First off this is a truck stop. Trucks are expected to operate 24/7. The driver need a place to eat. These big company shit holes bring in shit holes like Denny's that can't stay open past 7:30pm when their hours say 8:00pm. This could quite possibly be the worst Danny's I've ever been to. It was after church so we expected a wait. After telling us that we would have to wait before he could even talk to us about a seat, it took him about 10 minutes of running around like a chicken with his head cut off to seat a family of six. Clearly he was in over his head. The problem is there couldn't have been more than 25 customers in the entire restaurant. In fact at one point I commented that there were more waitresses standing around than there were tables with customers. He then came back and said it would be another 15 minutes before he could seat us because the kitchen was backed up...so we couldn't sit at one of the 20 open tables and at least have coffee! Worst service that we have had, was seated and had to wait 10 mins to get asked for drinks. Three other customers were seated after we got there and were attended quick . Their food was also there within 15mins while we were still waiting for our orders to be taken. I don't bring race into anything but it's hard to not notice such service we were given while the other three customers who were white, were treated quicker. To say it was slow is an understatement. The hostess did tell us there was only one waitress working. We gave our order and waited approximately 45 minutes for the food. I ordered the original grand slam with instructions to make sure the eggs were well done. No running or giggling. The yellow and white completely done. When the food came out I went to cut my eggs and one yellow was runny. With as long as it took to get the food you would have thought they could cook the eggs the way I ordered. Oh well. Denny's is a Great place. Some locations are awful. This one is at a truck stop. It's great because the ceilings are vaulted and you feel less claustrophobic. The service is great, for what it is. If you're a coffee drinker, they have a mild and dark roast. The coffees always fresh and well brewed. If you sit at the counter you can watch tv while you eat. I say "well I ordered and paid online so I kinda expected it to be at least in preparation when I got here." Was told it'd be about 10 mins. Will follow up later. I'm local to this area and work late nights, early mornings and have dealt with this place numerous times over a 20 year span and I can assure anyone planning to stop here, "don't". I recently tried THIS Denny's AGAIN, after I received food poisoning the first time I dined at this location... Thinking it was a fluke... It WAS NOT! The Service is STILL HORRIBLE, our food was cold, the fries tasted like bad puff pastry with no flavor to be had... So Instead of paying 16 Dollars and some Change, we ended up paying almost 20... I was PISSED because she acted like she EXPECTED a TIP... MY girlfriend, being the nice person that she is, ACTUALLY GAVE HER ONE... So we ended up paying a total of 23.00 for LOUSY SERVICE! Why is it so hard to get a good burger and Fries?!? I went for the birthday special, my experience was horrible from when I first stepped in the building I waited to be seated , Paula the server was standing a few feet away from us cleaning up, only one family was in the reasturaunt but she didn't even say hello, rather waited until the other server got done with the family to come and seat us, she told the other girl that she was busy and didn't feel like taking any more tables, the other girl seated us, but didn't ask what we wanted to drink or tell us her name instead told us she had to go get the family's food (mind you the only other people in the entire place), so after about 10 minutes of me staring Paula down she finally came and asked what we wanted to drink , I told her it was my birthday and I wanted the special to which she replied we don't do that anymore without an online coupon, then proceeded to go ask the manager if it was okay just this once. She came back with the worst attitude was rolling her eyes and rushing me and my girlfriend to order like rude as ever ! I'm a calm and understanding guy but she really did a horrible job taking our order, on my birthday at that! Didn't even tell me happy birthday. After she walked off my girlfriend could see the emotions on my face and asked if I wanted to leave because the girl was ruining my birthday breakfast. I said yes and we left. The first time we waited over 50 minutes to get our food and this time we ordered a steak breakfast and wanted the steak medium rare and it was fully cooked. For the first breakfast we were told a cook didn't show up for work and that is why we waited so long. The GM of this restaurant needs to be fired immediately!!! I stop in there cause it's at the Flying J truck stop, but I swear I'd rather walk 1mile down the street. So I waited another 20 min. Meanwhile I noticed 5 people get up and walk out. Most haven't even received drinks. Some were seated when I walked in. Finally my pancakes arrive. I Got them 1st had to wait for the hash, sausage and eggs separately. Then got the eggs.... they were sunny side up and the yolks were busted!!! I sent them back. I asked for butter from 2 servers ,and then they get pulled away by another customers So I just said forget it. I cannot count how many times I've been in there for the dinner hour and they would be outta hamburgers,steaks,meatballs etc. out of all these items at the same time! The GM needs to order more food. He/she needs to train customer service skills. they need to work their own sections. I see servers running back and forth to other peoples tables because their server is missing! If I could give negative stars I would. I can not even rate the food as we were never even acknowledged after the hostess sat us in our booth. It was very late and my kids were tired and we needed to eat something as we had been on the road all day. She had no problem talking and waiting on two other tables but did not even come over to welcome us and ask for drinks. Much time passed and we got up and left as we knew the real reason why she did not serve us but did serve and acknowledge others. She also had the nerve to ask "Y'all ain't stayin' ", after we were already at the door. Of course we are not. Now there was a rather large bug that crept out of the menu right before we got up to leave. So, if that is what is produced at the front of the house, I will bet the kitchen is dirty as well. I lived in Europe for 6 years so I know how to be patient with restaurant service as they believe in slowing down to enjoy. However, I also know that Denny's is like any other restaurant in America, and on point, quick efficient and friendly service is expected and most of the time delivered (NOT HERE THOUGH) . What a great welcome back to America and the racism that goes with it! BTW, my family and I are Caucasian, the waitress was not and nor were the customers she did provide service and conversation to. Will never even contemplate eating or attempting to eat at one of these establishments ever again. Honestly, I guess I had been gone long enough for this type of behavior to be openly accepted. They were only nice to male tables. We had to yell at them to come back to us. They were on waiting on male tables. The waitress came to our table. We wanted more napkins and gave us towels. We ask for a credit for our coffee. They would not volunteer to give us refill. Brought us burned toast. And had to ask them to correct it.
