I had such a great experience with the stove I bought from Eugene years ago, that Lorain Furniture and Appliance was the first and last place that I looked for another. It's been a year now, and I love this thing. Works perfectly. We also had some guys out to do work on a washer and dryer and had a great experience with them as well. The whole crew here is always so knowledgeable and helpful.

Sure, there were a few items that were a little pricey (like these corner book shelves that were $350/ea.), but really everything else was pretty negotiable and, well, cheap! They even had a porch swing that I'm still considering coming back for and it's only $40!! Umm, lay off it--it's mine. They also have lots of appliances, antique and new, as well as new mattresses for a pretty teeny price. I'm tempted to also go back for their bed frames, since mine is on it's way out. And for only $20-25, you really can't beat that. I'm excited to come back when they get some new antiques in, but for the time being this place is packed with interesting things. I say packed because it's literally a hodge-podge of cool stuff piled on top of each other into a maze that's almost impossible to get through. That's how you know it's going to be good. Like I mentioned before, the gents there seemed relatively open to negotiation on some of the antique furniture pieces, so don't be too shy to ask. If you can get past the pure terror of hanging out in the neighborhood, you'll definitely be rewarded with treasures for cheap.

For a month & a half, I had been trying to arrange for one of their technicians come out and look unit because it never worked properly. I bought the dishwasher 3 days before the new year and someone finally came on February 17th. When their mechanics finally came out, They left saying that they would need to bring another part because all of a sudden a pipe was leaking. They never called back and water started leaking onto my kitchen floor and into my basement that same day. I called them to try to get it fixed since it started suddenly after they came, and they never called back. Running a new line cost ME another $125 out of pocket. When I went back to the store, they only refunded the original $100 purchase price and refused to reimburse the $125 for the required water line or the money sent to the delivery guy for faulty installation. They repeatedly told me the delivery guy who installed the dishwasher had "scammed other people" and no longer works for them but unfortunately, they would not be refunding me. To make matters worse, they would not even pick up the nonworking dishwasher, leaving me stuck with a broken appliance and additional disposal hassle. Overall, I'm out hundreds of dollars with nothing to show for it. Poor accountability & poor customer service. I would strongly recommend going elsewhere for appliances.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Lawrence. I am 60 years old and a career social worker…read more I prefer to write good reviews when warranted. I loathe leaving bad reviews. It pains me to share the following. My father's riding lawn mower was running rough. I worked on the obvious items. I changed the fuel filter, air filter, spark plug and carburetor. It didn't improve. In the process, I noticed the hood for the spark plug wasn't making a great connection. To solve that problem, I purchased a new coil. Accessing the coil was more work than I wanted to do so I pushed the mower .8 of a mile to Puritas Hardware. I explained the aforementioned. I requested that the mower be repaired while providing them with the new coil with specific instructions to replace the old. Approximately, ten days later I received a phone call. The mower was ready to pick up. I arrived to pick up the mower. The receipt indicated that they reviewed all of my efforts, flushed the fuel system, vented the fuel tank, and cleaned/adjusted the carburetor. The coil had not been replaced but what did I care as long as it was fixed. I didn't make it one block before I turned around to return it. The person running the cash register started the mower and confirmed that it was running rough. He agreed to continue to work in it. I was not able to speak with the mechanic because he was not in. I stressed that I wanted the coil replaced. He replied, "If it was the coil, it wouldn't be running at all," (although my research begs to differ.) I explained, once again, that I wasn't so much concerned with the coil, but the spark plug boot attached to it. He assured me that it would be addressed. I returned a week later. "He's still working on it." But, at two in the afternoon, I was not able to speak with the mechanic because he, again, wasn't in. I asked if the coil had been replaced. "That wouldn't be the problem. Sometimes mowers just run like that." I encourage the reader to re-read that sentence. After five more days without a phone call, I gave up. I walked there, got the mower and pushed it the .8-mile home. They didn't seem to care. It is almost as if they didn't want my money. Lawrence P.S. Bennett Repair fixed the mower in two days. It was the coil.

They were very friendly and came out to fix it on Feb 12. They fixed it ($179), and it lasted a week before it threw the same error code again. They came out and looked at it again, and recommended a part with a bigger fix, so we said OK, and we ordered it. On their third trip to our place they came out Feb 24 and installed that new part ($505). That fix worked, and the tech was very friendly, but a week later it threw yet again the E15 error code. I called their office in frustration and three days later they still hadn't called me back. So I called in again and they promised to come out and make it right. After another few days' wait, they came out again on March 10, looked at it, fixed it up, and that fixe lasted, yep, about a week. They came back on March 24 and recommended another fix (only a $30 part this time), and they installed it on March 28. This time I was assured it was fixed for real, and it seemed like it was running fine just like every other time the tech was here. But yep, the dreaded E15 error code came again three days later on March 31. So we've been eating off paper plates on and off for six weeks, Mr. Appliance has come to my house six times, made four repairs, at a cost of over $700, and my dishwasher is still broken. The tech is super friendly and seems knowledgeable, but he certainly hasn't actually fixed my dishwasher. They don't seem to have anyone else to send to fix it. Their management takes a few days to call you back even when you're obviously dissatisfied, and their only solution to make it right is to send their people back to repeat the same attempt. So if you've got an easy job, maybe Mr. Appliance will be the right fit for you. But if you've got a tricky job I can't recommend Mr. Appliance, while their techs are friendly you may find yourself wasting six weeks of effort and hundreds of dollars and yet have to replace your dishwasher anyways.

Your technician replaced the compressor on my Thermador wine cooler after diagnosing it as the…read morecause of the cooling issue. However, a little over a month later, the unit stopped cooling again. During the follow-up visit, the same technician identified severe corrosion on the heat exchanger and a refrigerant leak. Thermador later confirmed that the unit is not repairable, and I was forced to purchase a replacement out of pocket at a discounted price (which is currently backordered). I want to express my concern that this corrosion and leakage likely did not develop within such a short period of time. It seems far more probable that the corrosion was already present during the initial diagnosis and simply went unnoticed. If that is the case, the compressor replacement was only a temporary fix and did not address the root cause of the problem. I understand that I was informed that the leak is being treated as a separate issue and therefore not covered under the repair warranty. However, from my perspective, I paid for a repair which ultimately failed because the underlying problem was not identified or resolved. I sent you an email and I am still waiting for your reply almost a year later...
