Drove all the way to the location. No food truck. Is it still operating? No posts on IG since December 23.

My apartment is starting to feature a different food truck every other Tuesday, which I think is…read morefantastic because we rarely get an assortment in Spring. Wanka Peruvian was first on the block! The food truck guy was friendly, and the food came out in less than 5 minutes. I wanted to order a few dishes from them, but I restrained myself and went with the 1/4 rotisserie chicken with fries. The menu we got said it came with a salad, but there wasn't. In its place was rice. So, rice and fries. Carb on carb. Lol. Rotisserie chicken: Very tender. You can taste the rosemary seasoning on the skin. Otherwise, if you're just eating the meat, there's no flavor. I made my own dipping sauce with Hellman's mayo and spicy ketchup from Whataburger. Rice: I guess the rice made up for the lack of salt or flavor in the chicken meat because it was salted nicely and cooked to perfection. Hard to tell if this was a long grain or basmati rice. I enjoyed it with the chicken. Fries: The fries were cut steak style and sprinkled with salt and coarse black pepper. The taste was AMAZING. When I first took a bite, I thought it was cooked in peanut oil, or maybe it was cooked with the yucca fries cause it had the same flavor. The portions were small for the price. I'm used to food trucks giving bigger portions. If they adjust their portions and seasoning the chicken (not just the skin), they have the potential to be a great food truck. I wanna try their lomo saltado and yucca fries next time. Check out their IG at wanka_peru!

This guy is awesome, amazing food, great personality. I highly recommend this food truck!read more

Today I went to a local beer joint called Craft Beer Cellar on Barker Cypress and Queenston. The…read morewaitress is a blast to talk to and the customers were so outgoing and friendly. I've been to many establishment similar to this but I have to get them credit to the atmosphere they created. The place wasn't too big and everyone welcomed conversations in here. Rob mentions that a food truck was outside so I took a quick look at the truck. Dude, it was a Lao food truck! I absolutely love Laotian food, and full of bold flavors. Many of you are wondering, "Laos"? What the hell is that? Let me first educate you on the location of this wonderful and beautiful country called Laos. Open up Google maps and head over to Thailand and Vietnam, there you'll see Laos snuggled between them. If you are truly a food lover and not afraid of trying new things, then find this food truck and go get you some. Da, the head chef and owner, created a masterpiece with her papaya salad. I've eaten hundreds, if not thousands of such salads but this papaya salad was legit. The home made papaya sauce, with the heat and crunch of the papaya was so freakin good!!!!! It's so damn spicy and good, you'll want to slap your mama! I ordered the brisket, short ribs and papaya salad. Everything was out of this world. I could not believe the food was this good and I found it in Cypress. I didn't expect that quality of food out of a food truck and I have to say that it was better than the restaurants I've been to. They apparently move from location to location around the city, especially breweries. I can't wait to see them again as they make their rounds. They will be at Bearded Fox on Spring Cypress on the 27 of July, then back to Craft Beer Cellar on August 3rd. Come and try it for yourself, then let me know your thoughts. Happy eating!
