I was looking forward to dining at Dengeo's. I enjoy their Chicken Kabob and it did not disappoint. It was fresh and delicious. The tzatziki sauce was fantastic, making the dining experience exceptional. I look forward to returning

Combo Kabob Dinner

When we are in the area we love dining here. Today my husband ordered the chicken breast dinner and it is so filling and delicious! I ordered a side of Falafel but they were overcooked... almost too hard to eat! They still tasted yummy and I would order them again even if they were cooked the same way! The people working at the register were really nice but the guy cleaning the tables kept bumping into my bad leg. I have it slightly hanging over the edge of the booth so I don't get the booth seat dirty/wet because my knee is injured and I cannot bend it... he could have walked around the other side of the table near us (see photo) and I felt like he purposely came on our side of the table to hit my leg because it was up on the seat. One time ok.... But come on... twice. Ouch! Makes me not want to eat here anymore. Hopefully this wont happen the next time we dine here. Giving 5 stars for the food!!

Regular gyros sandwich at Dengeo's-- a beast!

I have been coming to this location since they opened, nearly 30 years ago. Prior to that, my family had been going to the original location which has now been open 50 years. There are a lot of reasons why the restaurants are open this long, great service, great food, clean location, reasonable prices. On my recent visit, I had just a gyros sandwich and it was more than enough to carry me from lunch time through dinner: Regular gyros sandwich at Dengeo's -- whopping amount of lamb, a fantastic sandwich size, really high quality meat, always freshly cooked, delicious tzatziki and vegetables. The tilapia is always excellent, as is the Greek chicken. A Greek salad is large and absolutely filling. I think I've had dolmadis before, but I've really gone only for these three previously mentioned Main items. As a dessert, you can't go wrong with baklava, sticky gooey sweet with plenty of nuts inside, although not a huge piece. There is plenty of parking on the side and in the back. If you've never been, Dengeos is a must go!

Let me just say that Dengeos has always been a solid dive in the BG area. The food is delectable and hits the spot every freakin time! The foot traffic reflects as such, as there always seems to be an abundance of hungry mouths coming in the door. The store itself is always kept in pretty good condition and has never felt bland or outdated. It serves as great place to hang with a group or even a date spot. It has all the fine qualities of a local joint. The Hotdog is on point and has the great Chicago flavors we all have come to know and love. The fries stick the landing as well, but have nothing truly to write home about, but I digress. As I always must, I of course tried their Mozzarella Sticks. They average a solid 4 on the savoriness scale, if ya catch my drift. The marinara included to compliment is regretfully is not as up to par. It is not horrible or inedible, but it just isn't what it could be. It could just be that I prefer something sweeter, but I shall move on. Overall, a meal at D's will always leave one satisfied, and is truly a privilege. Keep up the good work and good food, you guys rock!

Wanted to eat at a fast food sit down restaurant with the family and we landed at Dengeos in Buffalo Grove. When I lived in Morton Grove, IL - I'd frequent Dengeos in Skokie and I really liked their food. When we walked in the restaurant, it was about half full and we were able to get a spot to sit immediately. The order takers greeted us and let us know that they can take our order when ready. The place was lively and it appeared everyone was enjoying their food. After we placed our order it was ready in appropriately 12 minutes. We ordered, the Butterfly Shrimp Dinner that came with a Greek Salad, fries, and garlic bread, Skirt Steak Sandwich, Spinach Pie that also came with a salad, side of Greek Potatoes, and fried mushrooms. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and had a nice crunch and tasted like any other fried butterfly shrimp. The garlic bread was tasty and the bread has a nice chew. The crinkle cut fries were crisp and was had the right amount of salt. They used the same garlic bread for the skirt steak sandwich. I was told the sandwich was just ok as it was a little over done. Also, it didn't have much flavor to it. The nice sized spinach pie was flaky and the filling was a good mix of spinach and feta cheese. It was creamy and yummy. The Greek potatoes were too salty so we asked them if we can switch the potatoes for the Greek rice and they did, no questions asked! I could taste the lemon in the rice but it was not overpowering. The fried mushrooms paired well with the Tzatziki sauce. Overall we paid approximately $56 Dolars which included 3 fountain drinks. I feel that the portions were enough to satisfy our hunger. Was the Buffalo Grove location equal to the Skokie location? Yes! It was no different! If the family wants to come back to try the other menu items, we would!!!

