Was offered 20% to give 5 stars.

Okay food, great service. The restaurant looks old and outdated, as if your grandparents designed it. Paid for coffee. Will not be returning. Do not believe all the reviews, I was offered 20% off to give a good review.

Used to be my favorite breakfast spot. Unfortunately over the last couple months , the quality has suffered. Orders not fulfilled as requested. Some food barely cooked at all. But the biggest issue is there bacon. Sometimes it edable but most of the yime it is way to salty to eat has now happened my last 3 orders. There wont be another.

Denny's should always be a staple after a night of drinking. If I could impart this wisdom on my 16 yr. old self I would have saved a considerable amount of agony and suffering. What separates Denny's from the herd isn't only cheap quality comfort food, but also the gimmicky special promos that they put on from time to time. I was fortunate enough to find myself at a Denny's in Kingston after a night on the town whilst they were running their "Baconalia! A Celebration of Bacon" campaign, which purports to remove bacon from its side dish stigma and put it front and center in 7 new mouth watering ways. I opted for a traditional clubhouse with seasoned fries, steering away from "Baconalia" but did enjoy the bacon they pile on their club. A friend once described bacon as "meat candy," a more appropriate analogy I cannot fathom. Kudos to Denny's for recognizing that we all need more bacon in our lives and for doing it up bacon style!

Worst nachos ever. Tasted like melted kraft singles on uncooked chips. Breakfast poutine was not crispy. How rude!

The place is a bit dated and could use some fresh updates to the decorating, but it was still charming, comfortable seating, had tv to watch...but was VERY hot inside. My trip to Kingston fell, of course, during that heat dome event...and I already HATE summer and hot weather. The temperature in the restaurant wasn't terrible but I was sweating. Turned out to be worth it. They have a full bar and Laura, my server, made me a pineapple mimosa on request. She looked to be handling the fairly busy place by herself with help from I believe the owner or manager. She handled everything very well and wasn't too busy to tell me Happy Birthday (I had on a shirt and she was one of the few people who did) and chat a bit and be friendly. I appreciated that. She was obviously very hot running inside and out to the patio tables, but she maintained her composure and worked very hard. I ordered the breakfast poutine and they added the pulled pork to it when I asked. I also got a side of the baked beans. The fries were very fresh, crispy and tender. There were scrambled eggs, fresh crumbled bacon, cheese sauce and that glorious pulled pork on top. I really enjoyed this dish. Great idea, breakfast poutine! While eating I got to speak the owner (I believe she was). She was from Arizona so we are both dual citizens. We had a good talk about Dump decimating the US. The owner is a very liberal, accepting, kind person. Makes you feel good to support businesses run by compassionate people. The service was great. Food was phenomenal. Yes, the beans were so tasty too. Kind staff. Cute decor. I am returning to Kingston in October and will definitely be stopping in at Tommy's again. Fantastic diner food!

Again, the 5* review is relative to surrounding alternatives for Williamsville/sunnyside locals- it's either the old diner, or subway egg salad sandwich, or some simple but refreshing breakfast lunch and cute pastries. No brainer. The place is hidden in a building where medical clinics are, I found this place out when I was getting tested for STDs- nuff said. Which leads to my initial surprise- from outside and the location on princess I assumed it was another old place run by a hairy guy in greasy cloth and the lights don't work, but it's not. It's clean, airy, modern. Second the pricing is good- decent amount of food for the money, and pay at the counter, tip if you would. Food is on the light side, with some Asian influence reminding me of Taiwanese tea shop menus- although it's not. It's a bit in between, but you can definitely see something you won't find in a greasy spoon restaurant on their daily featured lunch. I'm on a coffee detox so regrettably I cannot review their coffee items yet. Another plus is free WiFi The downside and probably why it took me a year to find this place although I live close by- they are not open on Sat and Sun! Closes early mon - fri as well. This is a bit odd. Again- if I take this place out of the context of this depressing part of kingston, I would've given it a 4 star maximum. But I think locals will find this place a much appreciated alternative to the smelly Tim Hortons down the street or walking thirty minutes for the next failure.

