He gets defensive any time you question a price or suggest getting another opinion. He quoted my daughter nearly $2,000 for a few repairs. When I mentioned going to another shop, he was clearly unhappy. Well, we did and not just one, but two different mechanics looked at the car. Both shops did more work for about half the price he tried to charge. Customers keep your business running, so some honesty and respect would go a long way. There are plenty of other mechanics out there, and we'll be taking our cars to Twiggs from now on they've always been polite, fair, and transparent.

Several times I had the dealer hand me a $2000+ list of things I needed to do only to find out a third were not needed and the rest were double the price. As I wait for my car during services I constantly see panicked walk-ins that are taken last minute or hear calls that they agree to take same or next day. The only problem I have ever had in the past was they were always so busy it would be hard to get them on the phone. The employees were handling phones and the car work. They have since hired an amazing person in the office that is a pleasure to talk to and makes using Barrington Auto even better.

Customers are blamed for not better navigating a literal one-way maze. Used to go here out of loyalty from years of previous service, but will now be searching for a new mechanic after multiple consecutive negative experiences. Very unfortunate and disappointing.

I noticed Ashley's 2009 Lexus was leaking in the driveway. I used to work on my own vehicles and have a good understanding of "car stuff". I checked the fluids, levels were fine. Told her it was safe to drive, but we should get it fixed because who wants a car leaking fluid? Brought it to d&m, they said it was the power steering rack big repair! But hopefully this would be the last major repair before we got a new vehicle. Let's just get it done. Power steering rack replaced (~$1500). It was still leaking! Ugh. We brought it in again and they said it was the power steering pump (~$800). Now, anyone with some common sense would think there was a possibility this was a misdiagnosis and the rack was never leaking. I thought this was a legitimate concern to ask about before we got the pump replaced. Including my own opinion, I asked 2 mechanic friends of mine and a third friend who used to own a repair shop. The consensus was it was likely a misdiagnosis. Maybe not, but most likely. Armed with this information, I politely asked the shop if there was a possibility it was misdiagnosed. I am the type of person that never likes to accuse someone of something if I might be wrong. I got immediate pushback from the owners son- no way, they are in two different places, we've been in business 50 years. If you don't trust us you can go somewhere else. Ok- even if it was leaking in both places (unlikely), we should have been told this up front that it needs both a rack and a pump. If we knew it was going to be $2300 vs $1500 maybe we wouldn't have gotten the work done and replaced the vehicle. But the response to a long term customer was totally inappropriate and unacceptable, disrespectful. We already made the decision we wouldn't be going there again, but let's just get it fixed. Still leaking! Go back in, we are told now that it is leaking from the front differental. I recorded the conversation with the owner, who responded the exact same way as his son. I brought my truck to R & F Auto on August 26th because it had a history of not starting at times…read moreor a hesitation to turn over. It definitely had a problem. My truck sat in his parking lot for nearly 3 weeks before Ronnie, my 3rd mechanic, even looked at it. So I had to rent a car for 13 days, which was very costly and I also had to borrow a friend's car. Well, on September 15th, nearly 3 weeks later, Ronnie told me that he couldn't find anything wrong with my truck, except he had to spray something that was rusted on the wiring. He also said it started up every time for him. My truck always hesitated to start. I'm glad he didn't charge me for whatever he did to it. But he said he would be curious to know what was wrong with it if I continued to have problems starting it, which was still an issue. Well, I brought my truck to a 4th mechanic who fixed it in 2 days! It was both camshaft sensors A & B, which my 2nd mechanic said wasn't the problem after he only replaced one of them, but later reinstalled the old one when he realized that wasn't the problem. It ended up being both camshaft sesors that was the problem. I also had the wrong starter installed by my first mechanic back in April. It had a lower voltage than what should have been in there. My truck starts up great now. No hesitation whatsoever. It's too bad it took my 4th mechanic to figure it out. I even went back to my "new" mechanic a week later, and he replaced the front brakes, rotors, pads, calipers & 1 brake line the day after I dropped it off.. I'll be going to him for now on.

I took the car to Pat and he stopped what he was doing and started to diagnose the car. He then told me that most likely it wasn't serious. I told him I had an important doctors appointment the next morning and asked if I should rent a car. He said "leave the car with me." Later that day, he called me and said the car was repaired! Wow, was I grateful and relieved that he was able to fix the car the SAME DAY! I always trust Pat. He and his team are very customer focus, honest and competent.
