Check out my spread! Tapas in Norway? Yes. And it's legit. Sooooo bomb. I would recommend it to all my friends and family. No, it's not Norwegian, but it's amazing regardless. Meatballs, bomb. That salsa, those balls. Take me. Mushrooms topped with crusted/baked Parmesan, it's guilt free for a veggie side. Yes, there's cheese but you're eating cheese on mushrooms, so that's pretty much a salad right there. Potatoes w/ a Creme fraiche like side and peppered tomato sauce. Omg, the goat cheese with honey. If you don't order that, don't even talk to me. Super crowded on a Saturday night, and rightfully so because this place is awesome. There was a long wait, but we put our names down and came back in about an hour to get a table for 6. The service is quick, super thoughtful and personable. Would recommend ~3 tapas per person. MUST GET: -the TOMATO SALAD this dish was 5/5 stars, probably takes magic and a miracle to get tomatoes to taste this amazing -the (goat?) cheese with wine and honey. ugh i want to bathe in this smooth, creamy, heaven -veal meatballs were great and the red tomato sauce they came in was delightful Everything else (chorizos, potatoes (squared shaped and fried) with sauces, large fried shrimp, green beans, tortilla espanola, creme brulee) was very good, but not mind-blowing like the tomatoes and cheese dish. In between of giving this 4 and 5 stars, but as they are such service minded they won the 5th star from me! I loved the atmosphere, the incredible service and the food of course. This place is easily reachable by a tram and is in the beginning of grünerløkka. It has a policy of no reservations so if you want to go there go either early like before 18:00 or late after 21:00 cause the line gets quite big. If you choose to be seated to the bar you might get a spot faster. We got one in 10 mins although there were 2 groups of people before us as they didn't want to sit at the bar. The food was good but I didn't like all the plates as much. We had 6 tapas between 2 people and it was enough! I loved the fried chorizo sausage, the papas bravas (potatoes with sauce), the olives and the scampi. I didn't like so much the meatballs in red sauce nor the tomatoes with cream cheese. 4/6 really tasty dishes is not a bad statistic! The service was also amazing. They made a mistake with our order and we got free chicken wings as they brought that instead of another dish and we could keep them. We had some funny comments from the bar woman and in the end I felt like home so we ended up having two more drinks each there. A great evening, recommended for small groups. Holy jesus. This place. What are you doing in Norway and not California?? I've have some tapas in various places at home, and nothing compares. My friend took me here for my last night in Norway and it almost wish we had gone here first so I could've come here every single night for dinner! We got a huge plank of: Fried artichokes Green beans Steak Shrimp Chèvre and honey Chorizo Potatoes So of all listed above, the only thing I wasn't a fan of was The green beans and fried artichoke. Everything else was seriously some of the best food I've ever had and I can genuinely say the steak was the best steak in the whole entire universe! It was medium rare and incredibly soft but a crunchy outer layer. I've never been this excited over steak. I had to share with two friends and was trying to take all the steak without them noticing! Many places in Oslo are closed on a Monday. Not so this place. So, if you're in cool and trendy Grünerløkka and you're looking for a lunch place, I can recommend Delicatessen. While it is a tapas place, both my colleague and I went for the "healthier" option: salad and sandwich lots of salad inside. Both were pretty big portions, which made me happy. What an excellent dinner! Slightly off the beaten path of tourists but we thoroughly enjoyed our ~1 mile walk each way and loved seeing another neat neighborhood in Oslo. We had the following: Bread with alioli: must order! Delicious :) Beef: amazingly tender, delicious Special of the day cod: wonderful - we actually ordered a second! Green beans: spectacular Mixed greens with tomatoes, artichokes, and eggplant: our only complaint to oily Service was a bit slow but overall very nice. We knew we wanted Tapas so the choices were Delicatessen or Escalon. We have previously been to Escalon in Bergen and Tjuvholmen and since the Yelp reviews for Delicatessen was raving we decided to give it a try. I have to admit, the food was awesome. If you go; try the fried Artichokes and the beef. I know bacon wrapped Dates doesn't belong in a "real" Tapas restaurant and therefore many choose not to put it on their menu. But it is a customer's favorite and was missed. I believe our waitress had one of the worst days of her life. She just refused to be even slightly friendly. We assume she is not representative of the place and will in the future alternate between Delicatessen and Escalon. read more

