Do you like Samosa's? I really was not that keen until yesterday. In the past I had only really had small supermarket ones and to be honest they were a bit tasteless and bland. So when Rocco G recommended I try this place and pick myself up a Samosa I was not completely convinced to say the least. However out on a walk around woodlands I decided to pop in and grab one to see if they lived up to their reputation.
Don't be put off by the outside of the place, yes it looks a bit 3 in 1 takeaway'ish and its nothing fancy. Yes its in the "rough round the edges" Woodlands area (Pammi G - I don't know how you do it), but when you see past these two things and go in you are in for a pleasant surprise. Now they do lots of different things (pastries, traditional kebabs, etc) but I can only vouch for the service and the Samosas. They claim everything is home made and it really tastes like that when you try the food. I have had a lamb and a chicken samosa and both were brilliant. Really spicy and amazing pastry. These are also huge. I guess about 5 times the size of the crappy wee samosas you get from supermarkets and here is the really amazing part........ 90p per Samosa!!! Now one of these things would fill you up for a lunch and they only cost 90p. Its like the bargain of the decade, no, bargain of the century!
Just one final word goes to the guy working the shop, he was actually closing when I arrived but he still let me in. He was extremely friendly and as it was the end of the day he had extra pastries left to get rid of. I went away with 8 Samosas for £1.80 when I actually went in for 2 for that price. So the tip here is if you go late on you might just end up with a buffet size take away for very little cost, rather than a small late night snack.
I will definitely be back here to try more of the food they have on offer and then if that's good to, I night just add on that extra star. Be brave and give this place a try, I doubt you will be disappointed. In fact if you go and have a samosa and don't like it I will give you, your 90p back.***
(*** - The small print - This offer is for today only, for a max of one person, I must have met you in real life, you must be able to prove you like dogs, IPA's, dumplings and know a place that does better samosas that I can visit) read more