OK, this is a mixed review…read more First to start off, the service was great. The ambience is somewhat dated but elegant. The new patio looks great, but you can't see the river from the dining room now.. Now the food: My friend had the steak and he was very happy with it. Although he said, it was a little more rare than he would've liked. But otherwise, it was very good. Our other guest had the special, which was the salmon. And they were very happy with it. My dish unfortunately it was not so great. I had the pan-fried Seabass. As soon as it was brought to me, the first thing I noticed was a plate of nothing but brown colors. The fish is filleted with the skin left on. (which I would preferred it not to have been.), but layered on top of pearl couscous. Which was supposed to have feta. But somehow they substitute it with goat cheese, which was horrible. Because if you don't like goat cheese, it just makes everything taste awful. But there was no color to this dish. The Seabass was overcooked. It had a consistency more like trout. I've never had this type of Seabass before, so maybe I was expecting a Chilean Seabass? But it was very thin and there was not a lot of substance to it. The waiter was great and he did bring me some new couscous without the goat cheese. But by that time I had eaten my dinner. Now Desert: the kitchen really needs to let their weight staff know when they run out of things because our server had to come back to our table 3 times saying that they were "out of that." my friend friend had the peach sorbet, which he said was very good. The caramel pudding was excellent. I had the flan, honey and lavender. I really didn't taste any lavender. It just tasted like custard to me. My friend's family has been coming here for years. So hopefully next time I will get a better dish. It just seemed to me like the sous chef was in the kitchen tonight and not the chef.

We love good food at cool places just like any of our demographic (which we'll gladly pay for) and we were unexpectedly impressed. The room is not beautiful but there's a comfortable feel and a lovely water view. The menu and specials offer a few gems for the more adventurous and it is a feast of local goodness for locavores. I had the lamb carpaccio and the trout fillet with spinach salad. Both were creative without compromising clean flavours. The husb had the Table d'hote which was a 4 course steal at $48: cream of mushroom soup, pulled pork arancini with black bean curry, pan-seared tilapia and choice of dessert, black forest semi freddo. All of it fabulous with bursts of flavours. They have a long, reasonably priced wine list that covers new and old world and many Canadian options. The service is calm and doting and the piano player was a lovely throw back without being cheesy.

I know this place exists because of their generosity to Camp Outlook. They have absolutely 100% scrumptious bread! And baked goodies. I love their dinner buns. They are made in this pull-a-part style and absolutely delicious to accompany soup, or toasted with butter, or, Pb&J, or cheese. Almost anything really, you can't go wrong. I was in Kingston recently and really wanted those dinner buns, unfortunately they didn't have them. Not on Sunday, not on Monday. I settled for their mini olive and rosemary dinner rolls. They were good too. Service here is pretty on point. There was a question I had asked the lady behind the counter and she came out from behind the counter to help answer any questions I had and serve me. She was really awesome! They have a catering menu, a cafe for brunch, they have fresh breads available and they do specialty cakes. They are totally the real deal. AND they sell Neal Brothers' cheese puffs. Havent been able to find these bad boys anywhere. They discontinued them in grocery retailers and health food stores don't seem to carry them. I'm in Toronto and havent been able to find them for a couple of years. They are a pretty penny, yet worth it for the sheer pleasure. Their store front is spacious and inviting. Certainly the place to be, everyone seemed to be walking in when I went. It is very well known. They can for sure accomodate a large amount of people. I would most definitely revisit when Im in the city next.

Ok, COVID doesn't help, as this is happening more frequently these days!!) Needing to recharge and regroup to figure out where we are going and make it to the hardware store, we were hungry and needed better sustenance than is usually provided in a coffee shop. After looking around a bit, we ended up on Kingston's Princess street, and chose to try this place out. First of all, it's deceiving from the outside: it looks way smaller than it really is, like a bakery outlet with a reasonable variety of baked goods on offer. However, there's a back portion where customers can eat in the store. Being that we're still getting used to the "new normal", we weren't ready to dine in, and wanted a seat outside. **Note: to get a seat on the patio, you actually have to go outside to find the hostess and request a table. It was a Sunday afternoon, and they were doing a booming business! But the wait was not long. We had a hard time choosing from the menu; there are a LOT of options! I was expecting a beautiful bakery selection but it was more sandwiches and other unusual, eclectic meals. We eventually chose a burger for hubby, and a shrimp sandwich for me, with a regular coffee for him and Café au lait for me. The Café was great, and even came with a wafer cookie. The wait was not long for our meals. OK, to be honest, I was not expecting to have my sinuses cleared out while I ate, but the food was so spicy to me, also with an after bite, that I was blowing my nose throughout the meal! Not a good look during COVID (sad face!) Worse, I picked up the great big sandwich to take a bite and a shrimp rolled off the top and fell to the ground! Very sad! These shrimps were lightly breaded and quite tasty! No wonder they gave me a fork and knife! Note to self: use cutlery! Here's the great part: one of the servers, went over and above, beyond the call of duty, and got me another shrimp!! It was so prettily laid out on a lettuce leaf, and quite hot - so fresh! Kudos for that!! I will have to bear this experience in mind for next time we visit Kingston, when we are looking for somewhere different to eat.