We just discovered there is a Dengeos location within 20 minutes of where we live, which was an amazing discovery! I used to get Dengeos at the Skokie location during college and when I worked in the area a long time ago. This location is great at everything they do, similar as the Skokie location. The employees were very friendly and helpful during our dining experience. On this visit we ordered dine in meals and had a few items we ordered for take out. They had a seamless process to handle that request and they executed on that process as intended too! In so many cases lately at other places, execution has been the biggest issue. This location has a large dining room with both booths and tables, with a few TV's on each of the walls playing sports. When you first enter the restaurant, you're greeted with the long counter where you place your order with one of the few employees taking orders. They will call your order number when it's ready for you. They have bussers who come around to clean off the tables and pick up empty plates etc. Ee weren't sure if we were supposed to take our plates to a trash area or leave them at the table at first. The food! So good, just like I remember from the other location. The portion sizes are large, take a look at the picture I posted for the chicken and half rib combo, we expected 1 piece of chicken and half slab of ribs. We got half a chicken, the ribs, Cole slaw, baked potato, and pita bread. Dengeos is by far one of my favorite Greek gyro, burger, hot dog spots! I haven't had anything that I didn't enjoy from Dengeos. I doubt you'd be disappointed if you go try it!

There is a monstrous screen behind the bar for sports, but they mostly show videos of Greece, but they are mesmerizing videos of a beautiful country. It's a cleaner version of Dengeo's. And, dare I say, better version. Except for their avgolemeno soup. Such a weak travesty. Please fix this. It's just a watery mess. However, everything else is delicious. I ordered the Greek Chicken with their lemon-butter rice. They debone the chicken and serve atop a mountain of their rice. If also had their potatoes (which are good) but the rice is magical. The first time we went, they had a serve yourself soda fountain and they since got rid of it and sell soda in bottles and cans. They do still have a self-serve water station. Once you order, staff will bring to your table, so please tip when you order or leave on the table as they do come by and clear your table as well. It is first come first served and you grab your own tables. I've been there on weekends and weeknights and they get pretty packed. The food is flavorful and quite tasty. The portions are huge so you're definitely going to bring something home. Nostimo is now in our rotation of places to go in a pinch and they do have an outdoor seating area, too.

Actually has a drive thru so how classy can it be. The restaurant has options for families and groups. Coming in here it looked like a regular casual restaurant where you order at the counter. It's one of those places you get the food brought out. There's also a bar area you can get beer and wine. For certain it's not the average fast casual. It's about $8 for a glass. Best we had was the Roditis, which is a rosé from Corinthia. It's about $8 for the Hummus. Comes with lots of pita bread. The rest of the menu is meaty. Great place located on Rand at Chestnut. It's closed Mondays. There's the hummus for vegetarians.

And thank God for that. The place is gloriously old-school. The booths, the coffee, the menu, the clientele... everything feels like it belongs to an America where breakfast cost 8 bucks, nobody photographed their eggs, and every restaurant had at least one guy named Gus somewhere near the kitchen. Ryan and I ordered omelettes, because this is exactly the kind of place where ordering anything called "avocado toast" should get you escorted from the building. Then came the real magic: They brought bread first. Bread. Before breakfast. Like civilized people. Not some microscopic artisan biscuit served on slate. Actual diner bread, delivered with the confidence of a restaurant that knows carbohydrates built this country. The omelettes were excellent. Big, hot, filling, completely unconcerned with presentation, and exactly what an omelette should be. Nobody tried to drizzle anything over them. Nobody introduced us to the chickens. Nobody told us the feta had "notes." It was breakfast. Beautiful, uncomplicated breakfast. Now we need to discuss the P.O.A. Index. Catastrophic. The dining room looked like somebody had chartered a bus from an active-living community and accidentally dropped everyone off for brunch. Every direction I looked, another person appeared to be discussing property taxes, statins, or what their grandson is doing at Northwestern. The Index was circling zero. Then Aria appeared. Gold shoes. Hot. Like somebody had accidentally dropped a nightclub hostess into a Greek diner full of people who remember when FDR was president. Those shoes were doing heroic work. For a brief moment, hope returned. But ultimately, this was not that kind of evening. We ate omelettes, drank iced tea, watched senior citizens methodically destroy pancakes, and accepted the crushing reality that sometimes a man goes to eat simply to have food. And you know what? It was great. Five stars. Excellent omelettes. Bread before the meal. Pure Greek-diner nostalgia. A horrifyingly low P.O.A. Index briefly rescued by Aria's gold shoes.

