The server is amazing, I mean, Noel the manager is running a top level restaurant. My husband and I have been going there for years, we would even drive from Edgerton, WI which is about a 30 min drive when we wanted Denny's breakfast. I would recommend this location over and over again to anyone. The food is great, out of all of the years that we've been going, I've never once had to send my food back. Ask for something cooked a certain way and you get it that way. I could go on and on but I don't think I need to.