A very cosy restaurant with great food. We had 7 differenr tapas (warm and cold) for 2 persons and this was more than enough. They suggest 3 tapas each, which was a good suggestion. Every dish came at the same time, so don't let your warm tapas get cold. We had a nice glass of red wine which was recommended by our friendly waitress. Second visit, this time with meat eaters. We started out with Serrano ham, 12 months Machengo, olives and cava. Everything was very tasty . The second serving included carrot sallad, fried chorizo, grilled chicken, crab in a delicious sauce, grilled shrimps, baked chevré with honey and deep fried artichokes with pistachio cream. Accompanied by some bread and aioli. Everything tasted very good, just as last time. A small disappointment was that a third of the crab legs didn't contain any meat. I believe this probably could have been taken care of if we had commented on it to the waiter (who was friendly and service minded), but my company did not feel comfortable with doing that. We were three persons sharing the meal, and we felt like we had ordered a lot. But at the end of the meal all of us felt that we definitely could have eaten more. Be mindful when ordering that some of the servings are quite small. Like last time, I finished up with the white chocolate cheesecake (served with lemongrass sorbet, grapefruit and sweet roasted nuts). This is one of the best desserts I've ever had! We were foreigners traveling from America, and lost with the Norwegian menu and overwhelmed with all the unbelievable options. Our server said she would order for us and put together a house menu. Wowza! Am I a fan or what? This was wonderful. Busy, very busy but fantastic. We got a table right by the window at 2pm and enjoyed a beautiful bottle of wine and a thoroughly wonderful meal of tapas and two desserts. We ordered the serrano, manchego, the entrecot, green beans and tortilla de patatas, and sorbet with cava and a sorbet with creme. All was exquisite. Next time ill order more tapas and skip the desserts, there were so many more amazing options to choose from. Get there early, or be prepared to wait, its worth it though. Totally stumbled into this place while lost in the neighborhood, thanks previous yelpers for steering us here! We went with sandwiches and drinks. Mine had ham and cheese and tomatoes like candy. Boyfriends was grilled aged chèvre and peppers. Both were on thick sliced bread. I had rose. He had Heineken. Coffees to round it out. Service was great. We initially stumbled around with grunts and points but the menu was quickly explained in English after he realized we needed help. Wow. Three of us had our "last supper" here last night, as a final dinner in Oslo. We chose it based on the Yelp reviews and were not disappointed. I can't say a lot about the specific items that we had but everything was delicious. We just asked our server to choose 4 vegetarian plates and one meat plate and she delivered! She strongly recommended a tomato dish that was everything as promised - very complex flavors. The goat cheese with honey is also delicious and not as sweet as that sounds. Same goes for a potato dish with some tomato sauce - ok, that doesn't sound like much but they were really good. The least flavorful item was actually the little ox wrap (sorry, no idea what the name was). It wasn't bad, but didn't have any particularly unique flavor either. Only a letdown by comparison. We got extra bread to mop up the juices of everything, so were plate cleaners! Also had dessert but I was apparently in food nirvana already because I can't recall what we got! All I can say is that it was eq Service was very good. We arrived at about 8 or so and the place was packed. But the wait was only about 5 minutes and we got served immediately, They were attentive but didn't rush us, so I think we were there until about 10;30. It was clearly a very young crowd but seemed to be mix of groups and dates. The one thing that I want to bring attention to for visitors to the city is how close this is to the Central Station area. We got the 24 hour pass for Ruter and made the most of it for the day. So even though we were dead tired when we left for dinner, it couldn't have been easier - just grab the 11,12. or 13 tram near the church in the center shopping district and it's about 5 minutes. The ride was actually so quick that we missed our stop and had to walk back a few blocks! If you have the energy, you could easily walk there from Central Station/Oslo City.
