Buyer and Customer Beware!…read more Recently I noticed my app was not working to arm and disarm my alarm. After calling Rampart, they said "yes currently our services are offline". Then I asked if that meant we would not be covered by monitoring for fire or burglary. They said "yes, that's correct". I was completely flabbergasted. Three large issues for me: - They never notified their clients the monitoring service was offline. My first issue was at 9PM the night before I called. When I called Rampart around 9AM the next day, the guy on the phone said: "Oh yeah it's down, but it hasn't been down that long". To which I replied "yes it has, my home has been unprotected for 12+ hours". - After researching the app communications, I quickly was able to determine the IP address involved was from BOLIVIA. The IP was registered to "Bulgaria Sofiya Residence Control" - Why on planet Earth would I want my home secured through a server in Bolivia which is now down? That IP address was 212.73.143.204. - The monthly service fee they charge is much higher than the service we received. The monitoring service was the cheapest available, likely turning $20-25/mo in profit for adding absolutely zero value. They use a third-party service called "m2mservices" which is hosted on a server in Bolivia. https://m2mservices.com/ The device is the cheapest available and the service, being outside of the US, is most likely also the cheapest possible. After calling back, they had zero problems refunding our entire charge.. which is too bad... we were a customer for over eight years without a miss in payment. Stay away, the company doesn't care if your home is protected, or at least not enough to tell you about it.

Once again, I saw this is happening frequently on the news tonight where a bunch of houses are being burglarized by people who are knocking hard on the front door and then kicking the door in. I had this happen one time where a guy knocked very hard on the front door and luckily I was able to get to the door before anything terrible happened. He asked for some name that I had never heard of. I didn't have the outside light on but I watched him walk away by the street light. He parked about a block from my house....very suspicious. Anyway, I felt very lucky that night but decided it was time to reinforce my doors. The jambbrace works just like is shown on the video on their website. The Overland Park police offered assistance with the design. Locally designed and made and listed with the Better Business Bureau. A great product that gives me a peace of mind. Came back few minutes later saying the charge was $125. ( You should know that Teague installed the wiring, smoke detectors and security system in the house when it was built.) When I called, I was told the manager had just stepped out, but the receptionist said he would call me back when he came back. He never called back. If they came out and found a problem, and I decided not to have them repair it, I could see them charging me for the service call. But coming out, looking at it and telling me they could not work on it, and then charging me $125, I think is a poor business practice. They put the system in, so obviously they could work on it. And then not calling me back, another poor business practice. I will not call them again, they obviously have no concern for their customers, they only care about how much money they can get out of them. If you need an electrician, call elsewhere and get someone you can trust to do the work, not walk away with your money.

I, as the customer, had no idea of even an estimate of the amount that I would be liable for at the end of service. 2) Outlets were left open and unsafe while he went to Home Depot to get new outlets and a switch. He was gone for over 1 hour on the clock for this errand 3) He was taking other calls and helping other technicians and doing other work while was on the clock for the work in my unit. He spent 15 minutes typing up the service order while still on the clock. Also, he was chatty, but the clock was running with such high rates, I would think there would be minimal engagement in communication. 4) He charged more than 3x the cost of the items that were installed in my unit. 5) I am a professional in the industry and regularly review pricing for professional electricians on major commercial construction. I understand what a reasonable rate is and Tann Electric refused to compromise on the bill or take any sort of responsibility.
