I don't discriminate with the new restaurant of the week which can literally be a food cart to a nice restaurant and a gift card didn't hurt also. To my surprise the interior was nice with old pictures of Dennys through out the years and modern looking. I was seated right away and my server was very friendly and offered to take my food back because she could see my only request for the kitchen that was so simple didn't happen but it's all good. I ordered the country fried steak with 2 eggs, hash browns extra crispy and wheat toast. It's a shame that restaurant country fried steak has shrunk to a happy meal size but is is what is. The plate looked great overall but I and my server instantly saw the hash browns were not extra crispy. The eggs were cooked perfect sunny side up. The wheat toast had whole grains and buttered while hot with melted butter, lots of breakfast places fail at this and if you read my reviews it's a pet peeve of mine of cold toast and cold butter that is useless. The hash browns were real shredded potatoes undercooked and had that raw potato texture but at least they were real and if extra crispy would be so much better. The country fried steak was hot with a crunchy batter and cooked to order, nice. Overall for a Dennys with low stars/reviews it was modern looking , clean looking , pleasant server and fresh hot cooked breakfast nets this location a 4 star. I would definitely try another location to see if my experience is the same. Like most reviewers I can't rip on this location because unlike lots of places my food was hot cooked to order.

The food hits the spot, however, the service knocks it down a notch. We were greeted to no one and had to wait while the workers loudly finished their conversation in back before seating us. Once we were seated, we we received good customer service until we asked for the check. They took so long that we had to flag down another waitress. She proceeded to tell us our actual waitress went on break and was at Wal-Mart across the street.

I just tried the pancakes last week, they tasted a lot like IHOP, not soggy (pet peeve).

Luckily the patio was open & it was great weather plus we had a 2 month old with us so could make it easier to step out. Prices are a little steep for an area like Franklin/Greendale. Probably a "nice occasion" dinner than a once a week dinner. Anything with some sort of protein is at minimum $21. I got the Fried Perch Dinner. My dad got the Prime Rib. My wife got the Tenderloin Sandwich. The Prime Rib was massive, not awfully fatty but I wouldn't pay $45 for it but that is also bc I am frugal. However, if it was a special occasion then I'd splurge for it. Dinners come with a salad or soup, bread, potato, & zucchini & squash. This is alone why I didn't get one of the salads & instead got the fried perch. This was definitely 5* to me. Cooked great, great portions, & I love zucchini. I just think the cost on the whole menu is where I dock the point. If you're okay with $26 to $30 on a dinner then this is an A+ spot with high class decor & interior. Heck, even the kid's grilled cheese looked SUPERB!!! They use the bread in the picture & we joked that we wouldn't mind ordering that when we saw a family order two of them.

We went on a Thursday night and still needed to wait 40 minutes for a table. I didn't expect that since this place is a bit off the main corridor. I had been here several times, but my last visit was probably 8-10 years ago. I always forget about it since, like I said, it's off the Hales Corners corridor of Hwy 100, and a little too far east on Janesville Rd from main Muskego corridor. The place hasn't changed a bit on the inside. Still a semi-formal interior with plenty of seating in both the dining room and bar area. It can be a little loud when full, and having a conversation with my husband was quite difficult. That's a pretty typical experience in these older buildings though. Just something to keep in mind if you're looking for a quiet dinner location. I ordered salmon, my husband ordered a steak. We both had soup as a starter along with a relish tray and bread - both of which seem to be unlimited. I thought my salmon was cooked perfectly, though my mashed potatoes were watery tasting. My husband thought the same of his steak and potatoes. Not the worst thing in the world, but mashed potatoes are not hard to do properly so I was a little disappointed in that. Would I come here again? Probably. Our two dinners were more than $80 before tip, so it was an expensive night out. It's not a place we would add to our normal rotation, but it's a decent special occasion spot.

We headed to the back, where the various bars for drinks were open. The lines weren't too long, but people were everywhere, talking it up and having a great time. It was estimated to be around an hour for a table, but we got seated in under 30 minutes. You can grab about any drink you can think of, and if you're a whiskey or bourbon fan, there are plenty of options to choose from. We got seated inside, and behind us were so many options for spirits to purchase--it was fun just to look over everything they had. On top of that, there was a guy going around giving samples of spirits, so you can always get lucky that way and grab a sample of a possible future purchase We got salads, burgers, cheese curds, and other items. The food was excellent, and I was starving. If you left the place hungry, that's your fault--portion sizes were large, and the food was filling. The place was certainly noisy, and that's to be expected. This wasn't a problem, but keep it in mind. That Friday energy had people laughing, telling their stories from the week, and enjoying the food. Our server was extremely attentive and kept track of everything amidst so much going on there. I was really impressed with both the food and service. Can't wait to make it back there!

My take out container was weighty and looked good. The cheeseburger was big and no recently popular thin burger smash burger with 3 whole strips of bacon. The tator tots were crisp on the out side soft and chunky on the inside. The toppings were fresh as the bun. Don't let the white jackets on the servers fool you, they are relaxed and personable. It's a supper club. They may not have the most extensive menu, but I don't know of anyone who has ever had a issue with what they ordered. Normally, I'm the person who goes out to try something different. JG's is an exception that this rule. I love lamb, especially lamb chops when they are prepared properly. I have always been satisfied with the lamb chops. Simply the best. Tonight we came with another couple, who were celebrating a birthday. They are members of JGs loyalty club. At our table, they had left a handwritten card with birthday greeting. They were also entitled to a discount. We have had this server before, and have always impressed with the professionalism, and helpfulness. After ordering a round of drinks, with a couple of excellent old fashioned, we were ready to place our food order. Of course I got the Lamb Chops, and the others ordered, Chicken Piccata, Steak Diane, and Bacon Wrapped Scallops. While we waited, there was bread and small tray of crackers and spreads (I do wish they served an actual relish tray). Didn't take that long for the food. It was all hot, flavorful and good portions. My Lamb Chops were a perfect medium rare. The sides were also sufficiently hot, which was an improvement over our last visit. All the other entrees were excellent. And everyone had some leftovers to take home. For dessert the birthday boy got a free Schaum Torte. We added to that with a Brandy Alexander, which was hand mixed and not overblended. And a Creme Brulee, freshly torted so that caramel with dry and brittle, not soft and tacky. A great way to end a superb meal. Definitely a place that we look forward to returning too!
