After a saunter around the busy Saturday I thought it was time for some form of sustenance. Now I hadn't had a freshly made sandwich from the market before and to be honest had often walked past this unassuming little eatery many times.
There's no sign apart from a small menu listing the sandwiches on offer. The staff were more than helpful though. I went for a Belfast bap (for those who don't know it's essentially a large bap, generally severely burnt on the outside) filled with chicken and beef tomatoes.
I'm not usually a fan of the whole charred bread thing but once you get past the carbon riddled exterior the bread within is moist and fresh. It had a good whiff of that fresh yeasty beer character you only get with fresh bread.
The sandwich was good. Moist chicken, mayonnaise and squishy tomato. Tasty it was. I can't remember exactly how much but it was less than £4 and more than filled the crevice in my stomach.
Yes there are lots of other places to eat in the market, many with more lavish displays and professionally designed logos, but this place is good for a freshly prepared, well seasoned sandwich. read more
