Several times I had the dealer hand me a $2000+ list of things I needed to do only to find out a third were not needed and the rest were double the price. As I wait for my car during services I constantly see panicked walk-ins that are taken last minute or hear calls that they agree to take same or next day. The only problem I have ever had in the past was they were always so busy it would be hard to get them on the phone. The employees were handling phones and the car work. They have since hired an amazing person in the office that is a pleasure to talk to and makes using Barrington Auto even better.

Rude employees that yell at customers about their personal issues (specifically an employee in a…read moredenim vest, with gauged ears, multiple tattoos, and a mustache) -ignores appointment notes and disregards requested services -doesn't call you to inform of completed services -occasionally forgets to complete agreed upon services on the scheduled date; necessitating leaving your car for extended periods, or coming back on a different occasion. -claims to offer free annual inspection to autoclub members, but does not honor this offer. -claims to offer yearly coupons via email, but does not honor this. -poorly coordinated parking lot that isn't equipped to handle the amount of vehicles that are being accepted into this facility at any one time. Customers are blamed for not better navigating a literal one-way maze. Used to go here out of loyalty from years of previous service, but will now be searching for a new mechanic after multiple consecutive negative experiences. Very unfortunate and disappointing.

I bought part for…read moreupstream before the catalytic converter. the car has 2 oxygen sensors, one before the pre catalytic converter (B1S1) and another one after (B1S2). the part I bought was for B1S1 but Hutchins installed it in B1S2. after he was done he told I needed because the car two sensors. I agreed that he should order the part and I'll give him the money ($40). that was my mistake for trusting the guy. $40 was small price to pay to see if he's honest. Wrong! Anyway, I texted and called him but no response. I don't recommend this guy, definitely don't give him money to buy parts. He will steal it. I should file a police report.

And, it's rare nowadays to see a gas station that has some full-service pumps. But, they are so cramped for space that I literally caused a one-man traffic jam in the lot just parking to use the air pump. Worse yet, the filling ports for the underground fuel storage tanks are in front of the garage bay doors, so if my modest-sized work van caused such chaos, I can only imagine how much worse navigating the gas pumps would be when a tanker truck is making a fuel delivery. Other reasons for my low rating is that they do not sell diesel fuel, and only have the barest selection of drinks (one small cooler) and snacks. I get that it's a gas station/automotive repair garage, and not a convenience store, but if you have to make a stop, why not stop at a place that has both? They sell BP-branded gas, and the price was about average. Oh, and the air pump was free.

He gets defensive any time you question a price or suggest getting another opinion. He quoted my daughter nearly $2,000 for a few repairs. When I mentioned going to another shop, he was clearly unhappy. Well, we did and not just one, but two different mechanics looked at the car. Both shops did more work for about half the price he tried to charge. Customers keep your business running, so some honesty and respect would go a long way.
