There is no waiter for your table, and everything is do it yourself setup. You have to download an app to order your food and wait for a confirmation code to come to your phone. If you are from another country, the confirmation code may not work. Once you order from the menu, you have to pick up your own drink and food. Once you get the app working, you will get a notification to when your drink and food is ready to pick up from the designated areas. Ambiance: The atmosphere of the restaurant is very cool but unfortunately it is very tight with the tables being so close together and not very big inside. Some areas seem very old and may need some additional cleaning. I do not like restaurants that use carpet as their main dining area. In addition, the majority of the sitting areas are high bar tables. I would say as well, even with the nice crowd of people, it was not very loud inside. Food: If you are looking for a fulling menu, this is not what this place is set up for. This place is set up as more of a finger food type of place that has orders placed on a wood plank, and again, you have to go pick it up from the kitchen yourself. Several items of food needed a bunch of seasoning. The only thing that was good was the drinks and the chicken wings. I would pass on everything I had. There are some vegan options, but even those need some additional seasoning as well. Overall: If you are looking for someone where to have a great conversation or just hang out, I would recommend this place. However, if you are in the mood for a fulfilling meal, this is not the place for you. Unfortunately, I can't highly recommend this place.

Such great efforts in helping with ordering and giving a bit of history on the restaurant. The family owned restaurant has been in service helping the local culinary students. Loved the chance to sit and enjoy the hard to choose from tapas, everything we ordered was delicious. The decor is perfectly arranged with old photos of bullfighting days and candlelight's in the window. I highly recommend visiting Oslo, Norway making a pitstop to try La Sangria.

We needed a quick bite to eat and we were thinking bar, snacks, and small plates. The restaurant had a really nice modern and slightly upscale vibe . It was nice and cozy. The service was really good too with the waitress explaining the menu to us since it was a new tasting menu they were trying . I got a local beer and we tried the miso, glazed eggplant with non-bread and the lobster roll . Both items were extremely delicious and surprisingly filling for being small plates style . From what I've read, they have live entertainment and music upstairs on certain nights, but we came on a quiet evening. If you're looking for late night bar snacks and a nice chill atmosphere this is definitely a place to go !

The service was very good and our waiter both friendly and quick to keep those beer glasses filled, which we like. We were served some of the best tapas I have tasted in a long time, completely void of oily sausages and over spiced meat balls. Our mixture of scallops, hare, fish, veil and mussels were prepared to tasty perfection, without leaving us with that classical "oil and sause everywhere" feeling that tend to follow the tapas experience, at least here in Norway. I almost felt like I was eating healthy, and I mean that in the best possible way, not the "carrot and dry celery" kind of way. We visited on a Thuesday, so the place weren't busy and the atmosphere was very quiet. Still, we liked the interior, and the layout of the tables made us feel quite secluded from other parties, which is a good thing when you're a Norwegian and prefer to mingle only with the people that you came with. With Escalón, I might just have found my favorite tapas place in Oslo.

It is particularly difficult in the back when people block the path with their chairs. This is just as much a critique of some Norwegians and their rudeness towards others. I found it very annoying to have to squeeze myself between to big guys to get to my seat after asking them politely three times to make some room for us to pass without getting any reaction. Altogether it is a place I will be back to, not only to try the soup everyone is talking about but also because I love(hate) the coziness of this place.

They also serve food but I did not try the food here. They have a huge list of craft beers and cocktails and will also make you something on request. The staff were nice and friendly albeit a bit slow. The atmosphere is really nice and it's warm and cozy in here. A nice place to stop for a drink while in town. You can also go and get some nibbles upstairs in the food market when open.

A really tasty broth, perfect chilli level, nice noodles and loads of beef. Seemed authentic to me as it tasted like the pho I had in Hanoi so I was very happy. I went with the large portion and it was a really good size, but Trudie M's small portion looked pretty decent to. Anywhere else in Europe this would be five stars, but I can't do it cause of the price. Bowl of pho is about £14-£15 and a beer was about 8 quid. That's also going with a cheap Kirin beer rather than picking out the Norwegian craft beer that I wanted that was around 11 quid. Good pho, worth checking out if your nearby on a Sunday. As always with Oslo, bring plenty of cash!

The place is enormous but wasn't very busy. It features two levels of seating, but the downstairs was closed off. The hostess let me know that this restaurant was app-based. No servers, well technically, you are your own server here. Drinks, food, or whatever you want is done through the app. So, I downloaded it and gave it a go once I was seated. To drink I ordered the rabarb/jordgubbs mojito which was a strawberry mojito. I liked it. Was a little sweet but hit the spot. To eat I ordered the pizza blanco, fish & chips, and chicken popcorn. I liked the chicken popcorn a lot since it had a nice, sweet flavor to it. I also enjoyed the pizza. I did not like the fish. The chips were fine, but the fish really didn't have much flavor to it at all. As items arrive you'll see your number listed on the app that it's ready for pick up. I think for me, because the exchange is so poor for American's, I felt like I was spending so much to do the work myself. The food was fine, but I would have liked to have had a server. The prices do not indicate that you're doing anything and everything yourself; so if it was a little cheaper than I'd be all for it- but again the exchange rate is where it hurts, not necessarily an issue if I had a bank full of Norwegian Kroner. It was an okay visit. Fun vibe. But as a visitor- one visit is enough.

I downloaded the APP and tried unsuccessfully to order drinks. I kept putting the wrong combination of codes in from my reservation. In the meantime, there was no one around to help. We left after 10 or 15 minutes. No one tried to stop us or ask if we need help. This is not a good place for tourists or visitors who are unfamiliar with this concept. The locals are used to this from COVID.
