It's clearly well-cared for, but is along a busy four lane road, so there's not much to speak of as far as ambiance. They have a wide variety of options and prices are pretty standard for the ice cream scene. It's clear that it's a favorite amongst the locals, but it loses a star for the inconvenience of having to have cash. Everytime we come to town, we make it a point to visit Del's freez. Last time was in March. I was a bit disappointed that on our recent visit, the prices ballooned. A medium cone is now $4.00 and a large is now at $4.80. The hit wouldn't be too hard if they gave you your monies worth. They now raised their prices and give you less. School let out, walk the two blocks, get some ice cream. I wonder why I was a fat kid? So they have different flavors for soft serve. Kind of surprised me here. I did peanut butter dipped in chocolate? Hell yeah! I am a dipped cone kind of guy, and when it is done right, it is beautiful! They do it right. I tried the krunch-kote... so you don't have to. It tasted stale. Some was soft, some was rock hard. I suspect they don't go through much. Avoid it. Dipped cones. Stick to that! They also sold hot dogs and polish sausage. Not sure how many of those they go through, maybe I will try one. But I will always go for dipped cones. Stick with the soft serve. If you try to tell me DQ is better, I will laugh. I grew up going to Del's and even my parents grew up going to Del's. It was always always always a treat that I looked forward to after dinner. If I wasn't getting a black raspberry ice cream sundae with chocolate sprinkles from Friendly's, I was definitely here at Del's eating a hot fudge brownie sundae or drinking a strawberry shake. I'm not kidding, I can't think of many other ice cream shops I frequented more than these two. I am not surprised, yet I am amazed at the same time, that they've been around for over 60 years (1956)! This is a family-owned business that serves soft serve ice cream and hot dogs at a really affordable price. You walk up to the window to order and then you sit at a picnic table off to the side of the building (if there's one available) and enjoy your ice cream before it starts melting in the Florida heat. Don't come here expecting a super pristine and clean patio or amazing service, either. It's pretty much a dive. Parking can be a pain too and the lines can be long on a hot day but it's worth the wait and fun for the whole family to enjoy together or after a day at the beach. Beware as they only accept cash! I don't live in the area anymore but you already know that I MUST make a stop here every time I come back into town to visit. Oh, Del's, you and I are gonna start a bad romance. This place is, the BOMBdotCOM! A cute little roadside hot dog hut and soft serve haven. When I read other Yelpers reviews, I bookmarked and drooled for days, then after a creamy, delicious dream, I got my soft serve on, y'all! I went around 1:30 PM in the afternoon, on a Monday. There was no line. Dodged that bullet. The menu was a bit overwhelming to read. There was stuff on a marquee, things listed in the windows, it was chaos! I opted for a peanutbutter cone and feeling extra indulgent, I got that bad boy dipped. Oh, crimoney!! I've never inhaled a cone like this. I ordered a medium and it was huge, I deeply regret not taking a photo of it! It melted rather quickly. No, I was just in full on hefer mode. Seriously, it was frozen peanut butter-creamy heaven.