I ordered the Greek salad which was popping with flavor not to mention all the chunks of feta they included. Then I had the chicken kabob dinner. It came piping hot, was tender and chock full of flavor! Service was excellent and our waiter Luis took very good care and checked on us often. The…read moreplace was empty, unfortunately, though we were told that the local assisted living places bus in their residents for Bingo night in the bar and it gets busy. They have a large parking lot and (when it's warm) a nice outdoor seating area. Though, people smoke out there which makes it unpleasant for those of us not wishing to get the second-hand smoke and makes in unpleasant, so we have gone elsewhere because of this. This is January, though, so no worries about smoking near the food. We were seating it their very spacious dining room. The hostess lead us to our table as the cook (or manager) barked directions to her as to where to seat us. Other people came in after us and that same behavior didn't take place. It seemed odd, bt whatever. My wife and I were not looking for anything heavy so we both ordered soup and salad. She got the French onion soup and I the chicken noodle soup. Scratch that, I got the small cubed celery and carrot soup with a few noodles and couple pieces of chicken and a splash of broth. I guess I have to let them know that I prefer more broth in my soup because this seemed more like chicken noodle stew vs soup. She got the southwest chicken salad without corn. and I got the wedge without tomato and blue cheese and subbed in ranch instead. The wedge was huge and covered in bacon and the ranch dressing was very good (like Wingstop ranch good). Instead of a wedge, this was more of a 1/3 of a head of lettuce. It was crisp and fresh. It was very good. My wife liked her salad as well stating that it was flavorful and crisp, too. Our server was quick to refill our waters which was nice as he just did it without us ever asking (a great trait, btw). There was another server who was more of an entertainer. He would come into the dining room, dance a little and sing. Woodfire doesn't have entertainment like this; he was just happy to do his thing, and chat with the tables. It was a nice change and made the dinner more enjoyable. We paid our bill (which you can do online via a QR code on the bill) and left and the manager/owner experessed his pleasure in having us join Woodfire that evening and off we went. It's a good place with some decent options which seem to change periodically. Not sure if it's a seasonal change, but it's nice to see. Their pizza is also pretty good. It's a nice neighborhood tavern with good drinks and food. Anda bit of bingo.

The parking lot is enormous, and they have a bar area in addition to a large amount of outdoor seating. Service was quite fast as we were the one of a few tables in the dining area on a Thursday evening. The interior of the dining room fit our needs quite well with plenty of TVs all around and much more comfortable seating than you'd get at a bar. The food here feels a bit pricey, except for the pizzas which area priced very competitively. It's not too crazy compared to other options in the long grove area however and the portion sizes are fair. One of the things to remember too is that some of the ingredients here are a bit more premium and that's reflected in the price. Still, I wish there were a few more choices of value priced items, though the pricing may needed to help support all the events that they run here. With that said, they do run specials on some days of the week that are quite competitive. The food itself is not bad at all. I liked the Texas Twinkles that had a good level of savoriness and wasn't really spicy, but had a good richness and amount of fat to it. It was a little small for $13 but still enjoyable. The Woodfire BBQ Chicken Thin pizza was big enough to feed 4 and was done quite well. It's a bit on the savory side with the applewood bacon and red onion with about the right amount of cilantro and seasonings to balance everything out. It wasn't too salty or sweet, and the amount of mozzarella was just about right. The wagyu brisket platter was also quite good, with meat that was super tender and had a nice crust. I wasn't a huge fan of the cornbread, and found the baked beans and corn to be fine -- but did enjoy their version of the coleslaw. Overall, a solid choice if you're in the Long Grove area and need a spot to have a nice meal with friends. The full menu and comfortable dining room make it a pleasant spot to spend some time at (when they're not too busy).

Out of curiosity, I decided to check it out. Located across from the railroad tracks and near the Metra station, Dario's is a local institution that serves up tasty sandwiches and more. I liked their sandwiches options on the menu. The variety was good. I ordered their Fiesta Panini that's made with pulled pork, habañero aioli, muenster cheese, red peppers, red onions, and avocado. I wanted something to drink and I saw that they have homemade lemonade with cool, different flavors. I got me a small Guava Lemonade. My panini was freshly prepared. It had a good flavor w/ a nice kick of heat from the habañero aioli (but not spicy in the typical habañero flavor sense). The pulled pork was delicious in taste and texture along with the toppings of muenster cheese, the habañero aioli, red peppers, red onions, and avocado. I should've eaten only one half of the sandwich but I couldn't resist having more, so I finished it. The panini was darn delicious. However, my issue is that I went in with one other person and we ordered two paninis and two cans of sprite (one of each for each of us), with one salad bowl to share. It was $55 dollars after tax. Maybe it's me but it seems like a lot. The service isn't really a question here. It's not bad. They call your name, you grab your food, and bus your own table when you're done. Pretty standard. However, If they did that for you, the price wouldn't bother me as much because thats a proper service. To talk a bit about the restaurant itself, it's small with more space to eat outside than inside, but thats just lovely right now in the summer. The place looks clean too. They had complimentary coffee which was nice. The staff are reasonably young. Probably late high school or freshmen in college but that doesn't mean they can't do a good job. Overall, I don't know if I'd recommend this place to everyone. Im conflicted. I like big portions and quality foods of course, and this was great in flavor, just pricey. To reference the surrounding area, I can go here, or to Emits across the street which is consider the finest dining in downtown Palatine past the Argentinean Bendita and Bella Pizza, and spend around the same amount of money. Still the best panini I've had in a while though.
